Our reviews give you two perspectives. Jakub takes the perspective of the car enthusiast, while Yuri represents the interests of the general consumer. You won't find details about engine compression ratios here, instead you'll have real world opinions on what it's like to drive and own cars.

Nice meeting you guys and what a way for my first time in Canada eh!
It was great meeting you and doing a quick collab! You're welcome back anytime. We'll take you to cliché corner next time for a full send
ChrisFix hey Chris
I'd hate to be that guy that corrects every little mistake but I just wanted to let you know the location of the Edison Ford plant is actually a Sam's club and a top golf now, I only know that because I work right across the street from it at Ray Catena. Btw love your videos keep up the awesome work, same with you @thestrightpipes!
Nice colab
Eh! 🇨🇦
The title of this vid should have "ft. Chris Fix" but you guys didn't do it, and I appreciate that, cause the surprise really got me! Props to you guys..
Share the video so everyone's surprised. Or we'll just add it to the title instead
Ford guys: amazing truck
Car enthusiasts: looks nice
Chevy guys: trash
GMC guys: trash
Ram guys: trash
Japanese truck guys: all are trash
Diesel guys: hah can’t tow that much
Fanboys in a nutshell
I drive a Chevy, but that's not why this thing is kinda "meh" to me - I was really excited when I heard it was coming back and it's somewhat mediocre. The Raptor Ranger looks awesome though!
nowthatsurban oh yea, the raptor ranger is just amazing
ILogic 1 um... 5:44 my dude
Alex's Customs i have watched the entire video, no need to tell me, not every car comes out from the factory 100% perfect
Straight Pipes and Chris Fix?! Nice.
ldotmurray they are super nice and down to earth dudes!

@@TheStraightPipes such Canadians LOL NOOOO YOUR NICER!

I absolutely love how important the "visor test" is for you guys! I agree that it's such simple thing to make a feature that much more versatile.
Ford Ranger, powered by Windows. If it breaks, just reboot the bloody thing.
I own a 2019 ranger, you can pick the gears only when in sport using the +- on the gear selector. They only limit when in normal driving mode. Great review you guys rock! While everyone else scrambles to review race cars (nothing wrong with that) you guys review cars that are affordable for normal people. (Along with cool cars to keep it interesting) Great resource for anyone buying a car and super entertaining at the same time. Keep it up!!!
Nicholas Banko im looking for a midsized truck would you recommend the Ford Ranger? What are your reasons for recommending it or why wouldn’t you recommend it?
@@universaldragonninja I got myself a wildtrak recently, been amazing...shame its already got a recall for something loose in the transmission
Shoutout to Yuri for filming in horizontal instead of vertical
We kind of know what we're doing when it comes to filming
Loved the ChrisFix snippet!!! I'm a Ford guy, but when it comes to this class, I prefer the ZR2 Colorado more. Hopefully America will get the Raptor Ranger soon.
Shout out to Straight Pipes for always giving the fans what we request. You guys are awesome!!
Marvel: Infinity War will be the biggest crossover

I'll stick with my Tacoma. Good video boys!
Any day of the week.
They’re so sexy. I see brand new Toyota Tacoma’s every day and they definitely win the small truck game
Enjoy rust, drum brakes, weird seating position and a c channel frame!
jak p 😂 for decades American companies said the c frame was better than Toyota box frame. Now it’s garbage cause they switched to box frame?
@@jakp8777 Toyota acknowledged it and addressed it. Enjoy your crappy electronics and bugs. I got my wife a 2013 Flex Limited and it's just as stupid as this Ranger.
Perfect example of Ford reliability lol

I've had this same error on my 2017 Explorer Sport. It did not fix itself. Was in the shop for a month.
Ranger Fx4 owner. 2000 miles in. Haven’t seen that weird electronic issue you guys faced. The rear back seat does require a strong scary slam to lock though.
Outside of that; I waited for this Ranger - over Tacoma / Colorado, for the power #s, style, and technology.
This has all the tech assists you find in modern cars (adaptive cruise, Apple/Droid auto, terrain selection found in Raptor, ...).
Taco, Colorado, Ranger- to each their own. But I’m LOVING mine.
Good video fellas.
when the test car starts throwing codes..pass....guess I'll stick with a used taco if I wanted a small truck.
thats what happens when you spin the drive mode gauge and change every drive train setting within 2 minutes.
@@howarde7872 and that's not acceptable. They need to build vehicles reliable enough for consumers to fuck with the buttons without incident.
@@thatoneotherotherguy The Ranger has too much tech then you really need. The center stack with small knobs/buttons and a dial is too car like. In fact its from a fusion from the looks of it. So is the gauge cluster. 3 smaller digital gauges. Its a hot mess reading all the smallish text. I prefer my Frontier Pro 4X. Has one row for all that. Dial for 2wd 4hi/lo and for rear locker. Button for descent control. The ranger has too much electronic tech. And its literally drove up the price 5K-10K over the competition. About the only think I wish my Nissan had is the blind spot alert. That is actually useful. Your better off just getting the regular XL with 4x4 with rear locker. Forget the FX4 package. I'm not hearing good things about it. and it has a rougher ride on road.
I saw a picture of the center stack in a base model Ranger, tiny radio screen and more buttons than a computer keyboard, ridiculous!
if you like a new engine and transmission that drives acts and performs like its 25 years old then yes you should get a used taco..... suckers who believe the hype are born every second congrats on being a lemming
I almost didn't finish the vid after all the faults until ChrisFix joined....that was an awesome little hidden Easter egg in the vid. Thanks for your time on the review fellas!!!😄😎
Lol we dont get the F150 here in Australia but still pay the same price for the ranger
We have the F150 in aus now, have for a while
we can get basically anything we want in Australia man just gotta pony up the pineapple
Same in Brasil but we pay two 150 for one Ranger, godamit!!!!
@@vitorrossetto caralho, br aqui?
@@cassianofaria1 "passando raiva" vendo o que não recebemos ahhahha
This new Ranger is all that! I test drove them all. Ranger feels stronger.. better built & totally a smaller F150. Bought a loaded '19 an love it.
I may not be a ford fan, but that truck looks nice. And no car is perfect. Toyota’s are not perfect. They have their bad vehicles too. American trucks do way better than Fiat.... those have tons of issues. You can’t compare a Fiat to a Ford truck. 🙄
Just like Ford not all people are perfect
Looks good, but I sure do miss the size of the old Ranger trucks. Good thing for used, I guess.
I love that you did a Chris Fix crossover. Two of my faves in one video.
I was definitely not expecting Chris to be in the video, good switch up guys.
Awesome having Chrisfix join you guys. Love both channels. Keep it up guys!!
I love your collaboration with ChrisFix. You guys are way too creative!
I have no confidence in vehicles that break during a "PROFESSIONAL REVIEW". So far this is the 2nd one that I've seen break on a SP review. That said! Thank you Straight Pipes because I/we need to see this and the companies need to get it together. Showing the faults makes me like this channel 100x more!
Haha same here this video sealed my decision to not get one
My Lincoln does this after the awd overheats
I always get excited when I see chrisfix on someone else's video cause I wonder if we'll get a sneak peak at his face
What it lacks in the bed it makes up for in the rear...
OneObjective underrated
Lol
You guys will be surprised how many Frontiers people still buy. It's an old truck but it's good a proven reliable drivetrain and engine.
except for the whole SMOD thing... lol
@@EvanRackle that's only for 2005-2009 models. so it stopped being an issue...... 9 years ago?
Pin yup
Agreed. Biggest thing is that it's a "new" old truck that's reliable and cheap. The Ranger is not cheap, it's not new, and as far as reliability....?
I think people buy frontiers because Nissan will give anyone a loan. Crazy how a frontier is more expensive then other trucks out there.
This video really shows what it's like to drive a ford. When all the electronics went crazy in mine though it left me stranded and took them almost a month to figure out what was wrong with it.
"FORD Help Desk...mmhmm...mmhmm...really? Have you tried rebooting your Ranger?"
not really shocked it broke already lol
rcpcdude same lol. Just like my truck!
It happens when you drift/slide to much it thinks the traction censors are broken but you just have drive a little then it’s good ( coming from a ford owner)
@WalkinOSF This I would like to know if it's common. Really love the Ranger but if I need to wait a year or 2 in hopes they improve this I will.
Unfortunately I would imagine it will be breaking frequently a few years down the road too.
Thomas Gannon common ford issue
"HEY GUYS!" lol. funny Chris Fix surprise.
Ranger looks like an interesting option. Good review, guys! Also that beard is looking great man!
At 6'2" I hit my leg on that out cropping every time I get into it. I have a small garage, so I went with a 2005 Dodge Dakota Crew cab with the V8/Heated seats. Cherry.
The shake on a dead start is the engine start stop.
No, I disabled it and it still shakes a little bit
Even with the Tacoma's older tech, I'd still take it over a Ranger, especially a TRD Pro in Voodoo Blue!
The older, proven tech is a complete positive aspect. A Toyota will get you home every single time. That's in contrast to people like FCA making a cutting edge Wrangler that's capable enough to strand you truuuly in the middle of nowhere.
Those Tacomas looks so badass, especially the TRD PRO in the voodoo blue, you said, and you can even get a snorkel on it
most overated vehicle of ALL time
@@j.martin4476 Do you mean the Tacoma or the Ranger
@@alwaysiyi272 I'm guessing the taco. An old friend of mine has a Taco TRD with all sorts of bells and whistles and that thing feels extremely outdated, especially under the hood.
I have always love the Ranger. I don't have any use for a truck, but that Ranger Raptor is calling my name. I was pleasantly surprised by ChrisFix's brief appearance in this video.
7:58 Thank you! Finally someone understands the 1st rule of troubleshooting

Alex's Customs 😂
That's the Ford we know!
Fix or repair daily , found on road dead
Fuckin old rebuilt dodge.
My Toyota sienna did the same thing it’s not a ford thing. It’s a modern computerized motor vehicle issue.
Forget the Raptor SVO Shelby Roush editions.
Is there a Mazda B4000 Courier edition?
A Canada-only 'coureur de bois' edition ?
I jumped out of my chanclas when ChrisFix made a camo! 🤸♂️🙌🔥 good job fellas👌
Never been much of a ford guy, but I got one of these and I love it. I have an xlt supercrew with the fx4 package. I just went ahead and put my own leather in it too.
I was looking forward to the new Ranger and then it showed up and it’s big and expensive. The old Ranger was way more reliable.
Yep. Same as all the other trucks. Nissan Frontier refresh, you're our only hope for a basic small truck that's not a mortgage payment.
InternetDude that’s funny because the new ranger hasn’t been out long enough to know how reliable it is
Thank you for mentioning the shake on acceleration. I test drove one a couple weeks back and it did the same thing! It also had a misaligned tailgate and rear door. Same lack of headroom that my dad's 2002 Ranger has. Nothing about the truck impressed me. Way too expensive for a 'new' old truck. I wouldn't buy this over any other truck.
I was hoping the shake was that particular car. Guess it's others as well 🙁
@@TheStraightPipes I thought the same. Looks like it might actually be a 'thing'. At least the one I drove didn't go off like I hit the jackpot on a slot machine like yours did...but then I drove an XL Base, so it didn't have all the tech that pitched a fit on your Lariat...
The shake is due to dealers not lowering the tire pressure to 30psi after shipment. Anyone who test drives one should check the tire pressure on the cluster, it’ll likely be over 40psi in which case you’ll experience the shutter in the rear.
I know this is old, but I test drove multiple models. My observation was that basic Sport suspension shook. 2019 model did it and I have up on the Ranger. New 2021 did as well. Butttt the FX4 did not. Not at all. I hope the Tremor is the same way. So lesson learned, get the off-road suspension
I bought a super cab XLT with the chrome package and fx4 package couldn't be happier with it
Love that you guys are bringing in the sponsors! Congrats guys
Thanks
FYI, I believe the tacoma is FINALLY getting android auto for the 2020 model year.
Gregimus Prime sure it is
What took so long?
@@jakp8777 They care about reliability and wait until bugs are out, that's why Toyota quality and electronics are more reliable, unlike the ones in this Ranger
Roberto Razo I don’t have a profile pic stupid. This truck just came out, how can you gauge reliability?
@@jakp8777 I obviously edited it, as I was replying to 2 of you. And were you not watching the video? The electronics went to shit. This truck is new in the U.S/Canada dipshit, not the rest of the world. Do your homework. And I was answering your question about Android auto, not speaking about this trucks reliability. Learn how to comprehend what you read.
Man ford yall couldnt even make one good truck for a The Straight Pipes Review
Excellent video production quality as usual.
Tractor trailers that have all those extra crash avoidance systems throw all those codes when the sensors get blocked. Even heavy rain will knock out adaptive cruise, hill start assist, lane departure warnings, and ABS.
I’ll stick with my tacoma. Save me from the headaches that Ford’s unreliability brings.
Brian but then you have rust, drum brake and c channel frame headaches.
The Tacoma stops in the same distance as the other mid-sized trucks, so what is the problem?
Shakerhood69 they cut corners by going to drum brakes. That test is unloaded with no incline (best case scenario). That’s the problem.
@@jakp8777 The tests that I have seen tested loaded and unloaded and they all finished about the same, no issue.
Actually, Toyota had its share of powertrain issues recently with the Tacoma.
I own a couple of Fords but I think the Tacoma has the edge here. The Taco is more rugged looking, probably more reliably and I think a better interior. If anyone agrees, please respond with a gigity.
Gigity
Loved the ChrisFix collab! Would've loved for it to be more involved though...
Hey you two are meant for each other really enjoyed your video and presentation what a nice truck I love the improvements they made on the Irma nomics and body style compared to the original Ford Ranger I like the lines they gave it a sportier look from the old Ranger it just looks so much better I thought the original Ranger look horrible but it wasn't bad it was good enough to pick up junk and put in the back of the bed but this one that's a lot of style which I really liked a lot thank you for sharing goodbye from Atlanta Georgia
ask Chris to super clean the truck bed
This thing doesn’t make much sense to me honestly. F-150 Lariat starts at only a few grand more than a Ranger Lariat.
I should point out that the Ranger has Auto Stop-Start Technology. The shakes you felt when going from a complete stop might well be engine re-starting.
Dudes...I freakin’ love Chris Fix. What an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
Test drove one, hated it.
Agreed. Was supremely disappointed in everything about this truck. I noticed the acceleration shake, misaligned tailgate and door, lack of headroom, plastic interior, bad ride, etc.
@@NukePooch1 everything about it seemed cheap. It's like they intentionally made a bad truck.
The look of this new ranger almost beat ridgeline effeminacy😅
This is NOT a 'game-changer'! When 'mid size' crew cab pick ups solve the back seat leg , shoulder & head room ....i'll then Consider at seriously 'looking at one'! this includes ALL 'MAKES'!! Luv you guys...always ENTERTAINING !!
It really is just an updated Explore Sport Trac. AS the Sport Trac had the short bed and full 4 door setup....Also was built off the Ranger body back in the 2000's. Great little truck
I really love your reviews
This ford Ranger has been available in Botswana since 2012. the spec hasn't changed at all
That shake I have found, seems to be due to the auto start/stop. When I shut it off, it didn't happen. This has been my experience.
Oh snap!! ChrisFix is my favorite CZcamsr. Great Easter egg! Loved it.
Good truck for many people. But I feel like the F-150 is a much better buy because it's aluminum and can get the 3.5 EcoBoost. I bet the F-150 tows better too if you really need to pull 7500lbs pretty often. Also appears there is no built in trailer brake controller option on ford.com for the ranger which legally limits the ranger to towing 3000lbs by law in most provinces and states since trailer brakes are a requirement above that weight limit. Just something to keep in mind for people looking to buy this truck. You're gonna have to buy an aftermarket trailer brake controller (which isnt a big deal).
Chris Fix! Man, that voice! Great mash up.
Robert Armstrong didn’t see that one coming haha
Hey Yiri & Jacob, love the show, and I love visor and box tests, but I think you guys need another test for trucks. 4x8 test. Not sure what you guys do in metric land, but in the US almost all plywood and sheet rock for home projects comes in 4ft x 8ft sections, and it can be a make or break deal for many trucks if you can actually fit that in the bed. But heck, I always found it useful when SUV's and minivans are tested for this. Almost bought a ford flex, but it can't 4x8, so no deal!
These guys' style always on point omg
5:20 “Ah! You just have to SLAM it!”
I wish ford would've made the ranger a REAL small truck. This thing is freakin massive!
James no one buys small trucks. It’s the reason they stopped making rangers in the first place
They do if it's a taco
Not enough margin for oems to build cheap trucks. Ford finally brought the Ranger back but its probably makes them as much money as a F-150. If not more. The MSRP is insane.
@@Ep1cXp4nDa The thousands of people who still drive the old Rangers disagree with you. Mine is over 20 years old (1998) and it still going strong.
Tacoma (and 4Runner, Tundra, Sequioa) will get CP and AA for 2020 MY. Will be nice to finally have that box checked!
BTW, you CAN select the gears using the +/- button on the shifter.....
My lane-keeping system is called a steering wheel.
🤣😁👌👌
My wife has one of the brand-new Explorers and she's gotten the same errors. Taken it back to the dealership twice in less than 2 months. I love Fords, but this doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. Been waiting for the new Bronco, but this may push me to any other brand.
I was thrust into being an interim fleet manager for my previous employer, on top of my project management duties. We had about 120 vehicles in our fleet, most being Ford's between the 2013-2017 models. Fiesta's, Focus', Fusion's, F-150's, Econoline vans. The F-150's and Econoline vans were fine, but everything else was an utter fail! In fact, out of 68 cars, 41 of them needed new transmissions within the first 50,000 miles, and a few of the vehicles needed the transmissions replaced twice. What in the hell is Ford doing in their assembly plants to have so many transmission failures? Also, tons of electrical issues. I'd steer clear of the brand; that's just way too many issues for it to be a fluke IMO.
Oh my gods guys! Finally! I have been waiting so long for this.
The codes usually happens when there is a battery issue with modern cars. If you cannot change the battery or check it for faults, leave the car off for about 10 minutes, it should reset. It won't if the battery's voltage is too low. Happened with us when we bought our Renegade, it had been on the floor for 8 months and the battery had gone bad, Jeep swopped it out for us, and never had an issue since.
Nice collaboration with Chrisfix! I have driven many of the older Rangers through the generations and was excited to get the Pipe's Perspective.
I agree that it doesn't look bold enough in the front end for a truck. The rake of the hood gives it SUV face. It already looks dated, (especially in that colour) but I'm sure Ford will do a refresh in less than 3 years - especially if people are willing to spend $50K on one. For that money, I'd get a well optioned Tacoma. The Toyota will hold it resale value much better than this Ranger.
Hahaha a brand new 40k truck fixed itself. Maybe they are made better in Australia? because apparently they sell better than the Hilux now.
Edison NJ!!!!!! Bro I'm a north Ed boy!!!! And yes that Ford play is now a sams club, Starbucks, and top golf!
Went to colonia HS. Looking at this or jeep wrangler or tacoma
When I have to decide in my busy morning whether to watch Doug DeMuro’s McLaren F1 or StraightPipes Ford Ranger... well, the choice is clear - Thanks for keeping it real guys!!!! (Btw - keeping it real was the slogan for the Ford Territory) - Lots of love from Oz!
I liked the Patreon explanation (everyone watching this in the future - go sign up now, it's worth it). I did not like the Ranger. Bad infotainment, engine/transmission issue causing vibration, sensor failure during the review, the largest back seat is still pretty small, and the bed is small. The Ranger seems like the compromise that leaves no one happy.
Thanks for the patreon testimonial haha
It's not burnt orange... it's pepper red
holy shit I love Chrisfix and that was literally the coolest surprise to ever have in a video
We just returned from a 6.5 week holiday in the western U.S. We saw only two new Rangers on the road in that time.
Yes! Shout out to the old Ranger! Lol
Yooooo
CROSSOVER EPISODE!!!! Love you guys and ChrisFix!
My wife's 2019 Accord did the same thing with all the Honda features and safety stuff. The battery was dying, which led to intermittent voltage....which then makes all the systems work/not work.
Chris fix showing up was awesome
oh crap I'll just look into the Tacoma instead.
Yep I stopped watching at the 6:00 point.. cant deal with all this fancy garbage ... my 3rd gen runner will remain in the stable
You absolutely should
For the money they want, buy a Honda Ridgeline. Much bigger, more broadly usable power, far larger bed. MASSIVELY better quality and comes with more features and trim at nearly every price point.
If truck buyers made purchases with their brains and not their egos, and weren't too delicate to be seen in a "MiNiVaN wItH a BeD", the RL would sell like hot cakes
My fusion from 2014 will have this issue come up rarely, I think 2 times since I got the car. Basically every light will come on, especially hill start assist/traction control, and after like 20 seconds of driving everything goes away. Never knew why, and it even happens with a rental ford delivery van from 2018. No idea why, but i haven’t had any mechanical issues with those systems, so I am not too worried about it.
Keep watching these new truck videos out of curiosity and quickly conclude my 37 year old pickup with a full 8' bed, no computers and fantastic heater still does just fine. They tell me its appreciating in value due to restoration potential, lol.
I totally agree. I have a 2000 FULLY loaded 4x4 Ranger, electric seats, all the upgrades from an Explorer, no digital dash that often needs a reboot or is un-fixable. I just replaced the engine for $5,000 instead of giving FORD $35,000. Now I am good to go another 10 -15 years!
Come on Bronco! Please just put in a Coyote engine with available manual and call it good!
6:44, man glad i have a V6 Z71 Crew Cab 4X4 with a 6 foot bed!!! I forgot to add it's a Colorado!!
