Sampling Synths with the Teenage Engineering KO2!
Sampling mono synths is a class technique in electronic music so I thought I'd put the Teenage Engineering KO2 through it's paces as see if I can sample in some sounds and make a track. I decided to go for the Behringer Odyssey which is a fantastic sounding mono synth with a vintage character. I think the track turned out pretty good and even included some impromptu singing!

Still not got much out of my Beads- but I dare not sell it in case I miss out on stuff like this… Oh, and I wish I could get my Keystep to do that- if I press a key with an arp already playing the arp dies. Perhaps I’m a firmware or two behind.

Plaits is a pain in the ass when it comes to tuning the sounds. I cannot recommend this module.
With the octave mode set it’s super easy to tune. Was your module calibrated correctly?
@@Pamaracas my problem is when I chose a sound and tune it and then step into a different sound category the tune gets lost and I have to tune again.
@@Finn.Diesel If you go to 2 operator FM mode and turn timbre all the way left it gives you a pure sin wave. I’ve found if I tune to that everything is in tune regardless of algo.

TIL: Plaits is the perfect generative ambient drone. (Just add reverb) I use the granular cloud mode _all the time_ as a super-saw... never thought to crank the harmonics all the way up and take a bath in it!

When I started modular in January this year, Pixie (After Later Audio's clone of Plaits) was in the first batch of modules coming in. I enjoy it in every patch I create, and Vowel is one of my favorite settings as when modulating Timbre and Morph and using heavy effects processing the spoken words sound just awesome. Thank you for another great quality video.

An amazing video!! Can you explain me all the setup, cables, conections you need to do with your phone to samplig like you with spotify? I LOVE THAT, please help me!! I'll receive my KO II on wednesday and im so excited to do stuff like this!
Thanks! You just need a stereo minijack cable to go from your phone to the input on the KO2. If you have an iPhone then you will need an adapter too, as there’s no jack output.

Never tried that, but Beads did not click with me as a granular fx module. This mode on the other hand is really great!
It took me a long time to click with beads. I really disliked it at first, but quite enjoy it now ☺️
Can you tell me what's in the case to the right of Plaits? I see Beads and DataBender but can't make out the other modules.
There’s the dual dagger stereo filter, a passive mult, and the fx aid multi-effect.
