@@brodi7748 Pubstomping in mtg is when someone uses a deck that is too strong for their playgroup because they enjoy winning more than a fair game. Usually against people they've never played with before. Think of it like a giant showing up to stomp all over a bunch of ants.
Its a cool card mechanically, but god damn did they nail the flavor on this one. Giving your opponent the Monarch and then needing to waiting a turn for Jared to "grow up" to be able to take it, what a simple yet wonderful way to capture his story.
I feel like it makes sense for the card to be Naya, but I feel like Jared as a character would be more on the side of mardu or even jund

@@karlsmink But then you can't get Monarch by combat, you'll have to wait till you get an etb on a non-creature monarch type card
The true power of Court of Ire is that you can target jared with it, thus giving him seven +1/+1 counters.

Your preview videos are the only ones I actually watch (as opposed to just skipping to the card). The effort and originality you put into them are their own reward; the card can wait.

Court of Ire trigger the 7 damage, target your own Jared while being the Monarch if there's a player with no blockers and all of a sudden you're swinging in for 10 cmdr damage.
Storms Wrath is a good one too, boardwipe anything with toughness of 4 or lower and pump your Jared with +4/+4.

"sudden" is a bit of a stretch since you need to have court and jared in play since your previous turn AND steal the crown with some other effect. :)
this is the issue i have with those cards - they are very very veeeeeery slow. i would expect more immediate effects from red part of color pie. the same issue plagued naya commanders from previous commander precons.
star of extinction, gideons sacrifice, deafening clarion...any fight spell etc. its kinda similar to stormwild capridor, except for the monarch stuff going on
and it say "damage" and not "noncombat damage"
@@m1gr3nA Yeah agreed my use of sudden was a stretch but, I was more just seeing it as a 3/3 suddenly turning into a 10/10, is he going to use the 7 on a creature to get rid of or will he pump his commander? It ends up being a cool sudden twist, that's what I ment.

Dude, Naya is my favorite color combination and monarch is definitely one of best multiplayer mechanic. I'm thrilled to build around this dude

Professor I just wanna say you and your team have really stepped up your video quality game.
They've always been good, but as a (former) professional video editor myself I really appreciate the small details. Good use of movement, smooth transitions, all that jazz. Excellent scripts and narration that flow seamlessly and track well with memorable bite-size moments that all come together.
Just nice job, that's all.
Me: "Hey check out my badass new commander, he stole a black lotus to summon a shivan dragon..."
My playgroup: "Yeah, we don't care, also counterspell your commander"
And then you respond with Autumn's Veil or Veil of Summer.
You got to adapt to your playgroups.
I can see this guy being allowed to resolve, but just killed after entering play.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC Fortunately there are plenty of ways in green and white to grant your creatures hexproof, regenerate them, or just outright make them indestructible. As I said, adapt to your playgroup.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC in my tables this guy gets ignored at all while someone else just combo outs or chain of vapor it with 72 counters on it
@@Krishnath.Dragon and then you see your opponent tapping seven mana to cast two cmc spell...
pyroblast and reb will protect you from more devastating effects than spot removal. in green you can afford to recast your commander multiple times so spot removal is not that problematic. having veil or asceticism still seems like good idea though.

I think you need to use black lotus to cast a shivan dragon, assemble three moxen and end the game without either player having their commander in play

I was just abt to look the character up and then the lore segment started. Really glad you included lore in this!
I like the idea of including a lot of "fight target creature" cards like Ancient Animus or Ulvenwald Tracker. It works great as creature removal and getting Jared bigger with more counters as well.
And then you make the alter either Kratos or Kevin Sorbo as Hercules.

Also feeling a bit called out as a Vorthos who makes his Commander decks around that lore that no one knows.
I feel that; I have several flavour decks built around stories that nobody else in my playgroup has ever heard. They are, however, called out as "needing work".

If I didn't already have a monarch deck in the form of Queen Marchesa, I would definitely want to build this deck! It's awesome that we've got so many more monarch cards now! I love the mechanic!
Prof can I recomend a video on "How to start Learning MTG lore in 15 min" ? or something? I really like the oldschool lore but I never know where to start I just go down the wiki rabbit wizard hole.
Maybe recommend books or good starting points divided in eras? something like that?....Thanks!

A lot of the old books and lore sources are gone now, from what I hear.
I recommend the podcast “the vorthos cast” they focus on well the lore of mtg

So far, I’m liking a lot of what I’m seeing for Commander Legends. I’ve already thought of two decks I can make with the new commanders and am brewing combos and support bases for them so I can put these decks together after the set comes out.
I built jared around outlast and fight mechanics and i love the way it runs so much fun
I love it! It looks like so much fun to play. I think a Naya Charm from shards would be a nice little addition too! For that final push or another means of gaining the monarch etc.

there is a new card from the set that also grants monach on etb. it's a 8/8 for 5GG that says "when Dawnglade Regent enters the battlefield, you become the monarch. As long as you are the monarch, permanents you control have hexproof"
My first thought was to spike it up and play hatebears and general blue screw; however, the true beauty of Naya is embracing your Timmy (jimmy :^) and slapping people. I look forward to making this!

Echo Circlet/Brave the Sands/High Ground could both be fun includes here. You can make Jared a better blocker and get more counters on him.
fight effects also seem to work really well in here. seems like a fun deck to build.
