- In this video I repaired my Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer. It had the F1 error which means it couldn't talk to some part of the dryer. I found a blown solder joint and repaired the circuit board. I also rant about right to repair at the end of the video. Appliance repair is not my specialty.

Thank you! My repair worked! It was burnt in the exact same spot as yours. I was glad to see that you and someone else responded that your repair has held up for at least a year. I want to mention that my board had one extra connector in the corner that I don't see on all the videos for this washer. It is a plastic connector with a blue wire and a red wire and it attaches to a little Orange box in the corner, I think it might be because I have a steam dryer. Mine is also gas. I don't know what model you have. I think the extra connection is for one of those things. It was very very hard to pull that connection off. I had to get needlenose pliers up under it and really give it some pressure and some leverage to get it off. I don't know if someone was stronger hands than me could have just pulled it off with muscle. Thanks again!! You should video all your repairs of the washer and dryer!
Had the exact same error, popped it open, did the solder and it worked! Thanks for the easy to follow video!
Yo, Dude! You did just great! I had an identical problem and followed your lead. Finished a load of blue jeans and so far so good! Didn't remember hearing the "flux" word, but the solder held. Looked alot like my first one 50 years ago but hey, nobody see's it but me! Thanks for your post!
Sorry for the half baked video I didn't know if I was going to be able to fix it. I didn't record taking it apart. After finishing the repair I found out that this is a common problem for this board and that sometimes what I did will work but sometimes it will just be a temporary fix. If it goes out again the relay is normally cause and should be replaced according to what I found out. Its my dryer so I will report back if I have problem in the future but its been good for 3 days now. Hope this video helps someone out.
I totally agree with you. Appliance repair guys have schematics, mobile phone repair guys have leaked schematics....(Apple)....and very detailed schematics they are, and us automotive component repair guys have nothing but wiring diagrams and pinouts at the most. And to top it off, not only do we not have schematics, a lot of the board level components are proprietary and can be difficult to look up.
The most annoying thing is when you find components like MCU in the 03-07 classic clusters are just given a seemingly random part number. Its just a XC161CJ
Thanks man- repair worked, exactly like your video. Saved me $500. You’re a good human
Had the same issue and came across your video..found the control board..exact same thing..thank you for the help 👌🏼
Glad it helped
Did the repair work? Or did it fail again? About to try it.
Thank you so much. You just saved us $200
mine is the cabrio platinum, but I had the same exact issue. thanks for the video it fixed my issue. time will tell if it will last or fail again, but it saved me in a pinch for now. I was prepared to buy a new dryer, but after taking a few things apart, I found the schematic, and was able to get into a diagnostic mode which gave me the F1 error. the Schematic says F1 is the control board. so after narrowing down that worst case.... a new board, I decided to turn to youtube. lol thanks again!
I'm glad it helped. Mine still hasn't given me any problems since I uploaded the video but let me know if yours fails again. You should replace the relay if it fails again just search the part number on the relay with mouser or digikey and you should be able to find a new one.
Did it stay fixed?
@@cindyb8766 mine was still working in February of this year. Unfortunately, my matching washer started to have multiple issues, so I replaced the washer and Dryer. This is definitely a worthwhile repair.
@@davefree11 thanks. My repair worked tonight! Just wanted to check because I had one connector that was ridiculously hard to get off. Now I'll close it up!! Mine was the exact same failure spot as the video.
Thankyou!!! I had the exact same issue! Fixed it right up!
Wow, my daughter had the same issue. Cleaned it up with a brush and soldered the terminal to the trace and it works good. Hopefully ours will do like the one post and last over a year.
Thank you so so so much you saved me hundreds in a very tough time THANK YOU THANK YOU😊 same exact problem love and likes form Alabama
Great video. Keep up the good work.
Hi there - there is a black and red wire with a boot on each, do these just pull out of the block they are fed in to?
Thank you!! I had the same issue and I was able to fix it with the help of this video! :)
Glad it helped! I just had to replace the tensioner on it a few weeks agos. I was going make a video on it but my wife was in a rush for me to get it working haha.
Did the repair last? I'm about to try it!!
Just suggest to your wife to leave you alone or else she is most welcome to do it herself. 🤣 Who is the boss anyway?
Ours has that message,, but I feel the heat come on for a couple of seconds,, did you all have this happen?
Wow! That actually worked thx
Thanks. It does seem to be a common issue.
What dod you put on it before you soldered it?
Flux
Thank you for the video! I was tired of hang drying my clothes lmao
Is it still working? I"m about to install my new one, but I'll give the old one a look first. NO returns once I install the new one!!
Still working. I might have to work on the washer again soon but it's a bearing making noise this time
Awesome! Mine is gas and I think they can last a long time. The repair did work, I just tried it but wanted to see if it had held up before I closed it up because I had one connection ( that not all of them seem to have) that was crazy hard to get off and I was afraid of ruining the wires.
