  • Quick walkthrough on how to connect your MMDVM, Allstar device, or something similar to your cellular phone hotspot for amateur radio use.
In the video, I mention a network analyzer cell phone app. it is available here: apps.apple.com/us/app/network...
    or here: play.google.com/store/apps/de...
This is a quick walk through, but I wanted this to be documented so SOMEONE has access to it who may not know how.
Thank You to KC9ONA for the topic idea.
    Don't forget to sub.

The video regarding lynx is going to take a little more effort. Check out the description if you didn't already

Thanks for this video just one note...if you are setting this up while your home network is connected, simply turn off your home router while testing.

The part where you see what’s connected to your phone’s hotspot does not work on iPhones. The iPhone never shows that, but android does show that. Also you can’t connect to Wires X with a hotspot. You can only connect to a reflector which is bridged to a wires X. At no point are you actually in Wires X.

How do you connect to one that requires a sign in?

of course iphones dont allow you to change the phones hotspot name. Any way to work around it on the MMDVM side?

Can’t you just buy a hotspot for just your phone? So you don’t have to change the name?

@@philcarlson5313 I was wrong! You change the name of your iPhone and it changes the hotspot name. One of my other issues was just simply connecting but having my Apple Watch on prevented my MMDVM from connecting to my iPhone.

When I turn off my home router the hotspot connects to the mobile hotspot but has no internet. Unable to access ay reflectors.

Does your phone possibly have a setting to allow certain devices to connect to the mobile wifi? Maybe the phone is restricting access to the internet? Otherwise at the moment, I'm uncertain

@@HAMRADIODUDE don't see any settings to restrict access. Kindle Fire connects fine to it. Carrier is Verizon.

Reflashed a SD card and now it works as it should. When you bring up the dashboard should you be able to switch to the CONFIGRATION page? When I click on configuration it is asking for a user name. When I put in pi-star for the user name it just keeps coming back asking for user name. Would like to be able to change startup host wen using the cell phone as a mobile hotspot.
