Definitely need an update video please!! Can’t decide between this leather and chestnut latigo!

I prefer Chestnut while it is laying flat, but after it is lasted it lightens up. Which is exactly why I picked this color Latigo. I will work on an update. Got a few I need to do in addition to the BiB videos

Hey awesome boots they look amazing! Can you clarify what color leather these are? I don’t see a w&c latigo dark brown offered

That is the correct name. I don't think it ever got listed on the website as being offered. I guess when you do as many hides as they have been doing some don't get listed. Call an ask. Reference mine if you like. Only pair using that fabric since I ordered it in. (yes, I know you know this, since I answered you in the Community. Figured I'd answer your YT land too)

What's your thoughts on using a W&C latigo on a legit work boot? I spoke to Michelle the other day for awhile about different options; which she was so kind and helpful. I'm looking for it to be able to get splashed with gas or diesel from time to time. As well as deal with some toe contact with finished concrete while kneeling here and there. I'm planing a Commander build with a double celastic toe and toe cap. I have never had issues with my various RW's leathers, yet I do my best to take care of; there's the usual scuffs and scrapes. I think the consensus is to stick with the work intended Seidel's, or at least for the lowers. I like honest patina, infact that's what i had in mind; possibly a work Thunderdome boot? I'm also curious about natural waxed flesh or even a predator. Nonetheless, I am unsure, do to being concerned about compromising for wants vs needs. Your experience and opinion is much appreciated! Thank you Sir.

veg tan is tough, so it could be a good work leather for some people. But veg tan isn't what I would be wanting to get splashed with fuel. Unless maybe you are always able to wipe it off quickly. Even then I would want an oil tanned work leather. Sorry to have to say it. Could certainly do W&C as an upper though.
Waxed flesh is CXL, inside out, with wax. Predator is essentially CXL. (not quite but pretty much.) Both would do better with fuels then veg tan, and I would certainly consider them for what you are describing. At some point ya gotta live your life, and if that is your life, and you want a cool hide, then do it. But the Seidel work leather, would still be your best choice.

Your modifications on that boot look awesome! Did you send in the soles and heels or is that something anyone can just ask for?

They are doing that sole by request now from what I understand. I did order in that canvas myself though. If there is any leftover you are more than welcome to it.

      It's a hybrid.
The B is for block, as it mostly keeps the shape of a block heel. Logger because of the slope/arc you notice in profile view.

The husband and wife behind Frank’s are good people, but I really don’t care for their boot designs. I rather have a pair of nicks or whites if I want a pair of pnw boots.

@@AJ-by6pd what designs would you be talking about??? For lace-ups besides the Tactical and the weird Thurman, Nick's doesn't have any "designs" different than Frank's.
White's lace-ups don't have a visual difference either unless you are talking about their Steven's dress boots.

Well, let me first say I own I own a pair of Wesco Mister Lou’s, Nicks Americanas, Nicks Falcons, and a pair of White’s MP Sherman’s. I also have a pair of Nicks AG64 LTT boots on order. That said, I don’t like that they use alternate tongues on their boots, instead of just skiving the leather. I also don’t like how pronounced their logo is on the boot.
I actually like the Munson last partially due to my connection to the military. I own a pair of Red Wing Munson Rangers.
I hope that explains things .

    • @cloveroak5492
      @cloveroak5492  Před 12 dny

@@AJ-by6pd I think all of Nick's fully gusseted tongues are a different leather just like Frank's? If they aren't, they were until fairly recently. White's definitely skives the same leather. I do like it, but since I always use a full height kiltie it doesn't matter to me as it is never seen. Plus the dedicated leather Frank's uses is actually better from a comfort perspective than the skived leather. But I do hear you and understand. One thing I have noticed on many White's is that they no longer always give you enough gusset to do a proper tri-fold anymore. That's a shame and a problem IMO. If I ever order another pair of White's I'm gonna make sure they are generous with the gusset like they used to always be.
I'd have to do some looking to refresh my memory, but does White's & Nick's leave the outside logo's off their casuals now I think? They do it on work but not casual? I do wish Frank's left the logo off of casuals. They do leave it off the Ryker though.
As for Munson, all of Frank's lasts and therefore many of White's lasts are based on the Munson. They just just un-uglied it. When a boot is available in endless widths, and endless adjustments for jacked feet, the ugly toe box has absolutely zero purpose, beyond that ugly look. I do like the look on my Birks and Croc's, so I understand thinking the ugly looks nice. But while it's necessary on the Birk's and Croc's, it isn't on a MTO PNW.
