I too was worried about Michael’s erasure. I was pleasantly surprised that the documentary included his contribution and the media around the documentary was positive. It felt nice as a fan to consume something positive

I’m a massive Michael fan but I’m also big Huey Lewis and the News fan and I’m so glad Huey is getting his praises and has been shown so much love recently, and also that he was in this to explain his side of things because Huey has been saying for literal years that his part was originally Prince’s and that it was too high for him which is why he struggled for a bit at first but a lot fans chose to make fun of Huey for it which always got on my nerves

Lionel was really close to Michael and you could tell how much he missed MJ. It was just so right that he was more or less the storyteller. Quincy, Michael, Lionel and all the rest pulled off an all-nighter that made history! Great song! Great documentary!

This was such a good documentary. Much better than thriller 40. The funniest part of the documentary was when Lionel Richie and MJ were recording the song in MJs house and his huge python snake crept into the room and started hissing and Lionel Richie started screaming like a girl 😭😭 and MJ tried to reassure him that the snake loves his voice 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

10 / 10 one of the most chilling documentaries ever. i felt like I was there among these cultural icons. it was so emotional. it captured my attention all to the credits. seeing them superstars being insecure to sing in front of other superstars. seeing actually legends see each other do their secret magic. or them cheer for each other. i remember rewatching the moment Michael starts clapping after steve perry and Derral sang. and steve being kind of shy to look at Michael next to him. awsome. it truly is a historic moment like moon landing . with time there will be more moon landings and we'll get used to it but there will never be that moment in time when they recorded "we are the world ". and the broadcasted it at the same time around the world. come on. such a powerful uniting feeling. this is a gem. and needs an oscar, golden globe recognition. what a perfect memory to go to back for all future anniversaries.

Steve was so humble and shy you can't even find him in the big group shots, it's like he wasn't there.

Hi Pez and friends! I felt like you all…It was really great!!! My husband and I couldn’t take our eyes off of it for a split second… We cried… And learned so much that we didn’t know before. in the amount of time they had they covered everything very well, I think… I loved it. ❤

I think Lionel Ritchie is on the board for the USA aid for Africa. Maybe we can ask him to reissue the sweatshirt or poster

I agree with the girl on the left. They did such a great job creating the tension that i had to keep reminding myself that they did pull it off lol.

Getting song writing credit from Smokey is high praise indeed. Smokey wrote some of Motown’s biggest hits and that’s saying something from that his factory

Worldwide, Madonna was bigger than Lauper. They picked Lauper because they thought Madonna couldn't sing, which is kinda brutal. True, but still, she deserved to be there. She was a huge star and really wanted to be there while Lauper was way more critical (which is fine, but then I'd rather have the person supporting the project more).

I was a surprise for you that Michael ‘ s recognition was a surprise???? It could not be different! I don’t understand you guys

As we mentioned in the episode, it was a surprise because even when Michael contributes a lot to a project, his contribution can often be diminished by others. So as we said, you never know which way the producers could go.

if you'd been alive at the time, it makes sense why he didn't want to be in it. At the time, IT SERIOUSLY was over exposure. This was the start of the backlash and hate from the press. In fact, some of the coverage at the time, spun it as Michael trying to make his image up a bit.
This was the BEGINNING of the end for MJ, in some ways, him not being in it, may have delayed the back last that really started the next year and escalated his entire life.
