First, I'd like to thank you both for alerting me that this documentary even existed. I just finished watching it and wow! It's amazing!
I was a kid in 1985 but I still remember listening to the radio when they premiered "We Are The World" all over the world at the same time. Such an incredible feat even back then!
It ranks as one of the highest points of modern music. Not produced for egos and profits, but for some others who need help. My hat's off to Lionel, Michael and Quincy, and special regards to the one singing with the passion and energy, Cindy. What a great gal. Glad you guys got to experience and appreciate the characters behind this mighty effort.
I appreciated the documentary and the role that Harry Belafonte played. It was so important for Black Americans to be seen supporting Africans. There was a mixed history of Black Americans perception and connection to Africans. Stevie, Harry and Michael had pro African songs during the 70s and 80s and used African language and references in their songs. An important turning point
There’s a Band Aid documentary. I watched it a million times in the 80s. They should do a new version of that, since it started everything. ❤

I loved the documentary so much! I have always liked the song and video, but watching the behind-the-scenes footage was so much fun. It was so emotional.
It’s a great song always makes my heart pitter patter and my eyes well up. I saw the video over and over again of course on MTV and whenever it was on the radio never ever changed the channel .Always watched or listened to it till the end. You’re excitement has got me jazzed up to hear your response to the music video (cant Wait) and I’m gonna check out the documentary in the meantime. Watched the Net Flex special it was really great seeing the process it took to pull it together. Some selfless individuals made it all happen. Great to see some of the big personalities dial it back. Loved Huey and Cindy. Brought back great memories, looking forward to your reaction. Great stuff.
Around 11-something, to me it sounds like you say Michael didn’t attend the 1985 AMAs because Prince won. He didn’t attend because he was working in We Are The World and recording his part
No I didn't mean it that way. Micheal nor Prince knew who was going to win so that wasn't the reason. I know he was recording his parts during the AMA's. Lionel did say in the documentary that the rivalry was real and happening during that time on 1985.

it was a great collaboration and it was so cool - Live Aid was the reuniting of Led Zeppelin and Madonna played and lots of great music was displayed

I just dried my tears after watching it. I remember when it first came out, I dissed it as a not very good song. Now I think in terms of its impact, it may be the most important song ever written.

You live in a fantasy world. Watch Matteo Mancuso. He probably plays better than any guitar player from the 60's 70's and 80's expect maybe Allan Holdsworth. The gifted people of today don't have a platform to present their music but they exist. Today good musicians struggle more than ever to find a label. These plastic wrapped "musicians" are no idols to us.
I’m very convinced that Bob Dylan is Autistic. Watch the part where Stevie makes the joke about everyone having to be driven home by him or Ray. Everyone busts out in laughter, and he’s just standing there with his usual demeanor. lol. Plus that would explain the genius. 🥰
