The most amazing part about Kajol for me is how real she is in all her interviews. She speaks her mind and ends up giving lessons in between. She is carefree and is not “proper” which makes me me love her so much. Anupama mam has a way of making them feel so comfortable. Please continue doing such wonderful interviews. The insights given is truly worthwhile.

Speaking mind is fine but it has not mean something useful. Aajkal koi bhi intellectual banane ki koshish karta hai. One on one interview mein kuch bhi bolna easy hai. Because there is no one there to challenge her intellect.
She indeed works on herself and that shows in her way of describing what she truly feels about something, she is absolutely nonchalant. I absolutely love that she broke down the power of decision making in a household. Financial power is often looked at, if women start earning, she gets the power to spend her money the way she wants but I have been knowing and seeing it all my life that even if women earns, still the man gets to decide where that money will be spent or will that be right to spend or not. He has the say in denying or allowing the expenditure. This is such a minor thing to look at but still such a big thing. Thank you for saying it out loud, we have such a long way to go.

Kajol is right. Even among working women, earning women, we have men handling their bank accounts, finances or dictating how their money will be spent or not. Women do not handle own finances in India even if they are earning. Usually it is men who decide where to spend money, when etc. Women are not final decision makers in deciding where money will be spent and how much. This is why most tickets for films are bought by men. Indian cinema is male dominated just like society. Men also have more outward mobility compared to women and are more likely to go out and watch films compared to women. Most of first day first show type theatre going audience is male. So no wonder films are male dominated.
Bang on .. Its something i hv thought about multiple times. There are so many layers around this issue which people hardly mention. Fact is that the position of a woman in the society and the larger issues affect the supposedly smaller ones like their position in cinema.
@@radhikarb7047 Yes and this is also a reason why TV is female dominated and most serials are focused on only female leads, as bulk of viewers likely to watch TV at home, are women and Indian women are more likely to sit home than go out and buy tickets to watch cinema. Also home viewers are more likely to watch family dramas which is why we lack suspense or action or thriller or any deep social issue based content on TV. Most shows are religious or feature housewives as most Indian women are still predominantly housewives and highly religious. So there are multiple complex layers to any issue. A lot of women who claim to admire Piku or Queen may have seen it on DVD or online or on TV and not necessarily bought first day first show tickets for these films. Woman oriented films also find more audience online or on TV, DVD compared to theatre and most Indian women are overworked and hardly able to find 3 straight hours to see a film. They go to theatre only if husband or kids or father or brother or other family or friends allow them or accompany them. Otherwise they remain tied to their home

I don’t want to be negative here but Anupama was asking if woman have it all. Ofcourse they don’t. Indra Nooyi was a chairperson. Her question was definitely not answered thoroughly. Kajol really couldn’t get it. But kudos to Anupama for picking really good questions.

Did they have to adapt such an iconic series and butcher it? For anyone who has watched the original, The Good Wife (7 seasons) ended in 2016 but its spinoff, The Good Fight ended this year (6 seasons). So it is a series that lasted 13 years. I'll stick to re-binging the original. The best legal drama of the past decade and a half.

Things are just exaggerated nowadays just to attract eyeballs. I am not married but a lot of my cousin or friends are married , decisions are made jointly. With both of them working, any huge investments or spending has to be approved by the other person. Sure I have a very small sample set but things are improving.
it also has to do with the people who are going to watch movies. What percentage of population of our country actually watch a movie is also to be considered in your data and among them how many are women who decide to watch a film. Like kajol said, watching a movie is luxury. Obviously 99.9 % was exaggerated but the real data wont be far from it also.
