@@LeonA0 It's never outright stated that Ifrit made the starscourge. Only that it might have emerged somewhere during the War of the Astrals.
And even if Ifrit was killed, Ardyn had become the source of the starscourge infection, wich is why he had to be completely erased, to prevent him from coming back and continuing to spread it.

    • @LeonA0
      @LeonA0 Před 5 lety +50

@@kevi1813 i think its safe to assume the gods created both the cure and the plague. because if the reason is man. then there is nothing to stop it from apearing again, it began witouth ardyn, he was just the one that kept absorving it and then became the biggest spreader, but not the only one as we know oracles thru generations have been curing the scourge on people and he was asleep this hole time, as such killing him would not save them, in fact it would doom them all eventualy as there is no more oracle and ardyn still had the ability to absorve if he so wished it, now there is no one to stop the scourge, unless it was all a elaborated system that will end when the gods wish it so. such a system would create a worship of the gods for "saving" them.
as for its origins " the German localization, Ardyn Izunia says Starscourge originated from the Meteor of the Six,[1] but it is not stated outright in other versions." its not a perfect canon, but it canot be dissmissed aswell. and we know from the lore that the meteor was sent by ifrit and caught by titan.
Now you might ask why would the gods go thru this hole complicated plan that lasted ages. well..
"The True King is said to be even more powerful than the gods" ... this here would be reason enought for them to want to end him, so make someone that would be able to end the true king. Ardyn Izunia.
They are not the true gods, the Crystal is, and the Crystal has a will of its own.
Of Course this is just a Theory, but if they made this plot into like a final chapter oh boy the game would had have a pretty sweet ending and plot twist.

Bahamut: To spread Darkness throughout the world is thy TRUE calling
    Ardyn: DARKNESS?
Bahamut Soon the true King will be born unto Lucis, He Shall lead the people as their BEACON OF HOPE and drive away the DARKNESS, in turn thou shalt be his SACRIFICE - THE LIMITLESS SHADOW THAT USHERS IN THE LIGHT
Ardyn: Why must I continue to suffer? Have I not Already Sacrificed enough!?
Bahamut: When the true king awakens summoning the power of his forebears, he shall at last relieve thee of thy suffering. Then the line of Lucis shall come to an END and the revenge thou seekest shall finally be found. SO IT IS ORDAINED SO SHALL IT BE.
Ardyn : You say I am not the SAVIOR of man but his SACRIFICIAL Lamb, and that I live only to die by the hand of the heir to an ILL-GOTTEN throne? That is the FATE the gods have CHOSEN to BESTOW upon me!!!???
Bahamut: The very same, defy thy destiny if thou dare, but know that it would grant thee a life of darkness unending, devoid of deaths reprieve.
    Bahamut: What Say Thee Adagium?
Note the highlighted words, this was intentional to make the point. What Bahamut is saying is that Ardyns purpose is the be the bad guy that destroys the world and Noctis is the good guy that stops him. There needs to be an ultimate evil that an ultimate good defeats and that Ardyn and Noctis have been chosen for these roles (There needs to be a boss and a protagonist that beats him) it's all just a game to the gods its a story that needs to be told. The power of kings will empower Noctis and this will enable him to defeat Ardyn but in turn that very power kill Noctis.
Read all that and this is what it sounds like....They are both pawns to be sacrificed, Actors playing their roles, Puppets on strings. the point here is Noctis being the chosen king isn't a good thing, it's a curse that is maybe just as bad as the one given to Ardyn. In the eyes of the gods they decide all and determine all and in the Case of Noctis and Ardyn they have decided That Noctis will be the Good guy And Ardyn the bad both pawns to be used and sacrificed. In Short that gods do not care about the people they are only their playthings

@@PedroMartinez-lk6rn From the perspective of a gamer then yes I suppose its arguable that's the case for all games. We are all monsters who like killing enemies and finding out how a story unfolds but imagine yourself in the actual universe of a game. Your the 'Chosen' one and your told by your Leader,Prophet,God that your meant to stop a great evil from destroying your people, pretty standard as far as game plots go but nonetheless and at the end of it you fulfill that duty and as far as you the 'Chosen one are concerned you succeeded, you fulfilled your destiny and saved your people but from behind scenes there was a force behind the great evil that you stopped and your completely unaware of it's existence but somehow you find out, whatever the circumstances were you somehow found out that there was something else going on. You investigate and discover the terrible truth. The Leader,Prophet,God that sent you to destroy the evil is really who caused it. You would be dumbfounded, you would feel like you got played for a fool and the realization that they were tho ones truly responsible for all the destruction caused by the so called 'Evil'. If there was any shred of truth that you were the Chosen one destined to destroy Evil then I think the answers pretty obvious...you need to kill the Mastermind and in this case Bahamut (and possibly the other gods)

@@cloudsopowera6248 Caius Ballad actually achieved his goal too, and defeated the protagonist Lightning in their first face off. He is also a tragic character if not more than Ardyn. Really and truly the "best" will always be subjective.
I will say Ardyn may be one of the best villains in the series....Caius as well, Cid and Vayne from FF12 were also quite complex (12 in particular has a few similarities well with FF15). Old school FF villains tend to come off more generically evil. A few of them represented concepts like darkness and the void- so their natures were only destruction and nothingness.

    What I believe happened:
Ifrit went nutters when Solheim rebelled against him and the other gods, the battle ended up destroying most of humanity and left their trust and faith in the gods shambled.
To regain the trust of humanity, Bahamut ripped a piece from the Crystal and used it to create the Starscourge.
Then after letting the remnants of humanity suffer for a few years, he appears and grants the Lucis bloodline powers as his chosen to combat the “alien” Starscourge.
One he gives powers similar to his own, while the other he geves the power to absorb the Scourge, later using him as the “evil antagonist” with dark powers to oppose his champion of Light, who would be nothing without the “blessing and power of the Gods.”
All of this, just a 2000 year long publicity stunt to increase the mortals faith in the gods who “protect” them.

That's why i can't really see Bahamut as the "villain". What i get from his matter-of-fact(albeit a bit condecending) speech, is that: This is what's gonna happen, and there's nothing you can do to change it. Ardyn’s story is really profound and enjoyable. If only the current developers knew how to tell a story and keep things a coherent whole. Ffxv may easily be the masterpiece that almost was. The biggest issue I have with the game is how they broke up the vital aspects of the story into DLCs. Plot points and character origin/ development is something that should be delivered standard in a final fantasy game. Could you imagine if in seven you had to buy a separate disc for each character’s arc? One for Barret and Dyne, one for Yuffie and Wutai, one for Vincent and Lucretcia, or Red XIII in Cosmo Canyon. Or even ( in the truest spirit of FFXV’s hoarding of vital plot points) the flashbacks of cloud and Sephiroth in Nibleheim? No. Because without all that it wouldn’t be close to the coherent complete game we were given. The same goes for all the other FFgames. All the games since four took the time to flesh out their story and characters before release.
I would say that final fantasy 8 was a mechanical mess of a final fantasy game, where as 15 was a narrative failure.

there was a time when Bahamut was the ultimate ally of the heroes, the creature that would test them to see if they where strong enough to defeat the villain; look at him now: a villain like many other, playing with other people like they were pieces on a chessboard.
" You either die as an hero or you live long enough to become the villain."
