In this video we are over at my cobbler buddies shop taking a look at Whites, Nicks and Franks Boots. Check out what he has to say about these companies. What would you like to see us review next? #cobbler #Nicks #Whitesboots - Jak na to + styl
Live 50 miles from Spokane, have Whites, Nick’s, & JK’s, I’ll be adding a pair of Frank’s shortly. My oldest Whites are closing in on 20 years, still going strong. Great to live in the land of the best made boots $ can buy.
Excited to see what you end up getting!!🥾🥾
Very interesting video. Great to hear his opinion. Nice guy. His cobbler shop has some crazy sounds going on, it made me chuckle. 😁
Glad you enjoyed it, certainly a lot going on in a live shop 😃🤣👍 nice guy and great friend 🥾🥾
The Frank's and Nick's are stitchdown, not welted. The White's and Frank's are not suede, it's roughout. Frank's doesn't stitch through the honey or white X soles because it's prone to chip between the edge and the stitch on the softer soles. Additionally, all three makers don't stitch through on the thicker midsoles.
Thanks for watching man! 🥾🥾
They are just different terms that mean the same thing for the leather. And franks does stitch through the honey and white x soles.
Great video and both of you are great guys. Love this channel.
Appreciate your kindness and I’ll be back at his shop at some point!
When these PNW boots break in does the toe box leather form to your toes? Just wondering because most of them don’t have a structured toe
The footbed does but not necessarily the top of the toe.
The upper toe box doesn’t form to your foot per se, but rather softens up and tends to lose a bit of shape if they don’t have steel, carbon or celastic inserts. It’s not a bad thing, it just means it’s more comfortable to walk in. The foot bed absolutely forms to your foot.
I’m Norwegian maybe I should try this Nor V Gen stuff 😅 great video by the way, interesting
You should! 😃👍🤣 love it mate!
Great stuff … would have been really helpful if you had frequently made clear which boot was which.
Thanks for that, keep in mind for next time for sure. Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
Great to hear an expert talk about the quality!!
Yeah this friend of mine is a champ!
Does Mr. Joe Martinez have a CZcams channel? If so, what is it?
Sadly no, I’ll keep encouraging him to do so!
Interesting he didn’t notice the dog between stitch down vs a GYW boot. He might not see stitch down boots.
I don't think he has ever seen rough out either. But this guy is a wealth of knowledge.
Yeah our area doesn’t get these boots. Thanks for watching!!🥾🥾
I have a pair of whites and im getting a pair of nicks soon.
My Perry Selects are fine but my Nick's Tactical are night and day better.
@cjanquart i wanted something different so i ordered a nicks tactical tanker boot with weathershield black . I live in buffalo so i wanted something that would be decent in the snow but not a real snow boot
Whites are my favorite, never have failed me unlike Nicks
@rogerr.8507 whites mp sherman are my favorite boots.
@@cjanquartyou’re comparing a budget (for White’s) GYW style low arch work boot to a premium stitchdown mid-high arch “tactical” boot. A better comparison would be original Smokejumpers.
Those may be the first stitch down boots he’s ever seen.
Might be.
Just an observation, but he seemed to really gravitate towards the Nick's.
Yeah I think that’s the overall conclusion🥾🥾
too much of a good thing?
Ha, yeah!
Does he not know that is not suede? It’s exactly the same leather with the rough side out.
He is very familiar mate.
@@GentlemansJourney Clearly not.
@@bricktop201clearly you’re just being rude. Roughout and suede are the same thing
@@crosspointholsters1636 Suede is made from splitting the hide down the middle to get under layer of the leather. Roughout is the underside of the hide and is NOT split. They are totally different textures. Something tells me you’re selling people suede and telling them it’s roughout...
@@crosspointholsters1636 Bakers Boots and Nicks Boots disagree with you. “Suede, unlike roughout, is made from the under-layer part of the leather is usually cheaper and less durable.” Facts are not rude. I suggest you learn your craft and shut your mouth.
Decent, but not sure if he is the best guy to look at these kinds of boots. Not knowing the difference between suede and rough out is kinda strange.
Thanks for watching
Rough out is also known as full grain suede.
@@olerindalrstad1317 negative.
There is a difference between full grain suede and rough out. Look it up.
@@olerindalrstad1317 Yeah I give him a pass on the lingo for sure, getting caught up on the semantics is not his style.
Your cobbler isn’t schooled in PNW boots. Don’t let him work on your boots. First he needs to learn the difference between suede and rough out.
Cheers for watching! Check out some of the other stuff on the channel too. 🥾🥾
@@GentlemansJourneyDude, do you even pay attention? Suede and roughout are absolutely not the same thing, yet you ignore it every time it’s mentioned. Suede is made from splitting the hide down the middle to get under layer of the leather. Roughout is the underside of the hide and is NOT split. They are totally different textures.
Roughout and suede are not the same thing....
