  • Anthony Bruneni and Tim Mahoney are back with episode 2 of the DIY 'Till I Die budget build! On this episode, they are tuning the LB7 Duramax with just some basic tunes while they await parts to arrive for the rest of the build. They discuss why trucks that are now over 20 years old could have issues with flashing the ECM, what to expect when adding even just 100 horsepower in the meantime, and what adding that much power can do to a truck that may have failing parts on it....
    Will they stay under budget? Will it break? Will it be the sleeper beast they want? Follow along with our DIY 'Till I Die Budget Build!

    Man, that misplaced powerstroke guy's post that listed LB7 power at 225 horse power 20 years ago just won't die.

    As an owner of my 2002 GMC -LB-7 for over 20 years now I’m curious to see how & what you change/ do with your project vehicle. I’m still using the almost 20 year old Banks 6-gun tuner on mine with Optional Speed loader , Banks Big head waste gate set to 30 psi , a full down pipe back stainless steel 4” exhaust , an Airdog 4G-100 gph lift pump & S&B intake with oiled filter , along with 3-1/2” intake horn on original stock turbo !! Yes I’ve had to do injectors & 2 water pumps & just recently a new 135 amp alternator to replace original 105 amp unit , but other than basic maintenance and lots of filter & fluid changes and a full set of coolant hoses has been remarkably reliable so far . And I don’t have to worry about any Emmision related crap either . These are great trucks when driven sensible & not “ Like you just stole it “ 😉😆. Anyway thanks for posting. 😎👍

    Hi , from Cali. Waiting on the modifications or upgrades you guys do the truck. Quick question what is different between EFI tunes your guys ? Is it the same.

      EFI is the software/hardware. Our tuning is made using the software and loaded using the hardware. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

    Have people seripusly left their lift pumps running when flashing ? My rules when flashing anything is to pull the fuses for anything not critical and connect a battery charhe on 10 amps to make SURE i dont lose power i know things can still happen but i feel like between taking those steps and not touching ANYTHING after you hit write until its complete is the safest way

    Excellent info! Question for ya. I'm on the cusp of pulling the trigger on your guys EFI live tune for my 2001 LB7 Duramax. She's a solid runner with a bunch of mods ( stock trans...eeeeek). However, I don't have EFI Live right now which means I don't have the unit to store any data to send to you. I would be purchasing the Spade unit and tunes from you at the same time. How does that work from your perspective? Is it ok to gather as much info from me as you can and create a tune based on that or would it be better to make this a multi step process and get the spade unit, capture the data, send it to you then get the custom tune built around that? Thank you for the LB7 content!

      If you are going big HP and a build, road tuning/dyno tuning would be necessary. If you are just looking at driveability and adding some more HP, us working with you on what you want works just as good👌

      @Duramaxtuner perfect thank you! Yeah I just want to dial in the 45% SAC nozzle injectors, ported heads, turbo, exhaust manifolds, uppipes, downpipe, CAI, turbo horn and such for drivabilty. I'm in a podunk landlocked part of Alaska so snail mail and emailed files works best 😬 thanks again!

    So do you setup tunes for customers elevation or just a general elevation? Just curious cause I live at 6000ft and travel up

    • @Duramaxtuner
      @Duramaxtuner  Před 9 měsíci
