I used to wear Ariat exclusively. Then after watching all these videos from people on Nick's, JK, and White's, I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair of White's. The difference is tremendous, and until a guy bites the bullet and buys a quality made boot, he'll never quite understand the difference. Good luck Jack.

However, compared to my whites these are night and day as far as break in. I can only give my 15 -20 mile review right now. Good looking, fit great, possibly my new go to.

Despite the extreme price which made me cringe, and the agony during the break in period, some of the places I hiked in the Sierra Nevadas in California and here in Maine would have been quite dangerous without a quality boot and saved me a few times from sprains.

Not sure if this is just me but i dont know anyone else that does it, but for my every day work boots I tie a knot in the laces right in the middle before putting them in the boots so they cant slide side to side more than the distance between the bottom two eyelets. Keeps the laces from getting longer on one side. Its a good tip if you're someone that ever has issues with it.

I had a cheap $100 pair of boots that lasted me over 10 years in fire fighting. It really is all about how well you take care of your boots. I eventually had to retire them after having them re heal for the third or fourth time, not because they wore out, but due to the shoe repair guy used tacks that were too long, and there was just enough sticking through to irritate my heal.
I ended up trading them out for a pair of old (issued) leather Army boots that lasted out the rest of my fire fighting career.
Yes, I still want a pair of Whites, and still regret not buying them when I had the chance. Brown Ruff-Outs for $350 (on fire special).

  • @sumochop360
    @sumochop360 Před rokem

I'm an electrician and wear Justin boots they are not close to the price of the boots you have in the video but I pay around $170 a pair and they last me just around a year and a couple months. I live in Florida and I'm constantly in wet environments either digging trenches for conduit or just rain. My feet never sweat in my boots and I've never had water come in from standing in a puddle or when water fills the ditch. I use obenaufs on my boots and it's the best I've used for keeping the leather healthy and water proof I probably use it 3 times a year unless it's a really rainy season then I might use it once a month. I've been really happy with Justin boots. I could probably get 2 years out of them easily or more if I didn't use them for work but I'm pretty hard on boots. I've never worn out the soles it's usually the heel area that gets beat up. It usually starts to lose its shape and that probably from how I walk more than a manufacturer error. It's the inside of both heals, they start to crush down. I've worn timberlands, Cody James, Ariat and some others but none have been as durable or comfortable as the Justin boots. A lot of guys wear sneakers and I just can't bring myself to wear them. I have to have full lace up and steel toe boots. I've seen so many guys roll an ankle or drop something and smash their toes and every time I'm like you should've worn some boots. I also like lacing up my boots every morning there's just something satisfying about it!

@wranglerstar what denim are you wearing? The shirt/jacket and jeans combo is sick!

I fought fire for years and have logged all my life, do not fold your boot tongue. Take the time to tuck the leather evenly on each side of your leg, your laces will be much tighter and you will get a more fitted feel, less hot spots, and they will break in faster. Just one mans opinion, Regards from the Bull Mts. Montana.

Have you ever tried Jim Greens? They are much more affordable but are a South African family owned company. I’ve been rocking their rangers and absolutely loving them.

Fill them full of water and wear them wet for a day. Its uncomfortable but it will mold to fit your feet from day one.

I have a pair of Danner firefighter boots with side laces and a zipper up the middle. I love them but these lace-up boots look a lot cooler.

Those would be good to wear in your shop when handling sharp axes, heavy tools and hammers, or around your place doing chores.

I love Reebok combat boots, I just have a couple idea's that would make them even better. It would have slightly more weight but better protection from foreign objects.
Plus for kickin in a door I'm sure the human would love the extra weight.

I have Redwings for work and they are great. I put the tough toe on them so that I don't rub holes through the toes from crawling around on concrete all day.

I drive the red wing safety boot truck. Red wings have some of the best quality leather but often do require a break in.

I'm in the same boat with the wide feet. I used to wear 9.5+ but in trying on semi decent shoes one day discovered im 8.5 wide. I went many many years wearing the wrong size apparently. Not many shoes on the shelf come in wide.

Jack, really enjoyed seeing you on a video! Looking forward to some awesome fire lore. You will probably come back from a fire passing your pops in height. Blessings on your path!
