    For a channel that usually does these so well, how did you forget that before 1991, all 15 republics of the former Soviet Union was one country, so if they USSR recognised North Korea, then all of them should have been coloured.

      I guess it would be confusing to have them change color to blue after independence and then again to red afterwards. Also since they weren't independent, they also couldn't recognise N Korea. But I do agree it would make more sense to color them red as long as they were part of USSR/Sudan

      @@nithincristano8572 But they were still part of the USSR as a single country. The Soviet Union strategically created Ukraine and Belarus as UN seats because the West had a greater number of small countries, so under one country one vote rule, this disadvantaged the Eastern bloc. Later on, it didn't matter, because as the rest of the world decolonised, the newly independent nations in the developing world usually voted the same way as the socialist bloc.

      Recognizing a country’s existence is completely ok no matter if they have evil regimes. For example most of NATO and the EU recognize North Korea. That doesn’t mean they agree/ support North Korea’s government. Hell they despise North Korea, it’s considered to be one of the biggest human rights crisis’ since the 2nd world war.

    A small correction, Argentina recognized north korea first instead of south korea and this was due to the fact north korea was a normal country with good economy (before getting isolated by the u.s) while south korea was pretty poor and full of starving people at that time this is why most south american countries recognized north korea first but after the coups and dictatorships the u.s sent here these countries were forced to recognize south korea.

      @aarondodo4076 Před rokem

      Well realistically, if you REALLY have to talk to DPRK and you don't have diplomatic relations, you go through Russia and China. Which used to be not hard for the US or France to do --- they're all sitting at the UN permanent security council panel, plenty of opportunities to talk. Well, currently that option isn't really open for the US due to you know, it is in a feud with both Russia AND China. But France can still ask. Japan is an entirely different story, due to WWII aftermath, Japan can barely get along with S Korea nevermind N Korea. As for the smaller countries, they don't really need to talk directly to N Korea, nor does N Korea have a direct interest in them.
