To put into context and make sense of the above, slavery and colonisation, and many other practices, were abhorrent, yet no one sat down and consensually decided to be slavers, or colonisers? It was part of the times and a bigger picture, which created the world, as we know it today?
To that point; since humans first walked the earth, there has never been any small group, or tribe, that has not, over time, been subjected to the will of some more developed group. Colonialism has aways been with us in some form. Without it we would not have any of the many nation states that make up the world, nor the civilisation that we take so much for granted in our lives.
Yes, people feel aggrieved, and often resentful, which is understandable, and we should try to make up for their pain. However, it’s life, which in the long run none of us have much control over?

As much as I love the states I can't believe I'm glad I live in Mexico.
Two decades ago, I used to live in Guadalajara, Mexico for a year with my husband who was a USC graduate and a medical student. He took a year off to help the ingenious people in the rural areas outside Guadalajara. These people were illiterate and infected with illnesses who have NEVER seen a doctor or got any medical help/treatment from the Mexican government. Corruption and daily bribes were as normal as eating tortillas. I always felt unsafe and nervous all the time even when I was my husband who is 6 -2 and multiple times World Judo Champion since he was a young man.
Too many terrible events occurred to us crossing the Mexican border and in the city and for those American medical students as well who came to help the ingenious people.
I am not Hispanic but I can speak fluent Castellano/Spanish without an accent and other languages as well. Since I do not look Hispanic, no one suspected I spoke the language and with ease, I was able to hear what they truly thought of us foreigners. Here I learned, their true inner self in how much, corruption, danger, and racism are going on with foreigners.
This is how some Mexicans said thank you to us by helping their people. I will NEVER go back a visit Mexico ever again not even If they will offer me a million dollars.

If you think more cops equals less crime then you have no idea what you’re talking about. Police budgets have skyrocketed in the last 20 years with the police becoming militarised and it has had a negligible effect on crime. Investments into schools, infrastructure, social services and housing in poorer areas is what will lower crime. Plenty of examples of that in cities around the world.

You do that through cops or some other form of law enforcement. The Malcolm X/Farrakhan model is for the black community to self-segregate and to self-police. I'm not in favor of segregating like that. I believe we all need to mix and have frequent communication to maintain understanding and respect. But I'd be curious to see what an all-black police force would do to their communities.
