    I'd seen the 2022 previews, and decided to get the 2021 model. I don't need the HUGE vertical screen as the old standard is fine. I prefer the looks of the 2021 front end better too. AND, I was guessing the 2022 would be significantly more which was a good guess. So, I'm very pleased with my '21 model year. Not a MAX model but still great for hauling the grand kids and trips. Best highway milage so far was 22.5 mpg Texas to Florida. All around average using the ECO mode is 16.5 to 17 mpg. All in town drops to 14/15 all on regular gas. LOVE this ride.

    Apples to apples(21 limited 302 pkg and 22 limited 302 pkg with same features), they are the same price. The 10k price gets u a completely different engine, better sound system, and exterior pieces.

      I thought Ford and others were cracking down on dealerships charging well over msrp on vehicles also. My local Ford dealer has a 50k markup over msrp on a 2022 f450. Good looking out @Ford

    I strongly prefer the front end of the 2021. Not a fan of the more round look on the newer ones. As others said, these are different trim models. This is a new version of the expy. It is a refresh. The only change is the screens and the front end.

    On the 2021, 4A with either Snow or Mud mode will be the same as 4 High. Plus the rear diff locker was available as an option in 2021.

    I currently have a 21 Limited Max that stickers for 73k.
    I have a 22 Limited Max on order that’s option for option. I didn’t get the 15” screen ($800) and opted for the 12” screen instead (I like having my climate control buttons). It’s literally just shy of 75k. That’s less than a 2k difference.
    The options on the 21 reviewed has to be drastically different than the 22 to be a 10k difference in price.

    • @filterfreephotography
      @filterfreephotography Před 2 lety +1

      The difference is due to the Stealth Performance package which is just under $10k. That is why you are seeing the difference in price.
      I have a 2019 Stealth that had a $79K sticker. Pricing on the 2022 with similar configure but upping to the Performance, brings it to around $82K.
      This video has a misleading title.

    Hey Ben. Question. Does the stealth package have the 22 speaker system? Isn’t that a better sound system then the 10 speaker that’s in the XLT and Limited? Just curious. No one seems to make a radio review. I’d like to know if that’s a big difference. Thanks.

      I sale Fords in NC. You have to Stealth packages to choose from.
      The first one is more of a appearance package. You get the look and none of the engine performance. The 12 speaker B&O sound system is the only option. Just shy of a 5k option.
      The second package gives you the new 22 speaker B&O unleashed audio system with the high output 3.5. That’s just shy of 10k.

    I like Bens reviews but they could be so much better if he just did a little more research on the vehicles he was reviewing. Seems like he’s been phoning it in recently. These two cars are not comparable in trim packages and there’s a reason why a 22’ expy with a 303a package is 10k more. If that same 21’ expy had a stealth package it would be 80k easily. They’re just not the same car option wise.

  • @monkeyslap

    Back in August I traded my 2012 F150 for a 2021 Expedition Max. Let me tell you, it has been the most expensive *downgrade* I ever would have thought. Compared to the F150, this thing is a piece of shit on wheels that cost $20k+ more than what I paid for the F150 brand new.
    Everyone, do yourselves a favor and get a Suburban instead if you need a vehicle this size. Otherwise just get an F150. I literally want to just put a brick on the gas pedal and let her fly off into the Grand Canyon.

    • @matfave6591
      @matfave6591 Před 2 lety

      For what reasons? I have a 13' F150 that I am very happy with and my wife has an explorer I've considered trading for an expedition.

    • @monkeyslap
      @monkeyslap Před 2 lety +1

      @@matfave6591 It's easy to say that some of these things should have been known before purchasing the vehicle, but you won't truly understand the extent of their annoyance unless you've actually had time to experience the vehicle.
      1. Poor assembly. A variety of fenders and taillights, and bumper sections squeak to high hell when you add minor pressure. Weatherstripping was incorrectly installed in a couple places. Front tow hook molding looked like it was smashed in. Had the dealer do as much fixing of the molding and weatherstripping as per warranty.
      2. I have the FX4 package, and it comes with All-Terrain tires. Although they are marked as "A/T", I wouldn't trust these to do anything but drive in the suburb. The tread looks more like an all-season tread, and the tire isn't even rated for snow.
      3. Doesn't matter what position your driver's seat or steering wheel are in, you will feel like you're driving a minivan. It has nothing to do with how fast or not the vehicle is, but the seat position, ride height, and sound of the engine.
      4. Although ground clearance is stated to be 0.4" higher than an F150, your actual road visibility is reduced because of vehicle shape, seat height (even at max setting), etc.
      5. 3rd row seats are ONLY electronic. You cannot manually fold them at all. Not only that, the ONLY controls to fold/unfold them are in the trunk. Imagine picking up some extra passengers... Whelp, gotta get out of the car, open the trunk, push the button, close the trunk, then get back in the driver's seat. To my knowledge, this is STILL a problem for 2022.
      6. Floor carpet seems to be juuuuust the right size to barely fit under the door trim. Just barely, but I can pull it out without any effort.
      7. I haven't noticed any difference in mpg between Normal and Eco driving modes.
      8. Mpg is no better than the 5.0 Coyote.
      9. 110V outlet is only 150W. F150 at least got 400W option. 150W is good for charging phones/ipads and not much more. Essentially useless if you do anything else with the vehicle, like camping.
      10. When 3rd row is unfolded to fit extra passengers, trunk won't even fit a folded up stroller. Yes, this is with the MAX model.
      11. When sun visor is turned to driver's side window, you have zero visibility of oncoming or cross-street traffic
      12. Nonadjustable headrests
      13. Electronic thumb sensor to lock/unlock vehicle does not work as intended. It's inconsistent: locks, when it's supposed to unlock, and vice versa. Sometimes takes 4-5 tries to get it to do what it's supposed to
      14. Gas tank is 28.3 gal. Doesn't get you as far as an F150 36 gal tank would. They probably did this to help with mileage, but it's no better than the F150 V8.
      That's what I can think of so far. Basically the ONLY advantage you have with this vehicle over an F150 is this carries a few more people. But at what sacrifice?! Same mpg, less fuel capacity, less tow capacity, less visibility, features make less sense or don't always work, etc.
