Thank you everyone SO much for your support!! We have read every comment so far. It is much appreciated. There will be a stream on peacock specifically for hammer starting tomorrow (Friday 6/28) at 7:30pm EST. Tyler is in the 2nd flight! So if you don’t see him when it starts that’s just because he’s in the 2nd flight.

I was born in Corvallis, Oregon,(in the heart of the Willamette Valley) which is 40 miles North of Eugene.(Home of the "Oregon State University") I grew up in Corvallis, except for a couple of years when my folks moved over to Bend, where I attended first grade. Currently as a retired 72 year old senior, I live about 10 miles West of Corvallis,on an acre and enjoy having the Mary's river flowing down the hill behind my property. Like You, I always have something to keep me busy. I enjoy using my older Kubota tractor, mini excavator, saw mill, wood shop, auto repair shop and newly acquired milling machine and metal lathe.
You couldn't pay me enough to ever relocate to the Eastern part of the United States. Our weather and the difference in population, between here and the East, make it very easy to make that decision. I'm less than 50 miles to the Pacific Ocean and about 75 miles to the mountains.

I grew up on Albany, between I-5 and 99E, just north of #34; seed farm. I have about 10 years on you... I went to many BB games in Gill and Parker field (name long gone). I went to college at Univ of OR. We often went to Redmond/Madras area to buy alfalfa hay. I knew the Mary's River from the days at Avery Park. I had relatives in Philomath, headed out the Alsea Road. We tried to go to Mary's Peak for the Shriner event each year.
We rarely went to the coast - dairy cows. They were afternoon trips to Newport and Depot Bay. We rarely went to the mountains; sometimes to Silver Creek Falls (not named this any more). In 1964 moved East for college and never returned. I realize I did not appreciate the beauty and variation of terrain, trees, etc. that Western Oregon provides. At one time, I yearned to return (still owned 80 A until recently). But, the dismal political affairs of the state drove me away. I still keep up with Corvallis Gazette, Albany Democrat Herald, and am ashamed at the moral decay of the Valley (Portland to Eugene). I still have relatives in the area, but never return any longer. Kate Brown ruined the state; Ted Wheeler as well. Medicinal marijuana exacerbated the downward spiral; the path followed.

It is a big deal having someone in the family that competes at that level. My step-brother played OL in the NFL for a number of years. I lived vicariously through him and was VERY proud. I am also very proud of my baby. He'll be 32 this year, obtained his BA in ceramics, got married, and works as a machinist. You've got some great kids and I thank you for allowing us to be as proud of them as y'all are. I've said before I'm jealous of Mike because my son is a great kid but I never got to be a girl dad, lol. Cheer that young man on and I'll be cheering from Tennessee.

Hammer throw entered the Olympics in 1900. The exact origins of the hammer throw are a mystery to modern historians.[citation needed] According to legend, at the Tailteann Games in Tara, Ireland, as far back as 2000 BC the Celtic warrior Culchulainn took a chariot axle with a wheel still attached and spun it around and hurled it.[2] The wheel was later replaced by a rock with a wooden handle attached.[2] A sledgehammer began to be used for the sport in Scotland and England during the Middle Ages.[2] In current times, the hammer has changed to the more modern 7.26 kg ball attached to a wire and a handle, but the Scottish Highland Games still feature the older style of hammer throw with the rock and the solid wood handle. Today the Hammer throw is one of four throwing events featured in the Olympics alongside discus, shot put, and javelin. How cool is that, that your son-in-law may get to go to the Olympics!! Congratulations!!!!!

You guys have a wonderful family and extended family.
Nothing like getting a return on investing in your children .
And those grand babies are so precious.
My wife and I used to watch your channel together all the time and she got into it as much as I did.
We immediately recognized your Pittsburgh accent and had to watch several videos before we realized you were from Western Pennsylvania.
Thats where we grew up, Beaver county to be exact.
We met in high school in ninth grade and have been together ever since with 11 grand kids and two on the way.
We have five Daughters, three we adopted then last year adopted two more kids.
We moved to Ga in 1999 for work opportunities but our hearts have always loved Penn’s woods.
Cherish every moment guys because life can throw really tough curve balls at us.
I’ve been alone for three months now since cancer took my Wife from me.
She had a 16 month long fight after diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.
I put my entire life on hold to take care of her, two young adopted kids , the household and what little work I had time to do as a self employed mechanic.
Its gonna be tough this July because her birthday is coming up then our anniversary two weeks later.
My youngest biological Daughter is expecting her first baby and shes sad her mom wont be here for her.
Her older sister is expecting her 3’rd child on my wifes birthday and thats going to be hard.
Shes naming her baby Joanna after my Wife.
As bad as it sucks I have to say I have no regrets as I was one in a billion men who had been blessed with a marriage that most men could only dream of in todays day and age.
She was a farm girl and had a rough childhood, and so did I.
We rescued eachother and it was like magic when we first caught each others gaze in the ninth grade hallway.
Not a day went by we didnt love eachother more than the last.
We had many conversations in the months leading up to her passing and it was clear she loved me more than life itself.
She even had a woman picked out for me that she wanted me to marry.
I didn’t want to hear that at the time but my wife knew me better then I knew myself because after being with someone for so long and then losing it all you really miss having a companion, but it turns out that woman had already found someone and I am in no hurry to find love again and at my age, I realize finding a good one is very rare unless she has gone through the same thing I have.
We started watching your channel a couple years ago when I was looking for a tractor and we both thought how cute it was that your wife is always right there with you doing all the hard work with that big big smile on her face and now when I see you guys and these videos, I just want to tell you to cherish every moment with each other and to never take each other for granted.
Take some time for yourselves and those Grand babies.
Cherish each-other and hug each-other extra special tight each and every night.

Yes Bend Oregon is great. Look into the Yakima canyon between Ellensberg and Yakima. Great Drive.

Welcome to Oregon! I certainly hope you can get out some and see the country side. I live the community of Coos Bay. On the coast. Here in Oregon we have bit of everything as far as landscapes. Coast, forests, mountains and desert. Worth checking out. Good luck in the trials Tyler.

While discus throw and shot put were part of the inaugural Games in 1896, hammer throw and javelin throw were added to the quadrennial event in 1900 and 1908, respectively.

Back in 1968, I tried hard to settle in Bend Oregon. I just thought of all of this country that I have seen, Bend was where I wanted to settle. I managed to stay for about four months, but I couldn't get all the parts of settling down to work.
I ended up not long after that, settling in New Hampshire.

I am watching this video at the Royal Gorge bridge. This morning we took the train through the Gorge. I highly recommend doing the train ride next time you are in Colorado. Mount Bly Sky highway tomorrow (Mount Evans)

One of my High School alumni, Al Oerter, competed in four consecutive Olympic games in the Discus throw. He was always the underdog, however, Al always brought home the Gold. I wish Tyler the best of success!
