This is prolly the most overlooked leak on the 2j mfs do a timing belt and always regret not replacing this little O-Ring. Idk why they wouldn’t the rebuild is so easy

Facts the old owner of the 1998 GS300 I bought had it brought to a shop for oil leak they waited a valve cover gasket did the plugs an broke a bunch of shit doing so they also did a timing belt he got it back still pouring oil an sold it to me without telling me… I got it for a steal so I didn’t care and I brought it to a shop they said valve cover gaskets so I did them and the plugs bc the last owner told me they never been done before after I did it I found out it’s been done same with plugs recently am done horribly breaking ignition coil connections hoses exc so 5 hours wasted I go back to the owner who owns a bodega by me he said he had work done didn’t know the names I told him showed him and said yea he had that replaced so I had a shop qoute me valve cover gasket again so I did it and it wasn’t the problem it’s the VVTI Gear now I have to go back in an replace that eventually and I got a 2800 mile road trip next week and it pours out 3 quarts in 1200 miles which is worrying me a bit for this trip but I already reserved everything so I gotta go… Pissed that I now have to take it all back apart to do timing belt and the gear when I could have done it before and I figured it was the VVTI ANOT THE VALVE COVER BC OF WHERE IT was leaking… Oh well I’ll diagnose it myself from now on idc if I’m working 100 hours that week I refuse to trust any shops

How I see it is that I would rather replace the O-Ring then the gear because 1. Them gears are like $150 and 2. The gear been sitting in a warehouse w the O-Ring installed for 20 years, I’ll take a brand new o ring and my old gear in my opinion

Hey Cornelius! Quick question in regarding a clip you posted :
    czcams.com/video/0Kbnz8Myq3M/video.html
Did you feel any gains at all?
Did the car feel more responsive at throttle?
    Better acceleration?
    Would you recommend it??
    (Referring to the HPS intake)
