Palki Sharma Upadhyay on the Evolution of Indian News & Journalism Ethics | Karishma Mehta | Ep 63

- “We all have a #MeToo story - we’ve all been through difficult situations on public transport, schools, colleges, and tuitions. While most of us have internalised this whole thing and decided, ‘I’ll be more careful next time,’ there were a few who chose to speak up about their plight. The culprits were named and shamed, and yet, no action was taken. What was the point of it all, then?
I believe this is why we need more women in positions of power. So those women can lend courage and support to others and tell them, ‘You’re not alone!’”

About Humans of Bombay -
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 9 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres - stories of love, hope, faith and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 5M!
Our idea is simple - to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.
What a great interview.

Nice interview..Palki ma'am is an inspiration..She does a great job!.I have been travelling to different places as part of my Corporate job. No matter where I 'am , her news show is THE one that I have always looked forward to watch.Lovely ending with a सुभाषित !
absolutely absolutely love Palki, what a graceful woman she is!!
We couldn’t agree more! ❤️
And Karisha Mehta should be ASHAMED for filing case against similar sounding CZcams Channel, when she herself Lifted the Channel's name from US's CZcamsr
Nope .you are Papu media and if you don’t like just hell out of this window .and see some bakhadutt podcast it would be great 😂

I am following palki Sharma for last 10 years ,over the years she is now mature enough to give her prospective in a more clear manner
She is so well-read and well-travelled that it is always a pleasure to watch her be it as an anchor or as someone who is being interviewed by someone else.
Loved the logic she gave for not being able to attend the PTMS of her daughter or son sometimes. 'I am juggling many balls. There will be some that I will drop and some that I will pick, but I am always there for you when you need me.' I think this is how frank every mother should be with their kids so that their kids grow up to become realistic parents.
Have been her fan for years now and still get excited whenever se does a podcast. She is phenomenal and an inspiration to many💥❤ Thanks Humans of Bombay for this amazing interview. 🤗 And I have to agree, her sarees are exceptional 🤩
We are fans too! ❤️
Thank you Humans of Bombay to bring Palki ma'am on your show. What an interview! Love the way in which ma'am answer every question with her personal experiences and at last a wonderful message of 'seeking knowledge' with a beautiful sanskrit shloka.

I am anyway a huge fan of hers’
And I think it won’t be wrong to suggest she is the first journo from India to have spoken about Konrad. Brilliant! 🙏🏻✨💙👏🏻

It was an interesting interview. A few details should be added; Germany was only able to be rebuilt due to America's Marshall Plan which lent $15 billion, this was a huge sum for the time to a country that had caused so much destruction & has still not fully paid reparations for damage to those it relentlessly bombed. Charles de Gaulle was a strange man who admired Churchill yet held an odd grudge against Britain (he was given headquarters in London during the war) & America who liberated France at great national cost, because they chose not follow his tactics. He wanted to restore the glory & honour of France after the war which makes me wonder about a sense of shame & resentment. He was an important figure in the resistance, but later showed ingratitude by trying to isolate Britain. Churchill had a difficult relationship with him, he said "He is selfish, arrogant, he believes the world revolves around him. NB France is the last colonialist country in Europe which is a great source of conflict in Africa. Hypocrisy is a word often used by Sharma but it exists worldwide, Modi's increased restriction on the freedom of the news in India is never mentioned or opposed.
Never before seen side of Palki! Fascinating to understand journalism from the inside.
Always well presented by Palki ji . God Bless you

the last sanskrit quote was told in Bharatiya vidya bhavan..my school
She is a credit to journalism
I'm a huge fan of Humans for Bombay. But I have to say doing interviews with celebrities and well known personalities makes a mockery of Humans of Bombay. To affiliate the brand name with interviews with these people makes an absolute mockery of the whole ideology of humans of Bombay. Let's be honest the brand is a copy of the original Humans of New York and you have profited from all these soulful and heartfelt stories of ordinary people. You should use your own name or a different podcast name if you want to interview celebrities. It just doesn't feel right.
What a great interview
❤️❤️
Great interview!❤
We agree! 🙏🏻❤️
I love Palki and he in depth analysis on topics. I stumbled on this perhaps because I often watch Firstpost. This whole interview was so uppity and artificial and not down to earth at all. This Karishma lady seems very high society glamour girl. Waste of time for common Indians
This is what first thing that came into my mind when I started watching this podcast.
I'm not fan of Karishma or haven't heard of her ( except a recent controversy and LinkedIn+ Instagram posts) much but definitely like palki's work that she been doing with wion and now first post. Karishma doesn't give me good vibe or kind of negative vibes. Maybe because of the type of work she has been doing.. i remember a LinkedIn post about a girl who was asking for money from people so that she can go to MIT or some foreign University to study etc..) she was promoting that on her LinkedIn.
Thank you madam
Thanks for the Superb Interview with Palki Maam
Thanks palki sharma for oxford speech ❤❤❤❤

She is also a boot licker of the present government😅😮
Palki Sharmaji, at one point, you likened पात्रताम् to मित्रताम्। But पात्रताम् is deservingness/meritoriousness and doesn't have much to do with मित्रताम्। Kudos to Humans of Bombay and Palkiji.
Palki at her best. Howmuchevr you listen to her, you want more and more. Thanks for this great interview Karishma Mehta. I loved the way you do it. Keep it up.

@@humansofbombay2801 Mam I am your fan too. Thanks for this podcast. Such journalism, like Palki's is the need of the hour... Thanks for making sincere efforts to keep it alive. Lots of respect 😌🥰
I want to know about the north east. They are chronically underrepresented and have to deal with racist remarks from some pigs in the Indian heartland, including in my state of Tamil Nadu. All Indians deserve equal respect!
We need not to focus on putting tick in all the boxes , which are assigned by society, the process of growing up involves our own generated unique formulas , and this is what makes our individual identity , that we should not be ashamed of and feel no regret about it , no matter how we are going to be labelled by society .
She is fentabulous !
We agree! ❤️

Well it's true that we're still largely a patriarchal society but what about men who've been traumatized due to one or the reason caused by a woman? Indian laws don't favor men in such cases anyway. Let's talk about a #Hetoo

Umm, Manipur is dangerous to go but Israel isn't hmm good one Paliki.
She didn't say one war is less or more!! But wanna say palki ma'am is working on Manipur story hope she covered the whole story and exposed..her way of interpretation & delivering news is very nice and understandable because she is very gorgeous 🤩🥰 palki ma'am hope this text reach you out❤
Kya Manipur Manipur lga rkha h har jgh. She needs a global outreach which is fair enough because no Indian channel carries that in them, yet. Also, will you provide her with security in Manipur?
@@jasmeetminhas2152 Those who provided her "security" in Israel & Ukraine can easily do that in Manipur as well.
@@parthgupta6411 nope both are geographically n politically different regions
There is a difference between being a victim and playing a victim.
Every one faces problems. Only that women want to play the victim card everytime amd men prefer not to. That doesn't mean that men don't face problems.
Harping about problems and using it to play the victim card is unethical. If there has been something illegal it should be complained
Palki did hesitate talking Manipur even now. It seems she has regrets
Nowadays news is 20 percent fact and 80 percent the personal opinion of the anchor and/or channel.

OMG...this chick is acting that she's the epitome of true journalism....
#absurd? #HONY 🇺🇸✌🏻
Good one but a few pointers from my end:
1) Palki says not going to Manipur was a choice, so as not to 'fuel the fire' with misinformation. The same applies to Israel-Hamas conflict but she did go there. This conflict too is seeing excess of misinformation and propaganda.
2) Till date i have never seen any tv journalist apologise for saying something incorrect.
3) She has often said that people watch a particular news channel because they like what they want to hear being told to them. So does it mean the media is fully aware of the audience's biases and purposely feeds it by changing narratives and forming popular opinions?
3) pretty much yes, but it also has some truth to it I believe
I hope you know the situation in Manipur is totally different from isreal-hamas thingy.
Manipur is part of India what happened there is coz missionaries are in large scale with khalistani support.... Google you will get the details... but yes peace restoration is important 🙏
