I remember those VERY RARE Air 10 pursuits (LAPD) on the news during Van Nuys Blvd street races in the early 70's, and I'm in awe of the detail of today's helicopter pursuits. But back then, we were stupid, and we were wrong, but we weren't the violent thugs that prey on our streets today.
FLIR was one of our customers back in the early 90s. It was amazing to work with them and then see it IRL on a helicopter etc. Now with the geolocation mapping and overlays, it is pretty surreal. (I'm not sure if this was FLIR's kit or someone else's)
I’m not a mother, I don’t have kids and I’ve never been carjacked. But it always baffles me anyway that you’d pull over and get out. You see it a lot and even when the person is trying to get you off the road, isn’t even out of the car yet you’re also ready to get out? Nah. Evade and go around or if you have to bust a U turn. Get away from them, you too have a car and can flee. But like I say I dunno what I’d really do or maybe I’ve evades it before, because I can recall an instant or two where someone was acting really weird to get me to pull over or something and I just zoomed off and did some quick turns.
Some people unfortunately aren't smart at all and have zero situational awareness. Unfortunate that these people's children are depending on them to keep them safe and the parents are failing them miserably.

I don't know how this will play out, but if the suspect driver did one thing right, he started to back up, saw the victim had the door open and was trying to get her baby out and stopped, even when the cops arrived he stood fast and waited until it was too late and he was busted, so say what you want....that may have saved him from potentially killing the mother and her child and the associated life sentence.
