Leica Q2 Monochrom vs DJI Air 3 - The difference is in the details..

- Is the DJI Air3 with its 0.3mp higher resolution a Leica Q2 killer? The development in camera technology plateaued many ears ago. Today most cameras are good enough and gear doesn't matter much. But there are subtle differences that can separate two otherwise similar cameras. In this video we compare two random cameras with 5 reasons making the case for each.
Please note that some of the wide angle shots where made with a DJI Mini, that has the exact same sensor and lens as the Air. It was also used in a video sample since there where people close by. - Jak na to + styl
What are the most important characteristics and/or specs when you pick a camera?
IMO, even though the DJI has a 0.3mp higher resolution, there are other subtle differences that could make a case for the Leica. I often get comments from people that are upset when I compare cameras with different specs or from different generations. But in my mind, no camera is objectively better than another, and no spec is objectively more important than another. Its all user dependent.
That I enjoy using a camera far outweighs everything else for me. After that it's not so much he price, but the value. I have no issues with higher priced cameras, if I feel that I get something for it. There are some extremely popular cameras that you haven't seen reviewed on this channel. And thats often why.
"What are the most important characteristics and/or specs when you pick a camera?"
For me, it's lenses, the sound it makes when using it, and how it feels in my hands, I'm using a Nikon D700, looking to get a used D3s or D7200 as my next, and I also have a OLD D70 as a "fool about and have fun" camera.
@@gholenthe sound is often overlooked. Love a good sounding camera 👍
100. In my experience, the M8 and M9 are the best sounding mirrorless cameras. That thunderous shutter click locks the moment to memory. ⚡️🔒
For myself, the design is most important. I tend to lean towards rangefinder style cameras, with the likes of the X-Pro2, X100F and Pen-F being amongst my favourites to shoot with, and the Nikon Df being the DSLR exception because of its dials.
One often overlooked aspect people usually only mention in passing is the software UI/UX. But after having used 10+ different cameras I've come to realize its very important for me to enjoy using a camera. For example I loved my Lumix GX9 from the hardware side, but some quirks of the software made me hate using it.
I can guarantee this is the only Q2 Monochrom vs DJI Drone video on the internet haha... nice video.
Chef’s kiss. But 12 videos?! NOOOO - please say this is some Nordic humor I’m too dim to grasp 🙏
Considering the hype I’ll suggest for the next video LUMIX S9 vs Samsung microwave
I haven’t noticed the Samsung microwave hype, is it a specific model?
S9 is dumb
12 more videos. Ok, can one be a final review of the PIXII? Then one on the future of cameras in your no nonsense style. and finally -if you want, one of what the future holds for you and the family. I hope fatherhood is going well. My boys are now adults and its just amazing to see them live their lives. Cheers and thank you!!!
Only 12 videos? That's bad, I've always loved watching them and discovered so many cool new cameras!
This is why I love your videos. I manage a popular camera retailer shop in Australia and consumers are still so infatuated by the latest and greatest and will heavily critique specs without considering past camera's that will still most certainly suit their needs. I put a lot of my customers on to your channel for this very reason!
That’s awesome 👍
I've actually seen someone ask whether it's more worth it to keep their drone or switch it for a Leica M3. People laughed at the lad but it makes total sense for a hobbyist who don't spend a lot of time on photography to want one fun toy over another that's completely different. People need to chill about specs and consider the true value of using cameras: joy.
If we just go on pretending that he didn’t say he only has 12 more videos do you think he’ll just keep creating? lol
But what if you tape the Leica to the DJI Air?
Could you compare a Logitech 4k webcam or better yet the built in camera to a MacBook Pro to an X-T5 or OM-1?
Easy win for the MacBook 👍📷😉
😂😂😂
😂 Unhinged
How's that 12 more videos? Why is life punishing us again?
he lost interest...
When I lived in a more crowded city I hadn't really considered a drone, but since moving more into the country last year I've been thinking one could be useful for achieving points of view over the landscape I really can't get to on foot. The Air 3 looks pretty great.
Yeah, if I lived in the city I probably wouldn’t get one. The Mini 4 Pro is a good choice as well. I like it more than the Air in every way except the two lenses.
Like you said, it's in the details. Both cameras can fly. But the Leica rarely sticks the landing...
Always enjoyed your perspective. 🫡
Mattias - do you still have the Pixi?
I would also be interested in hearing about your Pixii experience. I've followed the development of the camera and I hope they succeed as a company.
Some people just don't know how to chill
So true 👍
Mostly blue unhinged people
Can't compare them at all because one looks up and the other one looks down /s ;) both seem like amazing cameras to own
😂
The Mini 4 can point the camera upwards quite a bit 👍
Why 12 videos?
Only 12 more video’s noooooooooooo 😢😢😢😢
Interesting comparison! Some stunning shots from the dji, the unique perspectives are really cool. And kudos for calling out irresponsible drone owners, always a few idiots who ruin everything for everyone else, similar to "street shooters" who invade others personal space on the street.
Yeah the freedom to photograph in the street is definitely under threat from some that takes their liberty too far. I hate the CZcamsrs filming into stores and what not only to get questioned so they can claim "I'm just making a travel video" and then post it as a "Karen video". Same as*****s that bait cops for no good reason.
Man I miss your videos a lot! Thank you for posting now and then. Will you ever test weird gadgets? Like the frosting cup, or the useless box. I just love the style and editing. Greeting from Mexico
Maybe, I will keep it in mind.
@@mattiasburling yaaay!
How do you do the trichrome monochrome? I would like to see a video about that.. Thanks, always an inspiration.
Love that one. Thanks for the video
👍
Street photography with the Air 3 hit different
Mattias, thoroughly enjoyed & impressed by your honest, fun videos on 📷 gears-btw, your 📸 talent is outstanding regardless of the 📷 used. I agree with your constant mantra gear is irrelevant - it’s the one you’re most comfortable with. That said, we need wealthy morons who can afford to buy the latest (to support the manufacturers); then only to dump them on the cheap for the next new product. Thus, I was able to acquire some of my favorite equipment. You are awesome & inspirational. You shall be missed 😢. Best to you & your family❤. ✌🏼& 📸
I feel your views are becoming more absolute, which is no bad thing 🙂. My current system was picked on three criteria, lighter, simpler, smaller. Of course it had to deliver on a few other things as well and it does but I wasn't concerned by specification wars just those 3 guiding principles.
Damn, you’re quitting youtube? Why?
haha.. this is the strangest video I seen in awhile!
The Dji can fly!
Huge entertainment on this video!
Ha det. fint! 🇸🇪🐝👆
0:29 I miss the FanBoy Rage Breaks 😆
I think they have to make a comeback at some point 😀
Well done. You broke the spec-lords brains. But you also broke our brains by saying only 12 more videos. You are a chaos agent.
I don't recommend the DJI Air 3 at all. I tried to take photos of my food in a crowded restaurant in Paris and the photos were awful even with the extra 0.3MP.
Speaking of risk analysis 🤣
How does leica monochrome shoot colour pictures ?
Using the filters I show next to it and by processing the images together like I show in the video.
Monochrome Camera be cool.
The answer is easy.. Leica Q3 for the tilty screen ;)
I love the fact that you gave the "don't be a moron" advice. I heard the anecdote of some guy launching his quad-copter unto a group of pelicans that were resting just to startle them and get a flying shot of them... what a moron.
A moron and with our wildlife laws, a criminal.
Insane comparison. I love it.
I still can't decide! Which one should I get for taking photos of my cat? Help!
For a cat you definitely need both. Otherwise you won't be able to do it.
12 more videos….
You changed your channel name. Hard to find you.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed camera fanboyism on the decline?.🤔 I'm hopeful consumer drone use will not decline due to general idiocy. In any case, I would lean towards the Q2, although I love the images that are coming from drones.
I think it’s camera talk in general that’s declining. Unfortunately there is a risk that the fanboys will be the only ones left.
Gear doesnt matter, but it has subtle differences? :DDD im done silly lil bro.
Id take the leica Q2 Monochrome it suits my requirements and ive never really craved a drone its just simply not for me and the state I live in is so anal about such things
People need to relax, not every things need to be competitive. If how’s good your picture is depends on camera, you need learn more about photography.
😁
Well now, in fairness the Leica can fly too. It's just not so good at the landings....
Google's Gemini AI summarizes this video as follows:
"This video is about comparing two cameras, Leica Q2 Monochrom and DJI Air 3. The video aims to help viewers decide which camera is better based on their needs and preferences.
Here are some key points from the video:
- Leica Q2 Monochrom is a high-quality camera with a fixed prime lens. It is small and easy to carry, and it has a long battery life. It also takes very high-quality photos, especially in monochrome mode.
- DJI Air 3 is a drone with two fixed prime lenses. It can fly and take pictures from different angles. It is also very fun to fly around. However, its battery life is shorter than Leica Q2 Monochrom, and the image quality is not as good.
Overall, the Leica Q2 Monochrom is a better camera for taking high-quality photos, while the DJI Air 3 is a more versatile camera that can also fly. The best camera for you depends on your needs and preferences."
Like Mr. Spock having watched the video. 🙂
😂
I chuckled at the “more versatile camera that can also fly”. 😂
12 more videos to make? Please say that was just a joke!?!?
Q lens is good, but let's not forget it's heavily corrected, which means apples to apples against old uncorrected lenses, it's flawed optically and aided by software. Which is fine, but it is a small dent on the idea that it's somehow an optical masterpiece. It's effectively masterful, but it's a departure from the past and could never be this small and this good if it didn't have electrical engineering helping it.
The whole premise of this is anti “apples to apples”. So let’s just agree to disagree 😀👍📷
@@mattiasburling I agree it doesn’t matter but let’s not steal the glory of those who really achieved optical perfection by mislabeling the software aided work of those who got there with shortcuts (even if they work for the same company). I think we can hold both views at the same time.
Let’s not steal the glory from those who achieve the end results with an enjoyable process.
Such a troll :)
