I’m an architect in Asheville NC. Wish we could talk. Watching you guys discussing the new house. Do you have topographical survey for your site. A conceptual site plan is a good approach to testing orientation of building structures with the site. Many things to consider: solar orientation, views, access, weather, breezes, utilities, etc. The topo helps make decisions with relationship to the land and natural environment with the house. I think you would also be interested in Biophilic design which combines the built environment with nature and brings together indoor and outdoor living space.
Cheers, Ken
Louis dad seems like such a sweetheart! I remember watching his cooking videos ages ago
Oh- I wonder how I find those?
@@megangardner2766I think deleting the his account or videos

Louis is so so like his Dad!
Omg yes
I was just going to say Neo is so so like HIS dad, Louis 🥹❤️
I think the smartest idea would be building three terrace.. Because trying to build one big flat building would require moving all the boulders and the soil looks like a nightmare to try to move. My Dad has land in Guatemala and he had that same similar soil and the way he got rid of a lot of them was hiring someone to come and blow them up with dynamite and he's used some of the pieces in the house he's built. And putting the house on the stilts I feel would takeaway from the scenery. Building it with the terraces would make the house become apart of the landscape.
Louis I want to commend your kind character for staying up late to get the room cleaned for the landlord. You were understanding how that was a bit shocking for her to see and even though she could have handled it in a nicer way you were still respectful. You are a wonderful husband, father and son! Blessings to you and your lovely family!
Well, it was very disrespectful of them in the first place to fill that communal area with all their crap. So the landlord acted the correct way and Louis had no other option lol.
He had no choice.
First and foremost, you need a bushhog to help clear that area...that will give you the best way to really see your lot...with stilts comes a better view and air flow, plus, less bugs than on the ground...why don't you place the workshop next to the house that way your view is not impeded....just a viewers opinion 😊😊
This might be my favorite video you’ve ever posted. I’m so excited for you guys. You seem like you’re in pure bliss and you have the excitement of what is to come with your property. Watching you guys on the beach is absolutely beautiful. Raya you’re absolutely gorgeous and glowing! Much love to your sweet family ❤️
Thank you so so much! ❤️
Raya, you glow as you mother your beautiful boy. My heart is full for you. You beam fulfillment. ❤
Used cars in Costa Rica was the bane of our existence here. We bought our first car when we moved here 10 years ago in February, it was a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and in October of 2021 we gave it to our daughter, like the bad gift, lol. We bought a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado, best decision we ever made! I get it in every day and I don't fear what's gonna break today, what problem I'm gonna have now, where am I gonna be stuck, if my lights are gonna go out, if my 4 wheel drive is gonna be stuck in or out. So thankful for the ability to buy a newer vehicle. When you move here more full-time buy a newer car it is a must in Costa Rica. Good 4x4 with solid A/C. Also can I extend an invitation to come visit....we live at the beach just north of your wedding location. We have goats, chickens, cats, dogs and spectacular views of the Pacific.
Terraced land with retaining walls is Definitely the way to go. Especially to avoid liquefication during rainy season. 24 years equipment operator here. Did some landscape work over the years as well. Looks amazing. Can't wait to watch all grow. ❤
The scene of your family at the beach was beautiful! It was a treat to have your dad there because he could film and we got to see all three of you on camera full size, at the same time!
An hour long raya and louis video, what a treat!!
Soooooooooo happy
Haha thank you so much!! We tried to cut it down but we’d filmed too much 🙈 so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Right! I loved it sooo much! I wish all the videos were this length!
it was like a movie
@@RayaandLouis Absolutely loved it! The longer the better…✨💚✨
It was so nice to have your dad visit. I can't wait to see what you two come up with for your design. I know it's going to be epic. But it 💯 needs to have a zipline to our place and an underground tunnel
Hahah yes!
You could definitely make the container box look nice. Eamon and Bec did a good job making one look good in Mexico for the dogs. You could paint it out in windows. You guys could definitely make it look good! I can’t wait to see all these videos in Costa Rica ❤
I’m so happy for you guys. Finally getting a season in your second home! And Raya, you’re just beautiful. Motherhood suits you! Louis, what an amazing job you’ve done working so hard to care for your family. You two are quite a team! I love seeing Neo so happy and thriving. ❤
I agree with you motherhood suits her❤
Ahh thank you so much! ❤️
The hills are not problem, the best way to do it is with concrete “steps” and framing up them. You will have a lot of windows and this kind of construction will be very easy and cheap way to do your project. Good luck!
I agree completely! I would not build on stills! It’s very very costly and not very safe if you don’t build it right!
I’m getting baby vibes. Love seeing you all so happy.
Beautiful episode. 🥰 I love the Neo and grandpa moments. So sweet. 🥰
If I were you guys, I would try to get an architect and possibly landscaper to help you plan this. You will probably save money in the long run if you can come up with a really good layout/plan.
When I woke up this morning to an HOUR LONG VIDEO I knew I had to save it for my breakfast post meditation. Love you guys!! So excited to see more of you in Costa Rica.
Edit: I’m massively PRO bidet! You cut down on paper waste, it’s a better system for plumbing and you honestly feel so much cleaner. I recommend. And you can get a cheaper one that you install vs built in on Tushy! I’m so proud of bidet I use portable ones backpacking 😂😂
Edit again: I think it would be logistically better to do stepped landings. You can have separation of spaces and build up to connect them (if you want). This way you still have a feeling of openness but with different zones.
Lois your dad is a really good dad to come all the way to Costa Rica to help you with all that. And Neo is just as adorable as ever and he kills me with his eyebrows always scrunched up like he is concentrating on something important it’s so cute and funny.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice❤❤
Bidet is life changing. The high end toto one with the heated seat & unlimited heated water is so good. Never use toilet paper again and much cleaner then you can ever get with TP
Guys what ever you do to the land use the boulders as part of your landscaping. I think doing like two terraces will make things easier when planing your landscaping. Put the container in a place where it does not block your views and in a shaded area. Guanábana is my favorite fruit. Great video guys and it’s great to see you all so happy planning your new home. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
Wow what a great comment from a great lady❤
Hi Raya and Louis, I’m loving these Costa Rica videos, I’m so envious of you all having this wonderful place that you will eventually live there and bring up your kids. Neo seems like he is having lots of fun out there. It’s perfect there lovely beautiful views and lovely and warm. Superb guys. Xxx
Wow what a great comment from a great lady❤
this was the best, 1 hour of your guys in PURE JOY AND THERAPY!!! thanks for making us part of living in costa rica alegria, love it
Louis Dad! Hello! You are a great sport! Love your involvement and support in your families life and also how you are so supportive and getting stuck into vlogging for L&R channel to! Brilliant!
Looking forward to your future adventure with them in the "Jungle Diaries." Before cooking and now DIY! Fun!

Loved this, the scenery, colour, sounds, warmth & of course you three plus Louis' Dad.
Watching from chilly Scotland.♥
Costa Rica is the best country on Earth with the most kind people in existence, hands down! Pura Vida por siempre
Yes bidet ❤. I was just in Costa Rica for a month and missed my bidet so much.
Louis, I love your Dad! Fixing cars, building, enjoying Neo, all enjoying one another, beautiful!
So glad I put time aside this watch this longer vlog. It was uplifting
You all look so happy! Neo is definitely loving life.❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Great to see Louis's Dad, your friends, the community, your plans and of course darling Neo. It was all almost magical.
Raya looks so beautiful! Your hair is so shiny and nice!!
Can't tell you enough how uplifting these Jungle Diaries have been! So wonderful to see alternative ways of living, with community and environmental stewardship at the heart of it all. Seeing you thriving and modeling this way of life is so inspiring. Thank you, I can't wait for the next one.
Amazing video. I love your new community. Been watching you both for 10 years. Neo is adorable. 💖☺️
You can honestly see and hear the pure bliss in your voices of just being so at peace. That is my dream my family as well. I’m so happy for you all!
When l built in the '90's it was all concrete block or wood. Now a days they weld metal beams to build. Very slope friendly. You guys are the best parents, btw!!!!❤
Here I am trying to have some me time while planning my japan trip while the kiddos are asleep and I spent most of my time watching you guys dreaming of whats to come. Its been a while since I’ve caught up with you both but I am so amazed at how similar bur so different your lives are now 🥹 Way to go guys, can’t wait to see everything progress.
There is no doubt how much that baby is loved - you all are the most loving parents. ❤️
Your beautiful little one seems so chill and aware. Love

Costa Rica looks incredible, it is definitely one of my bucket list destinations. ❤
Would definitely recommend!
Absolute stunner!! It’s all so wonderful I’m so happy for y’all!
I am so excited for you guys to start building! Costa Rica is high on my travel list and these vlogs are making me want to go asap!
I’m over the moon for your future on your land there! Your dad was awesome to pick up the camera and help filming here and there. Love the community. The people, the area, the surrounding market s, towns, villages, beach, I could go on for hours. One of my very favorite videos. There are many! I really love you guys! It’s fun to watch you. It’s sad that I’m getting to know you, but you aren’t getting to know me.
Omg looks amazing there. Definitely has inspired me for the future. Look forward to your future videos. Keep being youz
With the container, you can add murals on it from your heritages plus your new home of Costa Rica with animals and the lush gardens 🎉🎉🎉🎉 loved this one plus that beach ❤ enjoy and very much looking forward to your next upload. 😊
As a very visual person, I’m excited to see the plans and progress ! The sense of community there is so special. Incredibly happy for you guys & hope everything goes as smooth as possible! 🤍✨
Sooo happy to you guys happy 💙💙💙💙
Such an uplifting video, fun to watch.
Raya is absolutely glowing ❤
Thank you!! ❤️
its great to see you guys getting into life in costa rica and making big plans! the best bits of the video for me though were seeing raya so happy and glowing as a mum, so gorgeous to see, and louis relationship with his dad - 3 generations of positive masculinity is such a rare and wonderful thing to see!
It was emotional seeing you so happy at the beach. ❤❤❤ Beautiful footage of Neo and the fam.
It absolutely counts!! One step at a time. YAY!!!
The container is a genius idea. Great problem solving.
So happy your Costa Rican Life has gotten you exited and happy and not like before in Brighton that it felt like a negative thing almost but here you are living the best Life surrounded by Friends !! Thanks for an hour of fun watching you! See y'all on the next one!
Looking forward to the build series 💪
Thank you all for sharing this video. The positive vibe I get from watching your channel is truly a gift! I could watch Neo for hours honestly🥰. Raya looking amazingly gorgeous as usual and Louie’s generous soul ….. much love to you all❣️❣️❣️❣️
I love that when I look at Neo I can see both of you SO clearly on his face -- darling!! LOVE the ideas you have about changing the bus, and it's very healthy and reasonable to realize that even though you're making changes, it's moving ahead into a new season with the bus and that you were going to HAVE to tear out lots of the wood anyway. Also, you could use the tiles as an accent along a retaining wall or other surface where you will have a thicker adhesive on the back, so that the adhesive that's already there won't be an issue. They're beautiful tiles, so whatever you do, they will be a wonderful accent. Also, I want to be at Ser with you guys - wow! It looks amazing!!! Glad your dad made it in and that you're enjoying your time with your dear friends. Sorry about the neighbor, but, even though it was very inconvenient, she may have done you a favor by forcing you to move ahead with a task that may have lingered for quite some time. Sometimes our progress comes because someone else demands it of us -- doesn't feel nice at the time, but in the end, we accomplished a task and then had time to focus on other things. Anywho, lovin' your diaries.
This was a very enjoyable video. Your land is amazing, and your community is wonderful.
Great video! Louis, your dad is the best!
Our daughter Sofiah and her husband Brendan have a retreat center, yoga studio, boutique in Dominical - Danyasa - which is all built from shipping containers and is beautiful. Brendan has also built houses from shipping containers. Your land looks lovely.
Love, love, love, love, love, love your vlogs! 🤎✨🙏
My good friend has a home in Jaco and is there right now! So neat to see the beach where she goes🤠❤️
Love the jungle diaries! It feels exciting to embark on this journey with you guys. The teaser for next week’s episode makes me wanna scream haha. Thank you for sharing your life with us!❤
Didn’t stop smiling! x
O my gosh, soo excited for the next renovations love this one very much. So nice for you all and your dad that he was able to come over!!
Thank you for showing and inspiring such richness in life. Your vlog overflows with love, joy and peace.
What a great guy to help you out! Love your friends setup.
Earth ship...it's the perfect scenario, available building tools, and the only way to run a home in the future, or even now! You can do it with any building material...even shipping containers. And grow indoor banana plants and all veggies. Even in northern latitudes...but there, you guys could make something so perfectly wonderful!! ♥️♥️♥️
Awesome family, ❤
Costa Rica is so photogenic! Such a smart move. 🎉
I feel like I blinked and Louis went from this super fast passed lifestyle where it was adventure after adventure, overnight editing, 5 cups of coffee to this slow paced family life in a community where any parents would strive to raise children. I’ve been watching for years and seeing this transition is bittersweet but I’m so proud of this new journey. 🥹
❤️❤️
Guys please dont plan to live in the bus...you have seen how bad things can get in the bus, especially when you guys will be away.
It really is not that much more expensive to build soem basic brick rooms ...please add 2 rooms . For safety and security and also to prevent it getting mould and so deterioration .
Please guys , you may save some money now, but in the long run you will save more and be more stable with brick rooms .
You can use the bus as a guest area / playroom.
Guys, making so many wonderful memories. Yeah! 🤣😆😃😊🥰
I loved this episode! ❤ Neo is soooo adorable 🥰 He is lucky to have you as parents!
This one was a treat❤ loved it. Can't wait to watch the process 😊
love the long format!
We added bidets during Covid. LOVE them. We agree, much less toilet paper. We would recommend them to everyone.
How amazing what a blessing. you broke down in the perfect persons front yard. wow life is awesome just wow
Aww, my "babies" are now 27 and 30 years old. This makes me melancholy for those early days at the beach. The world is such a wondrous place through a child's eye. Love this part of your life! It flies by
Yes! Mine are in their mid to late 20's and living happy lives far from here. I was feeling an aching feeling in my heart for those happy times when they were young and we lived near the beach. It made me smile and tear up when I saw the joy Raya, Louis, and Neo were having at the beach. Also a blessing that grandpa is included!
I'm so thrilled you guys are back to Costa Rica and that we get to follow along
Wonderful!
The orange flower looks like a Gerber Daisy. The peppers take a long time to germinate. I find that putting them in a wet paper towel in a warm place for a few days allows them to germinate quicker and gives them a head start. I love the herb pipe beds. You can put strawberries in those too.
Omg, the ending!! AAAA, I would cry 😂 Can’t wait to watch how that unfolds lol
This is my favorite video you either of guys have made in years. Feels like classic Louis is back. Can't wait for the home build series.
Also great to see Louis dad so much after so long.
Live the adventure!
Wow thank you!! ❤️
Such a beautiful family and a such a spectacular place to be able to live . Love watching your vlogs x
Thank you! ❤️
Awww loved the family vid
I have a special needs grandson who has issues with cleaning himself. My daughter got a bidet attached to the toilet. Best thing ever.
How about placing the container parallel to the bus and the roof of the container to become the deck itself? Then the container has double function and doesn’t block the view.
A container studio is the dream, I'm planing to incorporate one into my house build in Mexico, a creative space that fuels self reliance. Big love to all the fam xx
Love this longer video!!!
For your sloping land, have you considered building your house partially underground into the hillside? The Earth is a natural insulator that would help keep your house naturally cool and reduce your energy consumption. It would be a unique structure, just like the others you have!
