Is the 2020 VW Tiguan a GOOD compact SUV you should BUY?

- The VW Tiguan has something that the other compact SUVs does not have! Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 184HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior features clean German styling. On the inside you will find a spacious cabin and the only 3rd row seating in this class. Is the 2020 VW Tiguan a Better compact SUV than the Honda CR-V & Toyota RAV4?

“Six, seven year old that you don’t even know who they are, but you need to take them somewhere 🥴” ... 😂😂 SOLD
Best part of the review hahaha
sounds very sus
lmao
Hilarious
Omg taking random kids off
I like your personality/humor. Not like other car reviewers that talk like robots. Keep it up 👍
"the third row when you find out about a kid you never knew about!"--man i literally laughed out loud lol
It was really funny 😂
I actually have the 2020 Tuguan sel and I have zero complaints! Love the car big enough for me and the family
Thanks Rayshard for sharing that input from your experience!
I have the 2019 and I’m very happy with mine too for what it is and what I paid!
What's the bumper-bumper warranty now, isn't it more than 3 yrs/36K miles?
About to buy one now I’m hoping I love this car 👍🏻
I have no complaints what do ever! But I do like the face lift on the 2021 R that's coming out 😂
Love your review style Joe! One of a kind!
Yes, please show more compact suvs... currently shopping around. Love your videos!
You are doing a very good job in your reviews, keep it up.
i love your reviews! I just purchased a 2020 Tiguan! I love it
Great review. Your sense of humor is awesome.
Great review joe!
I use the dash tray when my wife is driving. I put my glasses, wallet and any other small items there.
APR Stage 1 ECU tune bumps the power all the way up to 278 hp and 341 lb-ft according to their website. The VW 2.0 liter engines are very tunable. I don’t imagine people who are looking to buy a Tiguan will do it but it’s nice to know the potential.
Second to that! Added a Stage 1 APR tune to my MK6 GTI after driving it for 40K miles. Added another 40K before trading it for a MK7.5 GTI without a single issue. Not one. Can't vouch for the specific HP and torque figures APR claims but I have no reason to doubt them. The impact of the 30 minute ECU tune is immediate and more than significant and the impact on fuel economy (assuming you can discipline your right foot) is minimal, about 1-3 mpgs.
Interestingly, the Stage 1 tune might be even more appropriate for the Tiguan than for the GTI. For a vehicle with a manual transmission APR recommends upgrading and/or periodic replacement of the clutch. No need for that in the Tiguan's AT. Further, the 4Motion AWD system in the Tiguan eliminates the torque steer and reduces tire wear that comes with the tuning upgrade.
All in all, based on my experience a $800 investment in a Stage 1 tune is highly recommended
Excellent review as always!
Hi I love Videos because you you inspire me which car should get for my first car
I gotta say it you and Doug at this point. Keep up the good work.
Woo..here we go..non-stop work ..putting in the miles ..best Auto reviewer..on the tube..💯💯💯💥💥
Great review, thank you!
I like the way you present a vehicle and because of that I'm your newest subscriber. 😊
Joe, you’re on fire man!!
Husband:" Hey honey....guess what? I just found out I have a kid I didn't know about. Good thing we got the Tiguan with that third row seating."
Wife:" Third row seating is the least of your worries."
Super detailed. Thanksb
Bentley and VW in the same day!! Love your versatility man.
We have a 2019 SE and we love it! To answer your question about the cubby, we use it to put our sunglasses, Face Mask, toothpicks etc.
Same here I have the 2019 SE and have car wash tokens and other odds & ends there in that cubbie on the dash
Just don't ever put a small chocolate candy bar up there.
Sunglasses! Our 2019 SEL oddly has no sunglasses holder on the roof like the premium.
@@yxflier8409 should be down by the light switch. pull door open. (that where it is on 18 SEL)
Have a 2019 SEL ..w/4Motion, NO 3rd row. Love the gas mpg.....no youngin’s that I know about.🤔
Love ❤️ my '19 sel premium...quiet and comfortable ride, decent power, good handling and roomy interior...impressive ⛽️ gas mileage also...
Great review.
Thanks for saying that!
Really like this. Great family car. Can't wait till this available on the VW configurator 👍🏻
I love it, I just bought one! Its a gem! Perfect ride!
I rented this suv for a day and I’m in love with it now I want this 2020 model😍
I recently purchased a 2020 Tiguan and I’m seriously loving my new ride . Mine has third row of seats and 4 motion all wheel drive. Agree with you on the smoothness of the ride . It handles great 👍🏻
Congrats Joseph! I really appreciate you taking the time to share that feedback.
Still loving it?
I am really enjoying my 2020 Tiguan, btw I use that cubby on the dash to put my smart car scent diffuser, it sits in there really well
Thanks again for your review
Joe coming through with the family hauler for today!!! Honestly not a huge fan of VW but this looks decent. Thanks for the upload man!!! Killing it out here!!! #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesGoWhere #CrownVic #OnThrottleAgain #ThatsAZonk
Well done review. Can't help but wonder how reliable it is?
You are the best man! You always crack me up 😅
arrived, ive become even more of a car guy watching your videos
Thanks for that! I really appreciate your support!
Welcome to the club 👏
I suppose this is the all space version. Keep up the good work 👍
The "All Space" designation isn't used in the US. We get only that version and it's known simply as the Tiguan. The second generation original and smaller Tiguan is still sold in Europe but not in the US.
This was one of your funniest videos. Thank you 🤣
I was comparing several compact SUVs online when a pop up window appeared for this one. After watching this review I may lease my first Volkswagen.
I have a 2020 VW Tiguan SE, I put 5k miles on it and that car is really really good. The car it self is just really comfy and the infotainment system is really easy to use. I like how a compact car is actually really big and comfy for its price and I would recommend it to anyone. Also love the head and taillights, they look really cool.
Thanks for sharing that input from your experience!
Iv had mine almost 3 years no problems tsi alltrak 28mpg in town
Use 93 Octane, put it in Sport mode and it has plenty of power, really Joe, it does. I have a 2021 SE 4 Motion...93 Octane + Sport Mode = solid acceleration. And Laurie, as always, great video. Does Joe pay you with Twinkies? Love your reviews Joe! Keep them coming!
Nice if you like a 4 cylinder turbo but I’d step up to the Atlas Cross Sport with the V6 and the extra room. Thanks for sharing it Joe. Nice job as usual! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Larry! Good call on the Atlas Cross Sport!
Just checked out the Atlas cross sport after I saw this comment.
I think you miss out on the panoramic sunroof at this price point but I wouldn't mind the sacrifice to get the bigger motor.
But You're right, the Atlas cross sport is the way to go at this price point
Another great video my friend.
Here in my country VW equipped that Tiguan with a 220 HP engine. Same as the Golf GTI.
Mpg on the other hand isn't very good.
i've subscribed to your channel cause i like the way you review all vehicles. i have a question (i hope you answer). i'm torn between 2 vehicles as my running around everyday type of vehicle. they are the volvo xc40 t5 or the range rover evoque. which would you choose. i'm leaning toward the volvo but the evoque seems more luxurious. let me know, dude. thanks.
I wish they had a hybrid or affordable phev. I think Elantra hybrid jumped to the top of my list and I cannot wait for you to review it.
I’ve got a 2019 SEL Premium 4Motion and love it. Wish it had more power but that’s my only real complaint. (I wanted a Mazda 3 HB but got ores of waiting.) I was a bit upset that 4 months after I got mine they updated the instrument cluster to the shape it is now, but that’s a minor complaint. The built in GPS could be better, mine came with a SD card from 2016 I believe and is outdated. Upgrade that and you’re golden.
I use the cubby on the dash for an air freshener. I’ll occasionally toss my keys and wallet there when I’m going for a long road trip.
Badger your VW dealer and if necessary move up to regional management to get an updated SD card. In my experience dealer knowledge about the NAV system varies greatly.
I just rode in one of these via Lyft. It was roomy and seemed to have decent power for a 4 cylinder. I will say that the second row had a lot of hard plastic touch points. VW needs to up their game in that area.
Mr.Joe Raiti I knew what that center storage on the top was for near the steering wheel you could put like a couple twinkies there or anything maybe put jewelry or change if you wanted to
So many solid small SUVs last 3-3 yrs. Great for me as am set to look at a used one from VW, Kia, Hyundai etc. in 2021.
notification squad! Love your reviews man!
You are so very awesome! Thank you!
I saw a Tiguan R running around the Nordschleife in a video just the other day. My son drives a Cupra Ateca in Italy. Hope we get a Tiguan R that at least equals its performance.
I have a 2020 SE. I’m a little bigger than you & I love the leg room. Just took a long trip & I got almost 30 mpg. When I needed power to pass, I got it. I use the cubby for my phone when not plugged in to the USB port & for change. I recommend this car over RAV 4 or CRV, because of leg room, easy to use dash, & great capacity in the back (and the seats down).
What a coincidence hahaha I was just about to request a review of this car lol always ahead of the game Joe! Keep up the amazing work
Refresh coming out next year looks great, I’d wait for that one!
AGREED
Same engine low output TSI....even Russian can enjoy High output TSI engine and they have Skoda. I don’t think Volkswagen really care about the North America Market.
@@wp65th50 They've seen the Tiguan sell in record numbers this year. I think they have to be doing something right.
The Dude hope so
That’s a nice 👍 suv 🚙 joe it have a lot off space and good speed thank you 🙏 so much for the review big up to crown 👑 Vic Lori and you joe for all this lovely 😊 videos 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🤴👑👑📸🎥📷🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙
i may like those fysical buttons more in the steeringwheel then digitals as seen some version. still can't judge till i can test
my self.
Those 45 cents are gold
We love our Tiguan Rline but the third row does not get air to well and the POWER needs improvement. Overall still a great Mid Suv
Nice review man. I hope you bought the mayonnaise you were looking for
Test drove an SEL recently and really liked it. Biggest disappointment was no memory seat function at that trim level.
you had me at "Tootsie rolls, Twinkies, loose change" but lost me at the kids in the 3rd row!
This guy's sense of humor!
Hey Joe,
How about doing a vid on the VW Taos?
I put my parking permit in that little cubby on the dash. The permit is only useful while at my work. The placement works for me as I don't like the idea of adhering the permit to the windshield or hanging on the rearview mirror.
The front cubby is perfect for a mask.
You should try the sport mode , I see you keep driving in normal mode. Sport mode of this Tig give you driving smoother and more stable of the steering wheel.
And gas mileage drops to 20 mpg from 25 mpg.
It’s got SOUL baby !!
Thanks for the review. I've had two VW Tiguan's and both have been sluggish. Was this a 2020 or 2021. You stated on your drive 2021, just curious? Wow 34,000 is a bit much. You should have a S model, but thx for your time. Happy day.
I am so glad that I can share this one with you!
Hey have you had any oil consumption in the Shelby yet ?
I have a 2020 SE that I purchased sometime late July and my keyfob is definitely nicer than just plastic. Has chrome on it. Curious if it’s just the SEL h
That has the all plastic of this specific vehicle..
Good job but...where do you live where everyone cruises in the passing lane and you saw fit to hop into the cruising lane to pass?
Oh how much I miss that Chipotle burritos with guac... I wish they could open chipotles in Canada
Hal Lu visit Ottawa
I want this car ! I have to learn how to trade. Love it 😍
great review, its a big zonk for me to have a third row that really isn't useable... other than that its a solid SUV... thanks
I use my 3rd row every weekend for children so adults have the 2nd row. They love it back there
In Europe this is called the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
Hopefully in the next few years with the average car you can download different looking home screens and clock faces
I miss my 2018 Tiguan SEL. Great vehicle in all ways except power. Feels luxurious, great ride, nice tech. I’d recommend getting a tune, an APR tune will get this baby moving.
🤣🤣 I keep my chapstick there in the little dash cubby and it always melts in the summer but I'll never learn
I got the tiguan s, black rims black inside n out, gonna attach a trailer hitch , do a detail business. Its a great car for family but the issue i have now is it feels jerky. Gonna get it serviced
Idk what SUV I should get so many choices ! I’m depending to get this or Ford Escape... any help?
Gotta love my Twinkies!
I prefer this infotainment center than stick on iPad in some Ford models.
It is always nice to have choices.
I miss my 2013 Volkswagen Passat this car have the same set up as my old car😍😍😥
Thanks for sharing that input from your experience!
Is this the 2020 Tiguan (in title) or the 2021 (15:08). Regardless, loved the review and your humor haha
Would you buy this in the 2021 SEL trim or the 2021 Nissan Rogue SV premium package?
That tiny seat is where the kid sister sits so she doesn’t become an armrest again. 😂
Your probably better off just throwing the kids in the cargo area rather than using that 3rd row. 😀 Excellent review 👍
I think you are so right! LOL
When are you reviewing 2021 refreshed one
Found a replacement for Car Talk! Click and Clack, the Tappet Bros. Thanks!
I think the problem with most VW's is that they're just simple as you said. They're normal. Nothing outstanding but nothing awful. A car, with its curves and looks, needs to speak to me in order for me to want to have it. I just dont get any reactions from VW cars. Lemme know if you guys agree
Bouring is a another way to describe the looks
@@hermandebeer8389 Incredibly boring. Only interesting looking one is the Atlas Cross Sport imo
@@SirCuckoldThe3rd great looks
Tray on the dash...corn dog tray! Goes along with your Twinkies/Zingers
I like how America calls this a compact, when in the uk this is a full size suv...
Craziness!
I think that it is for charge the cellphone by induction
Down here they have something similar called mucho burritos but it doesn’t taste the same
My sister just bought a 2020 tiguan and I noticed that the hood blocks the windshield wipers from being able to be flipped all the way up. Am I doing something wrong or is it just a flawed design?
Ayy let’s go Joe again!!!
still missing auto hold ? 2021 model will have it ?
Man must sleep with a review in his head and goes out gets it done quick and good
Hey Joe. In Germany is also available at 220 HP. Why doesn`t it exist in the USA? But there ist now also a Facelift, perhaps it will get more Power in the USA. In Germany more People drive a Diesel and not a Gasoline engine. Great Test Joe!
A mirror for your kids to talk to themselves 😂 funny guy.
Just ordered highline with Rline
