That’s how lot tv shows start, writers and producers kind of turnt it up on characters a bit. Sheldon from the Big Bang theory was gentle and shy in season one until he become an annoying character likable but annoying, Steve Mcgarret from the original Hawaii Five0 same thing he was moody and confrontational with his partner.
Douglas had 2 different cars when he met Carrie/when he first said "I love you!" to Carrie and when he first poked Carrie. And then the 3rd car he sold to Spence later ... which he said is the same car Doug made love into to some girl before he met Carrie.
