@@dustyfox6511 im aware it was only a defamation case and no criminal charges are levied, but it's definitely a win to me in that it sets a precedent in public opinion to hopefully lesten the stigma around men being victims, and gives hope that any victim of abuse who is villainised by their abuser or anyone who has been falsely accused of such a thing is able to fight for their right to the truth. Although it would be better if such heinous false allegations were never made, six years later he was able to tell the truth about what happened on such a global stage and it definitely made an impact on the issue.

Highly disagreed with the DM on several factors:
    1) you didn't contribute hate towards any gender by streaming the court hearing, Court cases aren't copyrighted material which allows for it to be streamed without an authority (correct me if i'm wrong)
    2) It was Important to cover the case for the male survivors of abuse regardless of your personal stands. so the next time a guy comes forward he won't be ridiculed and told to "suck it up and man up" like Doctor Phil did on his show!. The lady who DMed you is definitely biased
    3) "Nobody would believe female survivors of the abuse" is a shallow gut reaction to this case... It wasn't about "men vs women", it was simply about a victim of abuse who happens to be male who dared to come forward against his abuser a female.
    4) "Whether you believe it all not, the amount of hate she got is insane", First of all, Not condoning the hate and harassment she received but she brought this onto herself, She attempted to destroy a man's career with most of her LIES, I'm not even a fan of Johnny Depp but that man was scrutinized for 7 years by media and everyone pro-Amber, The hate she's receiving now is undoubtedly karma biting her back. I rarely saw anyone on Twitter defending Johnny until the tapes were brought to public's eyes.
Loud people on Twitter like to argue that "we should ALWAYS support the victims", but when it's time to support a male survivor.... Their biased side shows up. I've seen many many videos of women destroying men's properties... Hell... *Jennifer Lawrence* publicly admitted to beating a guy in a bar, pouring alcohol into his suitcase and poked fun at him while he cried, on Seth Meyer's show, she got away clean with some chuckles and giggles from audience... Look up "Jennifer Lawrence Brawl fight" on CZcams.
Really quick, i wanna share 2 stories:
my neighbor (a late 40s early 50 something man) is married to and tolerated a woman who kept manipulating him for years. She even tried to strangle her own daughter once over a freaking argument with neighbor
My uncle has dated a woman for 4 years who promised to marry him but was actually dating him to milk every penny out of him, She manipulated my uncle and used HIS money to buy herself the most premium and luxury items to brag about until my uncle was in debt. Then she poor shamed him and ran away with some other dude!
All you did was supported the victim of a domestic abuse and provided commentary based on your knowledge on the source that was publicly available to audience but they chose to watch YOU because they like and trust you.

The trial was supposed to determine whether Heard committed defamation against Depp, specifically libel by implying (note: never outright stating Depp's name) in her op-ed that Depp abused her by writing along the lines that she had been abused.
That's it. It wasn't supposed to determine who was the aggressor of the abuse since that didn't matter as to whether what Heard wrote was indeed libel.
Just one provable instance of Depp abusing Heard would qualify her statement as being true under the lens of the US legal system; considering she never wrote in that piece that Depp had abused her countless times. Just that she had been abused herself.

Your coverage of this trial was fine. I think a subsection of the world at large is just going to be offended by the trial result and considering the nature of the case I think people will just be slightly over emotional with regards to it. If Amber Heard is innocent then she has one of the least believable true stories I've ever come across. None of her story lined up with any evidence and she seemed pathological about many things, compulsive lying to keep up with a twisted narrative being one to note. However, I don't think some of the coverage on the case has been great as there are a lot of zealous types covering this trial and a lot of toxic men bubbling on the surface b/c it is more acceptable to throw rotten food at this particular woman. That said, I don't think ludwig was a negative energy in the space, when it comes to this trial.

    • @tensemurm5924
      @tensemurm5924 Před rokem +7

Not really. The case was asking "is there enough evidence that he beat her", which it was proven there was (since most of the claims were declared proven).
The difference is that Amber Heard acted like an innocent victim in her article, when she clearly wasn't. That doesn't mean he didn't beat her, which is all The Sun claimed. He was violent. But her article was incredibly misleading and written in a way to make herself look like she did nothing wrong and was just an innocent victim of random violence, which was untrue.

As a 27 year old male victim of domestic violence I can say that the person sending you the dm has no idea how the world works. Any coverage that actually listens to the case and doesn't stan one side shows that it is okay to come forward, that the truth has a place and can be heard. I see no way that this could make victims more scared to come forward with their truth.

Short n sweet; justifying and substantiating your content; providing the audience with a nice summary of your thoughts on the trial; and, ontop of all that demonstrate to your audience that you are mindful of "their" criticism.
Rhetorically speaking this was brilliant Ludwig.
I've gotta see I am continually impressed by the content on Mogul Mail. It has a strong balance between your style of, forgive me if I misnomer this, storyboarded humor and some artful uses of rhetoric.
The touching part about the rhetoric you use, at least these days, Ludwig, is that I can not recall a time when you have employed this degree either maliciously or inadvertently.
Meanwhile, I've gotta say that it's just hilarious that the "hahaha funny man" has continually proven himself to be a genuine orator when so many politicians are terrible at it.

Regardless of who you side with between Amber and Johnny, this case made huge strides to removing the stigma of speaking out about domestic abuse for male victims. I think that's ultimately the best thing to come out of this trial.

  • @FractalParadox

The UK case is a whole other can of worms that most people don't get.
1- it wasn't against Amber, was against a newspaper.
    2 - the fact-finder was a single judge, not a jury.
3 - this judge routinely engaged on very shady mental gymnastics arguments in order to dismiss JD's evidence and at the same time, believed and defended Amber's testimony as irrefutable fact.
4 - one of those instances was, for example, when he discredited one of the witnesses for lying about the dogs Amber smuggled into Australia, using that as an argument to refuse her as a character witness against Amber... when the proof that she lied was a text message of Amber telling her and other people to lie. So, he discredits the person who lies, then believes the person who told them to lie. Ok.
5 - there were a whole bunch of other _out of the box_ arguments, I recommend looking onto it for your daily dose of rage.
In resume, the UK trial isn't at all comparable, no matter what Elaine says on TV. The fact that people even mention it when discussing this trials results is helping Amber and media continue trying to discredit the jury

No matter of what you think of Amber or Johnny it was crazy and scary how villified and harrassed amber was. Like people... this is an ungoing lawsuit of a "poterntially" innocent person. leave the justice to the people who do that profesionally but that this twitter mobjustice thing was legitimately scary and irresponsible.

Also Johnny and Amber both "abused" each other. This was 2 people who treated each other both terribly in a terrible relationship. People want to see this as a vindication of Johnny but like... that dude also did some scummy shit ngl but that doesnt detract from the stuff amber did but just because hes a victim doesnt make him a hero!

To be fair dude, every lawsuit is like this nowadays. No male perpetrator in the last decade has been given any sort of "benefit of the doubt". If you hear a SINGLE thing about them possibly committing abuse, it's over for them most of the time. I think that we should always wait for the evidence to be proven in court, but the court of public opinion isn't capable of being objective.

    I agree with your take.
I have a roommate who is obsessed with the trial memes, I’m talking Amber Turd and Johnny gangster level memes.
I’ve tried to listen to the whole trial, like you said, to form an opinion based on it and other creators with a likeminded attitude.
Eventually I came to the same agreements as the jury and have the context to explain to the people around me what was described and happened during the trial.
My roommate was being especially weird yesterday, so when she showed me the meme I told her I don’t care.
    She got upset.
She’s sensitive regardless to this, but I think the meme and stanning community has become incredibly toxic- which is the reason I left most fandoms.
That is also why I appreciate your unbiased takes and let me and your other views make our own opinions while shinning light to topics I wouldn’t have known about otherwise in addition to the healthy distance between an influencer and their audience.
Thank you for another great video, keep up the good work!

But since you did I was able to learn a lot throughout this case and there’s no better content than some where you can come out the other side with a pretty decent understanding of the subject. Who cares if you used it to farm a bit of content I think you added plenty of knowledge to the case and helped teach me a lot as well as helping others understand who were being impartial towards Johnny or Amber

  • @myrimu9829
    @myrimu9829 Před rokem

I am a bit more sympathetic to the DM you received than most of the comments here. I do think there's something inherently wrong in letting this be content... in a sense, it's contributing to letting the trial become a flashpoint for culture warriors who are eager to prove some broader point. I can't deny feeling a bit sick seeing you and others making content out of it. But that said, setting aside the decision to make content at all, I think you handled your presentation really well. I'm glad you resisted it when chatters or others would try to treat it as something more than an individual case. I really do appreciate that. I also really appreciate you making this video to bring up the topic and discuss your decision to make content. It just so happens that your stance on what is appropriate content and what's not just happens to be different from my own and so that's why you felt comfortable making content about it as long as you spoke about it appropriately, and that's your call to make. Certainly it's not a super egregious decision either way.

Thank you for making another good video about this! Personally, when the allegations first came out several years ago, and the me too movement was more intense, I automatically sided with Amber Heard without really doing any research. There were a lot of REALLY bad people’s actions being discovered at the time, and honestly I didn’t care enough about either of them to do research. But throughout the trial, it was insane to see how quickly all of the evidence pointed against her and a whole nation just wrote Johnny off because we couldn’t be bothered to care about what was really going on with the *actual* case. I think the lesson here is really don’t make assumptions about something so serious without any actual research/evidence. People definitely get caught up in movements too much to actually take a look at individuals as people, instead of statistics to prove a point with. I’m glad the majority of sane people are going to at least give Johnny another chance now, regardless of people making this whole thing weirder than it needs to be.

I completely agree with Lud when he said that the people who would say "this is another Johnny Depp situation" in retaliation to a woman claiming abuse, wouldn't believe the woman before the trial anyway. Very few if any people at all had their opinion changed on women claiming abuse due to the trial, but having such a large spotlight on a male abuse victim is something that hasn't really happened before and is a very positive thing. In my opinion people who think the case will have a generally negative impact on victims of abuse are ignorant
