    This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. czcams.com/users/postUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

    OneNote for Android does not have the "Ink to Text" feature. In addition, when handwriting, OneNote for Android does not save the additional information that allows converting to text later, regardless of if you open the page in another edition of OneNote. Essentially, there is NO real "handwriting" in OneNote for Android. It is just "drawing" that looks like letters.
    This is a major difference between OneNote for Android and OneNote for iPad. On the iPad it saves that extra information so the handwriting can be converted to text later.
    What a lot of people don't know, is that OneNote can only convert handwriting to text because it saves lots of extra information about the speed and direction of the pen tip as you write. This is why there are distinct modes for "Drawing" and "Handwriting" in the desktop editions of OneNote. In "Drawing" mode it doesn't bother to save that extra information.
    I almost bought an iPad, for this reason. But iDevices are just such a pain in the ass to use in every other way, that it wasn't worth it for just that one feature.

    • @GrantSR
      @GrantSR Před 3 lety +16

      @@luckynam8187 It depends on whether you can tolerate all the crap that comes with using an iPad. I'm being forced to use an iPhone for taking the census, and I hate it. I can't give you an overall evaluation. I haven't used either. According to reviews, iPad has better drawing apps. And it has that one extra feature in OneNote. That's all I know.

You can also use handwriting and text together if you wanted, and still use the image like a photo embedded in a text document: e.g., you can anchor text around a photo and write on the photo in the same note.

    I really want this! I have a question and I really need your help as you've had lots of experience with tablets, especially the two I'm considering.
    I'm not sure if I should go with the budget samsung tab s6 lite or just go all out with the samsung tab s7. I'm a university student and I'll probably be needing this tablet to last me for 3 years at the minimum. I'll mostly be using it just for note taking and social media intake (youtube, movies on netflix). How much better is the writing experience on the s7 than the s6 lite considering palm rejection, display, and responsiveness?
    I know apple makes amazing tablets but I'm trying to switch over to being all Android/Windows so I'm only really considering these two! What do you think?

      When writing, the difference with the improved latency on the Tab S7 is noticeable, but subtle. I recommend the Tab S6 over Tab S6 Lite because that’s more powerful, no lag, and can last longer. Tab S6 is good if you can find it at a good price compared to Tab S7 if the price difference is big. Personally I don’t think it’s paying a lot more if it’s just for taking notes because the cheaper tablets are also very capable at taking notes.

    Do you use any screen protector? I installed one in my Tab S7 and now my handwriting in Samsung Notes is not as neat as it was before the installation. However, in INKredible app my handwriting is good. Why is that?

      Screen protector can sometimes affect the pen accuracy. Inkredible is still good because it applies software smoothing to the lines. There's no pressure sensitivity too but the app also applies thin and thick lines.

      IPadOS has better apps and more choice though Samsung has improved that difference of late and there are good apps now on Android for most things. The iPad will get 6-years of support compared to three for the Tab S7+. The iPad has better accessories, multiple keyboard and case choices.
      Currently the main selling point for the Tab S7+ is OLED and it is open source. The iPad will be updated with mini-LED later this year so OLED will no longer be a selling point. Open source access to torrents is not strictly legal but if that is something you do then the iPad will prevent direct access.
      The iPad is the better choice as Apple are supporting it 100% where as Google no longer supports Android tablets, now they are 100% behind ChromeOS and TBH I would buy a Chrome Tablet rather than the Tab S7+.
