Two amazing Canadian actors - Ryan and Rachel. They started dating after the movie and were together for several years. Love them both!
They could barely tolerate each other on the movie.

The mvoie cut off short. They do talk about going away together and then they do and the nurse finds them
I love this movie! Rachel and Ryan have such great chemistry. It's a beautiful story. ❤
I like the parts of the book with the young Allie and Noah better than the movie. There is no Ferris wheel. The book begins in 1932, during the depression, when she is 15 and he is 17. They actually have sex. They don't fight all the time and she teaches him to dance and he teaches her to fish. When she leaves, he leaves to look for work and ends up helping a Jewish man grow his metal salvaging business. He writes a couple of letters a month for a couple of years which her mother takes. She tells a friend about them having sex and the friend keeps saying he isn't writing because he got what he wanted. He has a fling with an older woman in NJ. He doesn't see her until she comes back. Noah is soldier, but Lon isn't. He is good looking and rich, but he is an attorney and wants to be a politician and he works all the time, but promises not to do that if they marry. Lon is 8 years older than Allie and she is bored. Lon doesn't understand or like her art. She refuses to have sex with him. When she goes back to the house, she is 29 and Noah is 31. The Jewish man left Noah $70,000 and he buys the house for himself which he planned to do before he met Allie. There is a war widow named Martha Shaw, but she has 3 kids and a run down house which he helps her with, but they do not have sex. They both realize it isn't over when they see each other, but she tells him she is engaged so he doesn't push it. The ducks are actually Canada geese and swans and it does rain. He gets dry clothes for both of them and she changes upstairs. They come together at the fireplace and he waits for her to lead. Her mom shows up and Noah answers the door. She talks to both of them and Allie tells both of him she doesn't love Lon, like she does Noah. Lon is the one who gives her a bad time.
