    Try a toaster! Everyone has a toaster and it draws A LOT of power. This might be cool for people on Van life, I've been watching a lot of those videos.
    Great video! I'm sure Jackery will find you to send you a sample. ;)
    It's great to have a battery backup, especially these days, you never know what the weather will bring.

      Oh... I've been eyeing those Jackery boxes too LOL. I REALLY need to invest in some better solar panels though.
      And yeah. Just crazy how temperature focused gadgets draw INSANE amounts of power. My coffee maker hit 1000W 👀

    These things are so cool. I've been meaning to get something like this to power a small fridge for when I need to take my meds on camping trips and such. Thanks for the review! I'd love to see more videos of things in this category :)

      @SomeGadgetGuy  Před rokem +2

      That's EXACTLY why we want this gear. My wife and I both have meds that need to stay cool.

    Great video as always! I completely agree that it would be great for these devices to be usable as a UPS. I'd love to stash one in my Fiance's office so we don't have to worry about power outages that last less than an hour. I'm excited to see what you review in the future in this category.

    Hot diggity this thing is intriguing. Also cheers to you, my fellow Eagle Scout!

    I have one of these for my ham radio. It works great! My biggest complaint is that the power supply for this devices gets very hot! And that is expected by the instruction manual.

    I’m partial to battery backups over generators. Besides drawing unwanted attention to yourself (the human crappiness factor), generators are easy to neglect, resulting in failure right when you need them. Battery backups require a lot less maintenance - so they should be ready to go. And if the power is out for an extended time, and in a large area, where are you going to get more gas if you run out? No power means no working gas pumps.
    But there will always be sun and wind to recharge.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Před rokem +1

      The cost certainly looks intimidating compared to a generator, but I really think more people would benefit from power stations for exactly those reasons.

    Power went out a couple days ago so I lugged out the generator, put gas in it and started it up to keep the fridge and WiFi on. Worked great, but when the power came back on a few hours later I had to put all the extension cords away and drain the gas out of the generator which took a decent amount of time. Something like this would probably be a good option for people who don't want to deal with storing fuel and maintaining a gas generator.

      It's a LOT more expensive up front, but I think it's also a LOT easier for people to use.

    If you want to charge it under extreme emergency situations, for battery stations like this that have bi-directional USB C charging, I'd recommend the "Zeus Dynamo Hand-Crank Generator".
    Its a massive USB-C hand-crank generator that charges up to 60 watts.
    USB C Male to DC adapters exist for battery stations that have a DC input. (CRAVE for example)

    I wonder how this compares against the Anker Powerhouse power station you reviewed a while back.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Před rokem +2

      VERY well. Anker fans are quieter, Anker has a higher watt usbc output, and a mode that resembles a UPS.
      Otherwise, it's a pretty even fight.

    Great purpose, but an absolute monstrosity. That need to use bright yellow to represent tools related to electricity needs to stop.
    Thankfully Anker and Jackery got our backs, bright yellow haters 🤣
