dear Jussy, i have three words, CALEB LANDRY JONES. better known as an actor, this laddie-boy is a gift from Texas, though you'd never guess it from his output. if Syd Barrett, David Bowie, Mark Bolan and John Lennon had a baby ... occasionally left with Uncle Harry Nilsson. no kidding ...Gadzooks is on the Toobs of Yoo. you'll be glad you did ...
This tune reminds me of a cross between Marilyn Manson and Rammstein
Poppy is one of the best of this Era. You Sir, are one of my favorite people ever!
Poppy is so great no misses with any of her albums
Im in love with poppy
I love the way your face lit up when the NIN-style riff kicked in, because mine did exactly the same :). Thank you for turning me on to this. I'm off now to listen to the song in full; and maybe bait some of my industrial friends with it :).
me too lol
Check out poppy’s version of Spit (originally by Kittie) it is phenomenal and again has an industrial element that is amazing
Lower production quality on the road is really not a problem.
Agreed! I enjoy variety in settings too 👍
@@Rocksarum True, and it's actually fun when it's a bit rough on the road, production-wise, because then it sort of feels like you are taken on a journey🙂 Feels more genuine and direct 🙂
Yep...charming. It is authentic and a nice contrast. It feels personal in a way.
@@seanwoodburn2616 Yep, it's just like that 🙂
@@MariaFrancesca totally agree! i love the authenticity❤
Hey hey long time listener first time caller. can confirm these drums were tracked. One of the engineers here. Folio the drummer is insanely good. Yes they were heavily edited in those programmed sections to fit the aesthetic but ole boy can REALLY play.
You are so right about it harkening back to old NIN and Ministry and stuff! Also love the fact that you love those guys too! My first concert was an old school Belgium industrial band called Front 242 and my second one was Nine Inch Nails!
Nitzer ebb's first album
Yeah love them too!@@Sunrazeone
Front 242! Awesome! There's a blast from the past and there goes my afternoon. :D
Lol yeah I had to watch and listen to a few songs cause of remembering them!@@gonkipig7668
This song reminds me of the band Snake River Conspiracy mixed in with a bit of Skold.
Noah Sebastian's (now deleted) CZcams channel had some old VODs of his streams where he'd produce a song live, and that was such a useful tool when I was starting out trying to learn music production. He's fucking incredible at what he does.
I'm also glad he opted out of singing on this one - he does so much more for the band and this track proves it.
HE DELETED THE CHANNEL??
This sounds interesting; I'm trying to get back into producing my own music again after a very long hiatus and this does indeed soun like a super useful tool. Do you know if these videos are available anywhere or still floating around YT?
@@JAMCEEEE im not sure but there was a video where he went round and made a song with things around his house that song would later turn out to be the death of peace of mind
@@luketinginit I just searched for that specific vídeo yesterday to show to someone and it's gone 😭
@@acampillo ☹️☹️☹️
Poppy's Arc is so interesting. I didn't connect with her early stuff, but she just keeps getting better and better and I've been so fully on board since Flux.
I just got done working for Bad Omens on their UK run and can tell you that Nick Folio is a sick drummer
I just love seeing you having so much fun with the song and especially mentioning all the details (drums, production, melody etc). I think the song is brilliant 🤘
My interest in Poppy was piqued a couple years ago when I heard her cover of t.A.T.u.‘s “All The Things She Said” - loving this track with Bad Omens!!
Her covers and collabs are amazing! Right up there with her own stuff (sometimes better)! Check out her cover of Spit by Kittie!
She's got some really interesting stuff in a variety of styles
I love the fact that you always impart to me a better understanding of the music I enjoy. Thanks so much for bringing this all to so many of us.
Just saw your show at Festival Hall. Absolutely rocked mate, made my year!!!!
Poppy is such a delight
Big fan of Poppy. Discovered her accidentally on CZcams, Never Find My Place is an awesome track.
I'm a huge fan myself, have seen her live and know her entire discography front and back... I'm just replying to say that "Never Find My Place" is my all-time favorite Poppy song. My son's too. Cool that you mentioned it.
That song has a great message, made me feel less alone, or actually just more secure in my wanted solitude.
Is it Ghoste on vocals on that track?
100% my favourite on that album, sound so good on vinyl!
Poppy slays!
Yes! Poppy - brilliant!
Really glad you checked this one out. Such an interesting and unexpected collab
Thank you for pointing out this musical creation Mr Hawkins.
Nick Folio is an excellent drummer. Can confirm, he does this live, too
I needed this
It’s a beautiful place, was there 2023 Christmas, absolutely scorched!!!😢😊
I MUST SAY ... SUPER SMART FINANCIAL MOVE IDEA TEAMING UP WITH POPPY !!!
For both artists!
Who needs high end production values, when you have high end content and banter! Lovely stuff. Bravo sir.
It's mad how it was just over a year when I went to see you in concert with my ex in Cardiff, would of gone to your 20th anniversary concert if I was still with her. Hopefully I'll go to another one of your concerts again one day and love the videos you do as I hope you do more bad omens videos as I've recently started getting into them.
That is a great one! thank you.
I think I agree with you- this kicks ass!
A live video has already been put up.
It's amazing.
Yeah when Noah joins in it is pretty epic!
Bad Omens!❤🔥
Love it. Went straight back to NIN & Nitzer Ebb.
Thank you.
Poppy’s voice is beautiful.
Love this track! Look forward to seeing Poppy in Cincinnati.
I love how the little notes pop on the main melody. It's addicting.
Welcome to Australia mate! Hope the heat isn’t too rough on you.
Oooh I really like this! *Looks up Bad Omens & Poppy * Thanks for the intro!
Enjoy! I personally can't get enough of Poppy!
Poppy's pretty awesome.
I adore Poppy and have done for several years at this point. Bad Omens released my favourite album of 2022 and I saw them support Bring Me The Horizon on tour exactly 2 weeks ago. It was amazing!
I loveeee poppy sm
Thanks Justin, another great recommendation.
See you in Sydney on Saturday!!! 🎸
See you in Malta!!!
Love that you did a review on such an awesome band. Even better you did it like 40min down the road from me 😂
It's already on my playlist...
The live version is awesome too!
Love it!
Hi Justin you guys killed it in Melbourne on Saturday!! Amazing show as always! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸
I was gutted you weren’t able to perform in Auckland - hope you can make it back to NZ one day! Glad you’re feeling better!
So awesome to hear your POV on this song JH. Noah is usually the singer and he took a step back on this record and focused on producing. So cool. Awesome and risky move.
This song is brilliant!
Excited to finally see you tonight! ❤ sorry about the heat & humidity lol. The new Bad Omens is awesome
I am NIN enthusiast as well. This is exciting. Thx ❤
Finally Poppy! :)
You are one cool dude. I never hear about these bands, so I keep on relying on you, ya weirdo. Love it.
Enjoy the waves!
Been listening to this song. It’s great!
this song is insane live 🖤🔥
Bad Omens are amazing
The song is a straight fucking banger. Great message in the song too. Poppy is cool as hell.
Agreed!
Fracking much agreed with all said❤
Boooooooooom Sunday sorted!
Listened to Bad Omens on repeat last year! The Death of Peace of Mind is an Awesome Album 👍
Front to back one the best of the last few years,
Justin it’s great that you still do videos while touring! Lighting, sound…I mean if we can see you and understand what your saying…I’m happy! I think we’re a pretty easy going crew (I hope) and I don’t see any complaints! I’ll have to listen again at first I got Ministry vibes and then Rob Zombie (Dragula) but I’m exhausted and half out on my sleep edibles.
Absolute banger
🖤🖤🖤
😮. THIS. IS. AWESOME
The frequencies are piercing. Yoda.
Ah. My face appears to have melted. Again.
I was not expecting the intro kicking in the way it did!
Dear JH I stomped the loudest at Festival Hall Melbourne the other night for an encore on what was a brilliant, fun and good humoured performance, the reward was you lot coming out in your pyjamas to croon "I love you 5 times" it was beautiful. Take care in Surfers and watch out for the sharks, punch them in the snoz if they get too close, thanks for all that glam rock and see you next time.
it was an awesome gig wasn’t it! i loved every second ❤
Poppy's fucking awesome. Stumbled upon her a couple of years ago and always glad when she's got a new single.
Really reminds me of Grimes - We Appreciate Power, both thematically and sonically
That was a collab with poppy too, right?
It was supposed to be a collab with poppy, but the two girls got into a shit storm regarding writing credits for their collab play destroy @@popejaimie
It's kind of surprising that so many people are on the Poppy bandwagon!! This song alright , it does have it's good points. The things you pointed out are definitely pretty cool and you did a fantastic job (as always) breaking it down for us. When it comes to the topic of Poppy, my opinion of her was extremely tainted years ago but I can still appreciate some of the good. Thanks for all of your hard work Justin, we all enjoy the time you take to share with us here on your channel 😁💙...... Sorry this is so long guys 😮!!!!!
I’m someone with much more of an electro industrial and cyber goth background, but that does include NIN and Ministry as well. So, although I don’t usually listen to Bad Omens, this one did resonate with me a lot! The first band I thought of, with the production on the vocals, was Mind In A Box, an electronic band from Austria. I did also love the theme of this song.
Hear you're coming to my home town of Trondheim in June? See ya there, mate!
❤Justin welcome home brother 🙏 🎉
Savage Garden vibes fr
Someone compared it to Savage Garden and now I can't unhear it
Haha, WOW! That is so true! Savage Garden gone industrial metal. Love it 😂
I remember the two photos we took at a concert in La Riviera (Madrid) years ago. In one of the photos we were with our eyes closed and you told us to take another one.
Bald's song is the reed
Dude's falcetto sounds like Freddie Mercury 😮
Love rock music, super channel!
This feels like what might happen if Charlie Clouser or Front Line Assembly were remixing Fear Factory again, but Maria Brink or OTEP was on guest vocals (and the lyrics are in line with both Maria and Ms. Shamaya's oeuvre).
Amazing! Two thoughts spring to mind watching/listening to this. The 1st is the line in Rush's "Spirit of Radio", which says "All this machinery making modern music can still be open-hearted", etc., etc. These guys did it right. Auto tune, fake drums, they can actually be used to make art! ("...it's really just a question of your honesty"). The 2nd thought is that this has the same kind of, I don't know, "DNA", as Queensryche's "Screaming In Digital" or "NM156". I've always loved this kind of dystopian stuff. It's just a lot scarier now! 🤘🤘
Not Rock, but Poppy has a great pop song and video on this topic! Called Time Is Up.
Nice!
Welcome to Oz! Saw you at Big Day Out 20 years ago…awesome!
I was there too.. the one in Brisbane, I think it was 2004.. it was a great day! 😎
“ I’m feeling bits of “Pretty Hate Machine”❤
Just saw them perform this song a couple hours ago together. Absolute banger! Also cool that Noah had vocal parts. The live version is definitely superior in my opinion.
I love Bad Omens so much, Noah has a phenomenal voice.
See you on the wave!
I remember seeing a vid that looked like a weird cult it was pretty fun cause it had that goldfrapp melody gold vibe. This reminded me of infected mushroom and those disturbing prodigy vids.
That drum beats got a total fear factory vibe
Superb stuff and further proof of Martin Atkins’ influence and legacy
Thanks, I've never actually checked out her music before. I just remember her old weird videos, like some babydoll Max Headroom.
Since Poppy is on tour with Bad Omens right now you can find some live recordings of this and they sound great. Noah drops a few backup vocals on the live versions. Bad Omens are incredible live, this track almost certainly is going to be off the deluxe edition of their last album that is supposed to have some remixes and collabs on it titled "Concrete Forever". Super talented musicians all around.
Justin, I would encourage everyone to go backwards with Poppy. I always LOVE to see an artists evolution. You can really see her find herself, and she goes from sickening sweet bubblegum to THIS monster. Even the bubblegum is dark when you listen to the lyrics. Don't let her attractiveness fool you. She is no joke, and it seems she's been very careful to remain in control of her art.
And I'm 100% with you on the 90s NIN vibe, and I LOVE it!
I love her bubblegum pop stuff.
@@godless-clump-of-cells Me too!
We love Poppy.
I hope you catch some great waves! :)
Reminds me of The Prodigy impact with Firestarter - just really different and exciting!
Big NIN and Ministry fan here too! I can't remember a song in the last few years that excited me as much when it came out as this one. Obsessed! Made me check out Bad Omens and Poppy, BO are not my kind of metal, Poppy however I'm all in! Proper artist!
Yes true!
As a yoof listening to ministry & nin no one could sell me on the darkness mainly because you were so popular!
& idiot folk used to tell me I looked like you 😂
But you’ve now grown on me if only I’d known you were a ministry fan back then I might have understood it.
But you’ll be happy to know I am now finally digging into Queens back catalogue outside of the greatest hits albums of my childhood.
🫡 Respect ✊
Definitely check out more of Bad Omens stuff, and the drumming is serious stuff. The drummer, Nick Folio hits hard on a lot of their songs
