bravo sir! Top quality content as per! Keep it up!
Seriously though, this is definitely one of those few modules I would Manhunt for my starter dream Eurorack rig someday; I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard the folded + overdriven sine blast through the headset in Nick Batt's earlier video review.
Of course, hearing the real deal yourself is objectively the best way to experience such a banger price-affordable piece of sound source module.
I think for the price you really can't go wrong with a Big-O!
Think I might grab the Captn for my first VCO. I like the Honeyeater as well.
For the money the Captain is hard to beat!
this is soooo goood!
Thank you for great videos. This is my favourite synth channel.
Thank you!! :D
Never used osc sync that way. Thanks for covering it!
It's my fav kind of sync sounds :)
28:50 !Massive!
Is this module practical enough for you to keep around forbyourboqn use? I thought I told myself no with this module already because I honestly can't stand the way it looks and has no octave switch. Now I want one again. Your video really shows off how good it sounds its insane. I have a bastl pizza oscillator that I'm not in love with looking to replace it. Originally wanted a versatile digital oscillator to replace pizza but this thing sounds so good.
This is the only analogue oscillator I own so I’ll definitely be keeping it. It does sound very good, and I love the drive, wave folding and FM. I think for the price it’s pretty insane. You could always put some stickers over the front panel lol
this sounds huuuuuge!
is there a way to use this outside the context of a modular system? I have a few semi modulars, and I have a rack that could power this module but I dont have any other elements of a synth voice in modular form...
Do any of your semi-modulars have an external input? If so, you could use it as an extra oscillator which will go through the filter/vca, etc of that synth :)
Just a quick question! - If you could only keep one of 2 modules, Data Bender and Maths. Which would you choose?
Defo keeping the data bender! I mostly only use maths for LFOs and envelopes so it can be replaced by other modules ☺️
Cool, at 29:07 the sound of dogs barking
haha I hear it!!
I have a keystep and niftycase, would you be so kind as to explain, for a novice, how do I connect the keyboard in this system
The keystep has pitch and gate out on the back. Patch the pitch into your oscillator 1v/o and the gate can be used to trigger an envelope for a filter or VCA :)
I also have this setup but, for some reason, whenever I play it only plays unbearably high notes😳 Keep up the good work💖
@@reelreviewdude5126 Hit "octave down" on the keystep a few times! And turn your oscillator pitches all the way down it plays like 5 octaves higher than most other controllers. you may be able to configure the default octave in the software as well
@@reelreviewdude5126 ya turn the pitch down all the way on your VCO and push that octave down button.
Linear n expo fm✌️
hell yea!
Is Pam's synced to the keystep here?
They are not physically synced but running at the same BPM and triggered in time :)
@@TheUnperson "in time" meaning, like you pushed start at the same time and hope for the best?
Since no one asked: I have Pam's following Din Sync from the Digitakt, which has two MIDI outs, either of which can send Din/Sync, bless it.
I tried sending Din-Sync from VCV Rack through my ES-3 with limited success - something about DC offset I think, b/c it kind of worked when I used an AC coupler (RC filter) on the clock signal, but it was very fiddly. I also had trouble getting VCV to follow Din/Sync from Pams sent through the ES-4. For now, I sync VCV to Pams by sending midi to the DT by hosting the DT overbridge VST in Host, then sending Din-sync to Pams. There is latency between the clock sent to the DT Host and the audio input from the modular received inside Rack, which I account for `manually` by inserting a delay on the clock signals inside VCV.
So ZZC Clock inside VCV is the boss, it sends 24PPQN and Run/stop goes to DT's Host without a delay, but anything else inside Rack gets delayed clock signals (including reset).
For extra fun, the delay time changes every time I restart my computer, so I need to use a scope to make sure I've got it ligned up. So far I don't recall it changing mid session.
Haha exactly! :D
I had to read through that a few times ~ I think I understand lol
I think it sound a bit like my manther...
