- Cre8audio launch two new Eurorack modules in their own inimitable marketing style - the Capt’n Big-O and Mr Phil Ter.
What makes them more interesting, aside from the dreadful punnery, is that they have been designed by Pittsburgh Audio - who make some really great sounding stuff. How does it stack up?

a real tube scope, congrats to that find! Capt'n Big-O is definitely on my interest list because of my latest addiction to oscillators without oct steps ;)
gooooood concept... u are fast enough that i understand by the thing of the moment what you say... my english is bad, but good with you.... thank you!
das system steht dir und mir auch... hmm...
The filter sounds really nice! But that VCO is The Perfect Storm starring George Clooney. In 2021, there are a _ton_ of good $99 analog oscillators but the majority are similar in sounds and basic features. For an extra 50, the Capt'n does quite a bit more. It's gonna make waves I tell ye.
Girth delivers the big O.
Great video comme toujours. Nice modules & some hefty low end. Affordable. Will add to my Nifty case. Love the terrible names. Cre8 need a massive reverb with a terrible name, replace Fulsome Clouds, howabout 'Batt Cave' in honour of Nick's ambient noodles?
How is the Batt Cave not a thing already!?
Ordered a Capt’nFishyFingers over the weekend. Can’t wait. Yeeearrrrrrr!! Me fucking hearties! 😜
KI’m il my k ilk ikoijlmkipl juju k ilklljpp’
4:17 +1 for Nick. But I also like it.
8:55 I see that filter mouth Nick :-P
“girth”
It’s called the Big O not the Big D.
👍
It would be interesting to note that I think I only saw you push the folding to about 1/3, whereas you had the drive at full tilt at times. I've read on MW that the last 1/3 of the fold knob isn't working on some units. Not sure if thats the case here, but if it was I would expect an honest review to point that out.

After so many Behringer clones, finally a clone of the Behringer Eurorack 😋
What is a clone of a Behringer product?!
@@Natemasterflex It's a joke, Berhinger released Eurodesk mixers some 2 decades ago. It's only a clone in name 😊
Eurorack, aka EuroCrack is like Hornby model railways for the x generation. A never-ending, life-changing hobby that swallows up £££s and more £££s.. just one more module and I'm going to quit buying modules, I promise.
I'll stick with Cheerios and Weetabix, don't need to change things up.
I'm not even sure why I watch this.... But always nice to see what's in the market, even though I'm not interested in this. Who knows? One day. Perhaps.
This front panel design and naming... ...is there an upper age limit of 9 years for buying this modul?
Their graphic design department appear to be somewhat lacking in consistency and a sense of visual aesthetics. Not a good thing.
@@sidefish8362 oh yeah... Oscillator sounds really nice, just looks horrid.
@@sidefish8362 Maybe it's not a bad thing that the graphics are bad.
It seems like most of the budget went into the sound / circuitry. I got my Big-O a week ago and damn does this oscillator sound good! Especially the PWM. That's so damn fat. It kind of doesn't really come across in the video.
@@gamma_noize Good design needn't cost anything at all. Bad design shows a lack of consideration went into the product.
Screen-print and name your modules whatever you like. Still boring.
I'd say it isn't really the innovation in these module, but the price point. You'd have to pay the price of these module for one of their subsections alone. E.g. the cheapest wavefolder, i found in a hurry, was 139€.
I got a Big-O a week ago and at least for the Big-O i can say, you get much functionality at a damn good quality for a really reasonable price.
