When you hear that as an outsider it does sound literally like only black lives matter and when anyone else puts their hand up and says "but doesn't my race matter as well? I was oppressed. I once gave a BLM activist the chance to make a good impression on me and convince me that BLM was actually a benevolent and peaceful organization.
She failed.
I tried too. They tagged a bunch of people to make fun of me. All I was asking for was understanding.

Bit of a long story, but here's basically what happened:
I told her that I wanted to talk to the group of protesters because I wanted to learn more about the movement. The reason for this was because I wanted to experience the movement for myself rather than listening to a Conservative bias.
Anyway, she started by scolding me for not asking enough questions and stating my own opinions to them, which, granted, I was. So I asked her if white privilege was real and what she thought it was. She answered by telling me that the fact that I could walk up to them and state my opinions without getting in trouble was a manifestation of my white privilege. I wondered if she was implying that they would beat up a black person who had done what I did.
She also said that I should look at the cars driving past us, and how the drivers would have a positive glance for me and the other whites, but a negative glance for her and the other blacks. No idea what she was talking about because I didn't see a single driver do anything like that.
After that, she asked me if I had ever been pulled over by the police, and I answered that I hadn't, to which she told me that again, that was because of my white privilege. I stated that maybe the reason for my never being in trouble with the cops was because I had never broken the law. She told me that that was one of the most racist things I could say because I was unconsciously assuming that all blacks who had been in trouble with the police had actually done something to deserve it.
Then she actually made a point that I think makes sense. She told me that I could find videos on CZcams of black people getting the cops called on them just for having a barbecue or birdwatching or something innocent like that. She claimed that this was a manifestation of their lack of privilege.
A valid point, I thought. I know for a fact that blacks statistically commit far more crimes than whites, so it occurred to me that that would contribute to a society that unfairly assumed that most blacks were criminals. Of course, I couldn't actually say that because I could tell that she wasn't the type to listen to facts that made her uncomfortable.
Then she scolded me for not already knowing all this because we lived in the age of information and I should have already looked all of this up online. I loved how it never occurred to her that maybe I had simply been researching different topics.
Anyway, I decided to stand with the protesters for half an hour because a friend of mine was there and she convinced me that it was the right thing to do to peacefully protest and raise awareness that things need to change in society.
I agreed with that point because I knew that some things definitely need to change in society. We definitely need to find a way to solve the crime epidemic that plagues poor black communities in the country. I think that it may be contributing to an actual form of white privilege in that everyone assumes that blacks are trouble and whites are not.
But that BLM activist wasn't done yet. While I stood there with them holding a sign that didn't specifically say anything about race, she told me that she was proud of me for staying with them despite my earlier lack of knowledge and said that I deserved "some credit".
I was like: WTF woman? Are you implying that I've committed some kind of crime by not having all of your knowledge and personal experiences and that my choosing to be here with you can only partially make up for for it?
I'm probably forgetting a lot of details here, but she was being very rude overall and failed miserably to get me to think that BLM was a good thing. And her response at the end was terrible because she was acting like I was some kind of poor, stupid, white boy who desperately needed to make improvements to his character.
But honestly, despite all that, I wasn't really offended because I could tell that she wasn't actively trying to be rude. She just clearly had no manners and didn't know how to to talk to someone in a civil manner.
This is why I like Ben. He calls people on their bullshit with no mercy and has zero tolerance for argumentative fallacies.

The reason *we* care what Don Lemon says is because he's bad enough at his job to let slip what he *actually* thinks, instead of maintaining the mask that the rest of the propaganda pushers wear. The reason he has any viewers other than the few critics collecting these clips is that some people want to believe his lies, and they like the arrogant, condescending way he tells his lies. I don't think his ratings are great, though, and some media organization did give him the title "worst journalist of the year" a few years ago.
