Is the 2020 VW Tiguan a GOOD compact SUV you should BUY?

  • The VW Tiguan has something that the other compact SUVs does not have! Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 184HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior features clean German styling. On the inside you will find a spacious cabin and the only 3rd row seating in this class. Is the 2020 VW Tiguan a Better compact SUV than the Honda CR-V & Toyota RAV4?

    APR Stage 1 ECU tune bumps the power all the way up to 278 hp and 341 lb-ft according to their website. The VW 2.0 liter engines are very tunable. I don’t imagine people who are looking to buy a Tiguan will do it but it’s nice to know the potential.

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 Před 3 lety +2

      Second to that! Added a Stage 1 APR tune to my MK6 GTI after driving it for 40K miles. Added another 40K before trading it for a MK7.5 GTI without a single issue. Not one. Can't vouch for the specific HP and torque figures APR claims but I have no reason to doubt them. The impact of the 30 minute ECU tune is immediate and more than significant and the impact on fuel economy (assuming you can discipline your right foot) is minimal, about 1-3 mpgs.
      Interestingly, the Stage 1 tune might be even more appropriate for the Tiguan than for the GTI. For a vehicle with a manual transmission APR recommends upgrading and/or periodic replacement of the clutch. No need for that in the Tiguan's AT. Further, the 4Motion AWD system in the Tiguan eliminates the torque steer and reduces tire wear that comes with the tuning upgrade.
      All in all, based on my experience a $800 investment in a Stage 1 tune is highly recommended

    I’ve got a 2019 SEL Premium 4Motion and love it. Wish it had more power but that’s my only real complaint. (I wanted a Mazda 3 HB but got ores of waiting.) I was a bit upset that 4 months after I got mine they updated the instrument cluster to the shape it is now, but that’s a minor complaint. The built in GPS could be better, mine came with a SD card from 2016 I believe and is outdated. Upgrade that and you’re golden.
    I use the cubby on the dash for an air freshener. I’ll occasionally toss my keys and wallet there when I’m going for a long road trip.

    My sister just bought a 2020 tiguan and I noticed that the hood blocks the windshield wipers from being able to be flipped all the way up. Am I doing something wrong or is it just a flawed design?

    Hey Joe. In Germany is also available at 220 HP. Why doesn`t it exist in the USA? But there ist now also a Facelift, perhaps it will get more Power in the USA. In Germany more People drive a Diesel and not a Gasoline engine. Great Test Joe!
