I don't eat my watermelon seeds, and was also told growing up that I would grow a watermelon in my tummy if I do 😂

Loving the Jungle Diaries! I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I thoroughly enjoy watching and learning as Raya whips up her vegan delights in the kitchen. Haven’t been to Costa Rica in years, but you guys are making me wish for a return trip! 🦎🏝️
Nooo, Louis isn’t crazy. He is getting (insoluble) fiber and micronutrients (like potassium and iron) in his watermelon seeds. They are good for your brain, nervous system, and bones. There is even more nutrition (like protein) after they are sprouted. Go Louis! 🌱🍉
Raya is like the embodiment of Mother Earth, she is gorgeous with a kind soul and Loui is also super kind and thoughtful and with both parents being such amazing human beings along with the mix of cultures and variety of people he will get to learn from I cannot wait to see the amazing person Neo will become. You get the full benefit of the watermelon when you eat the seeds. (: I've been eating them for years now. It's just as beneficial as pumpkin, sunflower seeds, ect. I've not thought about it like that before, so funny! I have seen sprouted watermelon seeds in natural food shops even.

Growing up some of us (Family of six) ate the seeds, some did not. We where told it was alright. I picked most of them but also ate some. Still alive love following you all. Just warms my heart lots of times.
Really been enjoying these weekly vlogs and I'd say the most interesting bits are about the land and the home build stuff, for now while you're in the planning phase for that, it was cool to see Louis help build at the school.

Maybe you just feed him all the time for the camera so he doesn’t make a mess?! He should be exploring the feel and textures of his food with his fingers and learning how to use a spoon. watermelon seeds are rich in magnesium and contain folate
I've always eaten the watermelon seeds. They're supposed to be good for you too, they've got magnesium, iron and zinc.

Been watching you for years but never left a comment. I’m inlove with this idea for the pasta sauce. I’m a lifelong vegetarian and fully addicted to nutritional yeast but don’t know what to do with it besides on eggs, baked potato’s and popcorn 😂 I never even thought to put it in a sauce! Thank you! Completely enjoying seeing your plans coming together for your land. It’s a very long game. We’ve been working on our land(in the US) 3 years now. Seems like not much changes then one day you’re standing and looking at a completely different property…and you think “I(we) did this, I made these gardens, I improved the land!” Great feeling I know you both will enjoy.

Seeds of all fruits carry the most alkaline content and we all know why alkaline is good. So there's no issues with eating the seeds, infact it's probably the most nutritional part of the fruit. Great video too 😊

In small quantities, watermelon seads are not harmful. However, do a search "do watermelon seads contain cyanide" and this is what you get.
"Here's the interesting fact, watermelon seeds contain traces of cyanide, a toxic substance that is released when the seeds are crushed or chewed. But don't panic! The amount of cyanide present in a few seeds is not enough to cause harm unless you consume them in large quantities."
So, dont eat a ton of them! 😊

I agree, I think your vehicle was at an incline trying to climb over that little burm, unable to move the container. If you had a longer strap and vehicle on flat ground it probably would move the container.
Just a observation...I know he's teething..but saw him pulling on his left ear..if he gets more fussy...might want to check for a ear infection...common in little ones..

We eat the seeds of all sorts, in fact theyre usually bagged and sold at a premium. Get em down ya as my parents would say
I have always eaten my watermelon seeds. Some I just swallow the others I chew as I eat the melon. I have never thought that one can remove them. When chewed they actually extremely medicinal they say.

Great that you can access so many plant based items while in CR so that you can prepare vegan meals.
Watermelon seeds contain the most of vitamins and minerals (as mentioned iron and potassium, even calcium and more), they are healthy also for guts and digestion. Though it's true the most vitamins and minerals you get from them it's through boiling them in the water and drink this broth. I eat the whole watermelon and seeds for years and really can vouch for its benefit.

Loved this vlog, so excited to see how you guys will develop your land ❤ also just wanted to say, non-heme iron from beans/lentils sadly has a very poor bioavailability, even with vitamin C added, because of the phytic acid. Heme iron is the best for developing brains 🧠
I don’t chew the seeds but I do swallow them. I didn’t as a kid because of that growing in your tummy myth but when I got older I realized that was more to keep kids from possibly choking on the seeds and stopped worrying too much about if I swallowed them and now it’s not even noticeable when I eat one! 😂

I eat watermelon seeds! We eat other seeds so why not watermelon ones? I love all seeds like chia, sunflower, pumpkin so….
No black watermelon seed consumption for me ...whether or not a garden sprouts in the tummy (don't recall being told that) lol. I'm even careful with the smaller white seeds. OMG that Neo blowing bubbles in the water! Still giggling from that. These vlogs are so so wonderful. Yep Raya I saw and left some love on your comeback video!

I’m very heard that watermelon seeds are good for you! They’re also soft so they’re easy to eat - it’d be weird if he was eating like an orange seed or something but watermelon seeds are soft and have no flavor so it’s easy to eat them right along with the watermelon ☺️

I have read that the fat content of watermelon seeds is high with fiber content and minerals low. So they are harmless, but not good to eat when dieting. Swallowing them avoids calories, but eating them is okay, too.
