    I own this car (the 2023 version, which looks identical except some minor differences) and I am very happy with it. It is basically gimmick free, and everything just works well. The build quality is amazing and it feels much nicer than other cars in this segment. The back doors opening wide is super useful, something I didn't even consider as relevant.

    Idk if it's as bad elsewhere in Europe but a major problem with Honda is their pricing. Toyota has rather expensive starting prices for their cars here in Finland, but Honda is way worse. HR-V starts at 37,000€. No wonder they only sold 200 cars last year to Toyota's 14 thousand (or Nissans 2,6 thousand). Honda makes good cars but they are way too expensive for what they are right now, I remember seeing Civics everywhere in the early 2000's, now I don't see any new Hondas which is no wonder since they sell even less than Subaru and Lexus.

It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified. Hondas used to be all over the roads but these days I barely see one. Their pricing strategy is out of control. They're pricing like they're a premium car maker but they're not and neither are their engines and drive trains. I don't get it.

    • @user-hi8np4nm2v
      @user-hi8np4nm2v Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@SDav21Their pricing is justifiable because Honda is way more reliable than BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc.... the CR-V is the 3rd best selling SUV in the world behind only to RAV4 and Tesla Model Y. In the USA and Canada, Honda is everywhere.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 Před 2 měsíci

      @@user-hi8np4nm2v Their pricing is maybe justifiable in the US and Canada where it isn't 30% more than a Rav4 or Mazda CX5 both of which are equally, if not more, reliable. You can't compare the CRV to a Mercedes, BMW or Audi. It isn't close to that level in terms of drivetrains, suspension components or technology. And it most certainly isn't justifiable being the same price as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 diesel and it is much smaller than a Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. For the rest of the world, the Honda is over priced. It's price is therefore not justified and that's why Honda is fading into irrelevance everywhere else in the world. Their cars are not competitive enough to warrant an extra 30% more than it's direct competitors from Toyota, Mazda, VW, Hyundai and Kia.

      As a total outsider, I would guess that the EU market has the highest amount of accountability and maybe liability/exposure. I’m referring directly to environmental, safety and social exposures companies face when engaging the EU market. Which is good but it is not free. Big stories of Microsoft, Apple and Google are well known but this also applies to everything else. In other words, it costs more to sell a product in the EU so it is more. No doubt it is more complicated but we’re not going to peal back those layers in a comments section.

    Did the engineer from Mercedes move to Japan and too his fake exhaust with him? As pedestrian as the CR-V is, it has one of the best panoramic sunroofs on the market. Because it open internally, it can open fully and flush with no overlap.
    There's no need for carmakers to include built-in USB A ports at this point. If anyone still has those legacy electronics, its a simple fix to order an adapter for a few bucks. Too bad the door bins are not lined, meaning anything you put in them will be rattling around as you drive.

    This setup is called a parallel hybrid. This is basically how a Prius works. It is actually pretty economical to run. They’re really catching on in India. The economy on highway speeds here (100-120 kph) is around 20 kmpl. These cars are a great stop gap for us in developing nations that cannot quite afford a full blown electric car.

    • @faeinthebay
      @faeinthebay Před 2 měsíci +1

      I believe Honda and Toyota use different systems. Toyota has a power split transmission that can divert any ratio of power between the wheels and the motor-generator. Honda has the engine connected to a generator, with an optional clutch that can connect it to the wheels around 90 kph. This means that a Prius can have the engine connected to the wheels more often, while Honda could have more torque.

    I have the previous CR-V 1.5 193 AWD CVT, done 90+k km with it, including many long rides of 1500 km. It is very good car, fun and enjoyable to drive. This new model for me looks more like refinement, incremental improvement in many aspects. Unfortunately I do not think I will be buying it anytime soon due to the pricing. Recently I asked my local dealer here in NL how much it would cost to trade-in my current CR-V with the new model... the difference is like 25k EUR or more for HEV. For 5-10k EUR less I think I could get maybe Mazda CX60 PHEV, or Toyota RAV4, even the new Tiguan would be significantly cheaper. We will see though in 2-3 years, the pricing could be corrected, hopefully.

    It’s a nice car but too overpriced. For the same cost as the entry level bare-bones version here in Sweden, you could get a certified preowned facelift 4th gen Lexus RX 450h that’s fully loaded (incl. Carplay/android auto), comes with winter tyres, and that has 6-8 years of extended warranty left. Sure the used Lexus might have run for 50000-100000 kms, but considering that the extended warranty covers up to 200000 km and that the old Lexus/Toyota V6 easily runs for 400000 km, it’s not a big concern. In the Nordic market the CR-V is simply a poor value proposition, which is a pity as it’s a much nicer looking car compared to the RAV4.

    These are amazing machines and competing quite well with perennial Top Dog Toyota Rav4 the latter of which continues to make a big push into hybrid with the Rav4 Prime. Honda CRV materially larger i think is the big difference between the two. Tesla Model Y still making a lot of noise in this hugely profitable vehicle segment both in upon North America and globally. "Self driving"(hands free) is still what sets Tesla apart from Toyota and Honda and is a game changer for the actual driving experience and for safety same said. Legacy pure play ICE Honda and Toyota will continue to need to "run to stand still" to keep pace with Tesla the Insurgent as a consequence. Winner i agree: actual buyers. Great time if there be the respurces to buy this vehicle and like types.

    It really looks and feels great this new CRV but looking at the package as a whole (at least in my country) it should be priced at least 10k Euros below the current price when compared to Korean/Japanese and German competitors. For 54k eu what is a starting price here you can buy either diesel or PHEV Mazda CX60, or even a Volvo XC60 which are in my humble opinion a class above. Not to mention Tucson, Sportage, Tiguan, Kuga, CX5, Forester... SUVs from Stelantis group are maybe only worse priced cars in the segment. But this is not the worst priced Honda in my country. Idiotic ZRV is only 5k cheaper than the CRV with a pathetic boot that is smaller than in a Dacia Sandero and only FWD. Honda is really not trying to do any good in Europe obviously, and they are looking to have a large profit on a every single car they sell, and not going for mass sales results.
