  • In this video, I demonstrate how to fix an axle that has popped out of the inner CV joint. This can sometimes happen when you are disassembling the suspension. This technique can save you from having to replace a perfectly good axle.

    What I learned from this was raising the other side to make the axle you are working come into alignment. It is elementary, but it missed my mind. Thanks.

    This was the first result that popped up when I was in a jam today. I ended up undoing the clip, and assisting the rollers back in. Now that I see how they work, I could totally use your method. Just glad I didn’t need to spend $$$ on a new axle

    Sweet! Thank you much! 👨‍🌾
    I replaced the junky, worn, passenger side strut on my Corolla. Putting things back together, I could not get the steering knuckle and the axle back in place! The axle was about 2 inches too long.
    I fiddled with it for a few minutes. Then I accepted - I have no clue what I am doing here.
    Thanks to this video, I went back to the car and got the axle in place within literally 30 seconds! 😀
    Then I just put all the parts back together and cleaned up. It's 11 pm now. 🌳🦉🌖🌳

    I had replace my driver side cv axle on a 05 Acura TL. It seems to keep slipping off. I reinstalled a few weeks ago and tested it. I did some figure 8s and went on the highway. This a.m. after a cold freeze, the engine started up and the axle sounds like it slid out again with the wheels straight ahead. Luckily I didn't go any where so zo can get a floor jack to lift, but its also 12 degrees out.
    I got a few hundred miles out of it this time Is it the GSP CV axle too short, circlip? Should I try another brand or go back to genuine Acura parts. It has also slipped twice under Honda's watch. Frustrated and cold

  • @JacksonGuitarsPlayer03

    I had an annoying issue brand new CV axles. Right side one popped off the damn intermediate shaft. I got the axle nut tightened little over 300LBs luckily it only moved half way on the shaft not wanting to come completely off of it. You want that axle to be pushed all the way on and stay locked on. I ended up buying a new shaft and greasing it.
    Thought that end of the shaft was a little short but they only make 2 types of axles for the trucks I think. One I got you have to just slip it on but yeah requires basically taking your whole front end apart. The other kind I hear has bolts into the side of the differential. Gotta make sure both ends are secure and it wouldn’t move side to side causing possible issues.

    I'm asking because the other side of this particular axle has a transfer case. Do you think that lifting The opposite side from the side I'm working on will actually helping aligning the axles that they pop in??

    This only works if you’re lucky. The end that pops out has 3 bearings each mounted on a square washer that’s slides freely and it is that that pops out. If the square washer slips out of its groove no amount of manipulation will get it back in. It’s a case of remove the driveshaft and reset the three washers with their bearings.

    Im leaking transmission fluid where CV Joint goes in Transmission after changing my CV JOint today, passenger side FWD 2014 Fusion SE. Did I ruin the seal? @mg8718 Před 3 měsíci

      @@mg8718 It's still pretty slow drip, but its constant even when parked. Going to finish changing out the drivers side control arm, then pull the passenger side apart again. I hope the non-Ford brand CV Joint I put in didn't ruin the seal somehow. I was so careful putting it in. At this point I just hope I did ruin it myself. Do I need to change the bushing at the same time? Or can I get away just changing the seal?

    • @mg8718
      @mg8718 Před 3 měsíci

      Im not sure if theres any bushing. You can research it more on you tube maybe. Also, its possible you didnt get the cv axle fully seated. That will also cause a leak. I dont think you damaged the seal unless you were careless. Your gonna have to pull it all aprt and double check your work. Make sure that cv axle is in all the way. In most cases the aftermarket cv axle is just fine. @@LiterallyJesusChrist

    • @LiterallyJesusChrist
      @LiterallyJesusChrist Před 3 měsíci

      @@mg8718 there’s a bushing and a seal. I wondered if maybe I didn’t have the axle pushed in far enough. I’ll check that first. That rubber hose is in the way of the one bolt on the bearing strap, I didn’t know I could disconnect that, fighting with that made it hard to see how the bearing was lining up with the strap. I’ll disconnect it this time. Fighting all the rust from our road salt has been a nightmare. Had to cut several bolts off and buy new ones just to get things apart. It started as a lower control arm job and I ended up changing out CV and tie rod ends too while I had it apart. The drivers side lower control arm is a nightmare with rusted bolts! Been working on it two days already, have one more to go probably. No lift is a hindrance too!
