Gs300 2JZ vvti timing belt Replacement and Tips

- I only replaced the cam and crank seal with the belt.
Doing in the video the way shown works just follow the steps
or
you can also just line up the cam gears with the dash mark, not the DoT and the crank sprocket keyways with the TDC mark on the oil pump housing. Throw the belt on and ignore where it's at just that the marks in the sprockets are lined up. Call it good.
I've done it both ways it works.
on your vvti gear aren't you suppose to use the line not the circle ? im watching alot of videos of both ways lol
I explained it both ways. The 30% mark on crank would have to be turned to TDC of if not
Hey bro my 1999 gs 300 .. the mechanic said my safety switch in the transmission is gone so it’s popping a lot of my fuses when I try to start to car …. He bypassed it to start by me starting it in N but that only work for a day . I don’t know what he means bout the safety switch tho
There is a way to bypass the safety switch. People do it all the time to swap in a manual transmission. Idk bout it popping fuses that sounds like a bigger issue with electrical. We can start with what fuses are popping because this could be as easy as a brake pedal switch or a bad taillight that burnt its connection up.
On my crank pulley I have 2 marks which one do I line up to 0?

If you put a breaker bar on the ground to the right standing in front of the car and start the car it will break the 22mm crank bolt loose. Super easy. Saying that... I think I messed up my timing on my car a couple years ago and have been driving it like that for like two years. FAWK! Umm I have no idea really. It seems as tho everyone says something different how to do this timing bullshit. O well. But the breaker bar thing is the move for the bolt.
Fuck killing yourself ripping on that shit to break it loose.

In most cases yes the start bump trick works but not always with the 2jzge and k series/J series. They are on thier pretty good. You risk it flying off or hitting other stuff but you get that. They make a special tool that works great at looking the crank. I do have one now and it's cheap works prefect.
I may make another video explaining it more like in my description. I have a 2nd engine on a stand so that might be visual helpful. I appreciate your comment.
