Question... could you do a sword fight like this with a katana vs a Bastard Sword or Small Claymore? Wouldnt the bigger heavier strait sword destroy the blade on the Kata which was meant for slicing blows?
Yeah no problem (A bastard/longsword isn't much difference in weight to a katana), the trope about katana being light & delicate is not accurate, they're about as thick as swords get & would get chipped & bent a bit, but not to the point of being unusable (any sword clashing with any other sword will cause damage)

@@tombstoneharrystudios584 Yeah, it shows. I always wondered why a film about swordfighting has such lousy sworfights. ;-)
Highlander (1986) is its own universe. There's no AFTER, Connor won "The Prize" and that's the end of it. Anything that was made after happens in parallel universes in which similar yet different events happened.
Two things - first, I can't get over how young Clancy Brown looks in those last moments (the dilated pupils almost give him a look of childish wonder), and second, the sparks were generated by running a strong current through wires in the actors' sleeves into the blades - not something they could get away with these days, I believe.
That's quite cool to know they used real electric, I've seen it in other movies though so it must have been a tried and tested technique in Hollywood.
Nowadays they would just CGI everything
"You will always be weaker than me!"
Macleod might have been weaker but he still won the fight.
@@archangelstormrider3695 Conor is easily the better swordsman
Mr Krabs has come a long way 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They don't make em like that anymore.
I believe the krugan died smiling because he knew he lived every day of his immortal life and went out doing what he loved the most, battle
Perfect actor I was scared shitless of the Kurgan when I was a kid. Im still a tad im 45 lol jokes ....that aaaaaaargh he does always gets me
Kurgan's death makes me sad someway
@burtonrules123 yeah, it was his "reward" for all he did
@burtonrules123 yeah
@burtonrules123 I can justify the kurgan going grand theft auto on people when he kidnapped brenda. He’s immortal and not bound to mortal laws and he was out having a blast running people down. Good stuff. Like a kid who gets to play with big wheels or find his dads gun. Nice to see kurgan loves to have a good time.
Would you believe the secret to immortality is a special shampoo. Ask Frilock
0:26 - ... TTONNGG!!! It sounds like a cartoon sound effect, lol.
There can be only ONE.
Never forget the final battle of Raiden from Mortal Kombat versus mr. Crab
Man Sucker Punch would make a great game out of this
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!! HIGHLANDER FOREVER
Best part of the movie. The background music at 2:02 is epic and spectacular.
I hope they don't remake this movie like they're planning to. If they do, though, they better give us the dragon.
Maybe they will have Mcleuad talk normally, which might be cool and give him a bit more charm not complain all the time Ramírez or act like a twirp maybe he has comebacks when he’s training with Ramirez so he’s awake.
The director of joh wick is working in the remake
So i think it could be better
@@knightwarrioranimations9656 Connor was only 18-19 when he become Immortal so that characterization of cocky, punk kid he had in the flashbacks actually makes perfect sense in context
Well they doing remake and actor is Henry Cavill.
And to think that Kurgan could have won if he had just worn chainmail neck armor, since testing have shown that samurai swords are totally useless against chainmail since the samurai never used chainmail.
2:18 THE GREATEST MOMENT!!!
There can be only one.
2:35 there can only be one Kurgen pez dispenser!
aint gonna lie-he had him in the first half
1:46, are you feeling it now Mr. Krabs?
This is the one!!
I love Highlander, the story and the characters are great. But the execution could be so much better.
Yeah, the final act felt a little rushed
Execution was perfect in my opinion, the church scene, ramirez training mcleod. I don't know how that could have been better executed.
@@RM-bv6dl the fight choreography could've been better, but it WAS the 80's
There only can be one
Can you believe Clancy Brown was 26-27cwhen he did this film he looks way older like in his early to mid 30s
Keith David was 26 in The Thing.
@@Filthy_Larry I know but he looked way older I always kept saying no way he was 26 that's what I hate I'm 27 right now and I don't even look 27 I look younger sometimes I feel like I don't look my age
@@petergresh516 I’m 41 lol. It’s because we are men and not women. Women get old at 30 which is why we as men like women 18-25
This would be great as a production on ice
"I know his name"
Kurgan did not have a good head on his shoulders. Kurgan really lost his head this time. Kurgan will never be the head of a major corporation.
C'mon, it's only a flesh wound
The Kurgan would go on to reincarnate as Hank Anderson, leading a completely opposite life as a glum, embittered, aging, and yet heroic mortal guardian of society, working together with an android named Connor to free android kind.
2:19 defiant to the end
There can be only one
Now Plankton will never get the secret formula
Holy Gorgon's of mc klans of mclouds
I would love to see a good remake of this movie
I wouldn't. This is far too classic to mess with.
@@archangelstormrider3695 It is a classic but I love the concept and the story line.
You cut it at the best part!
This is highly improbable.
Sorry Viter / Viktor... No victory stance this time! There can only be one!
Question... could you do a sword fight like this with a katana vs a Bastard Sword or Small Claymore? Wouldnt the bigger heavier strait sword destroy the blade on the Kata which was meant for slicing blows?
Yeah no problem (A bastard/longsword isn't much difference in weight to a katana), the trope about katana being light & delicate is not accurate, they're about as thick as swords get & would get chipped & bent a bit, but not to the point of being unusable (any sword clashing with any other sword will cause damage)
A "real" fight looks nothing like this movie. "Realism", and "Highlander" do not belong in the same sentence. The purpose of a real swordfight is to kill the opponent, not to clang, clang purposelessly against his blade. Enough said.
@@Kamamura2 You are right. In the entire course of history, nobody ever parried a sword blow with another sword...
I know this will anger the fans of this film but we have to admit that the music is way better than the movie itself. It literally saves the film.
There are times when music will make the movie. This in my humble opinion is a great movie with great music.
It literally is simply a well fitting, good score LOL It didn't "make the movie" that's same as saying the original star wars score "saved star.wars". The Two were integral.
@@exspiravit6920 take the score away and the movie collapses.
This would be really cool with light sabers.
One thing I don't get before he got his head cut off why did the kurgans eyes turn black for
I do like the Kurgan's jacket
Still a badass sword fight scene
Aw man.. should have show the best part where everything explode and electrical surge.. its the highlander hallmark..
lol this is clancy brown, he's also the final boss character on dexter!
