I got massive chills when I read "WE CHOSE" and "Journey before destination you bastard" just now, because I read the stormlight archive through audiobook. And Michel Crammer and Kate Redding did so a fantastic job with those two moments that it was just EPIC!
Man that "WE CHOSE" scene is so powerful you can feel how Maya is trying her all to speak just to say those two words that will decide and end the trial.
The Stormlight Archive was so goddamned good that I compulsively binge-read it over the past few months - and then when I finished, _I went back and did it again._ This has _never_ happened to me before. okay Stormlight is cool and everything but this man is SPITTING about LotR and WoT being number 1 and 2. Both of these, but especially Wheel of Time have given me so many moments where I'm like "HELL YEEEAH"
Imo mistborn doesn’t come anywhere close to Stormlight archive or the other greats. I may be in the minority for holding that opinion, but it was just a run of the mill solid fantasy series for me. I don’t think I’ll ever reread it.
Man, I still remember reading Memories of Ice the first time. So much crazy shit, such an epic book. And I loved the first two- the second one is an amazing book and deserved it’s World Fantasy Award for that year 100%. But Memories; I don’t think I’ve been stunned like that reading a book many times…. If at all. When Kallor comes out of nowhere with that big bastard sword of his…. Fucking crazy. But even before that moment, there was just such a cinematic feel to the whole thing. The siege suspense, the Seguleh from Toc’s view, Brood losing his temper on Kruppe, the various war councils were amazing, Paran meeting Silverfox, the T’lan Imass and the Redeemer, Whiskey Jack stopping Rake and their dynamic throughout, Envy, and soooooo much more. Most of that before the climactic battle of Aren. So much of that battle was an incredible read as well. But the most heart warming moment of any in the series possibly was when the two wolves of war finding each other after all that time and how it happened and hinted at it. Honestly, thinking on it now, I can’t believe that’s one book. The Malazan Book of the Fallen can not be matched. I had only even read like two fantasy series prior to that, but it consumed me while it read it. When I was done, all I could think about doing was starting again. But I read Forge of Darkness instead… which is usually what I say is my favourite book ever. Just something about that book and even Fall of Light that I just love. So Erikson is definitely the one for me. I like Cam’s books too, but they’re a different read, no question. It is cool that two authors share a world like that. The output between them has been crazy.

@@mw2king83 it’s not.
I got to book 5 in wheel of time before I quit... found it very dull compared to stormlight, with a massively confusing magic system and just so much filler...
This guy said wheel of time....... why would you jump up and cheer while reading that series. Its the single most predictable series ive ever read.... i mean just read the last chapter of the first 6 books. Oh hey they won the major confrontation in the last chapter with lackluster detail...... cool
The problem with Sanderson is his writing is often long and overly verbose to the point that it's purple prose.
Lol lotr is not #1
