What’s your Planche and Press Level?
My "Planche level" is a form of tuck 😊. Basically the most compact form I need to do for the press to handstand. I don't specifically train for planche yet though.
planche: good tuck, 1 second straddle
press: can't even handstand consistently
Full planche, no handstand :(
Damn, I love your videos. Looks so effortless.
For those of you still trying to get your feet to "float" off the ground, I've learned that sliding into it (as Paul alluded to) makes a huge difference for me. I couldn't do it at all a couple weeks ago. I got some floor parallettes, put my body in a pushup position (with socks on and on the rug to slide) and by sliding up and then imagining a string pulling my hips up at the top position, I started finally figuring out how to float the feet up! No idea why the momentum made such a difference, but it did. I was then able to do it on my hands about a week later (I practice this a couple times an hour anytime I'm at home).
It makes sense to combine that training. But the programming might need fine tuning to make progress on the planche, and still have frequency of training necessary for the skill component of the press. I say that because I tried this combo before and I ended up having to quit because I felt I was spinning my wheels. Progress was very slow for both press and planche and I felt if I made a good improvement on one, the other lagged because of recovery. And if I added in more recovery time… then my press suffered. I certainly had an issue dialing it in. I will say on a personal level I had much better success doing HSPU and the press together. I do your HSPU workout on your app twice a week, and I do a lighter press work out 4x per week and my progress has accelerated greatly. The frequency of the press training helps the skill and flexibility component, and the strengthening of the shoulders happens on the HSPU day. Anyway, just thought I’d share. I finally found a method where strength training, recovery, and skill training are dialed in for me as far as the press goes
The hip activations are somewhat different though; obviously for presses you want compression, whereas for planche (say a pl lean press to planche) you want to push down your hips as much as possible from the get go, otherwise the line will be compromised. So a stalder to straddle planche (or endo to full) might be somewhat awkward
Thank you brother, very much appreciated
Thank you!
that's really cool, thanks, I'll do that. really good
Спасибо!
Ok
Damm, Paul, you make it look easy. I still have much work to do before I can reach this but you help a lot
Thanks lots of practice!
ARE YOU ABLE TO DO FULL PLANCHE?
Don't you have videos where you show how you did when you just started to train for handstand, planches and straddles. Because this all look so very easy. How many years it took before you were able to do this all?
Check out this video it talks about timelines and shows how long it took me to achieve certain skills czcams.com/video/471khyYJVBE/video.htmlsi=0h3mDTS_wewwbpMB
Excellent, Paul.
Any training program for this?
Tricky to give details without assessing level, conditioning and other variables. I’d recommend training Planche and or press 3-4 x per week in combination with a HS balance program
@@PaulTwyman I can do tuck planche for a few seconds but a little experience for handstand training. Thanks for the advice!
