- A TikTok video that has gone viral just goes to show what a small act of kindness can do. This one has changed the life of an author from Arlington.
The video shows two men walking by DFW author, Shawn Warner, promoting his debut novel at a Kroger in Fort Worth. The opening caption reads, "This new author seemed super defeated when I first walked past him. So before I left the store, I decided to go back."
Warner explains the premise of his book, "Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor," to the men.
"It's about a teenage girl who teams up with a ghost of multiple personalities to solve the mystery of her parents' murder," Warner said.
Jerrad Swearenjin told WFAA he filmed the video after feeling inspired by Warner's dedication to selling his book.
"It was just supposed to be, hey, here’s a fellow neighbor who’s just struggling and I wanted to help him out," Swearenjin said.
Swearenjin's caption in the middle of the video reads, "I don't know this guy and this isn't a sponsorship. I just wanted to show a stranger some kindness."
The TikTok poster bought two copies of the book. After just two days since it was posted, the video garnered over 15 million views, and Warner's book shot up to the No. 1 best seller on Amazon.

That is sad that some many talented people are around us and pass unnoticed , im happy for him
Yeah, you can genuinely have talent but usually nobody is watching. Sometimes it just takes the right person to find your talent and make it go viral. I'm happy he's being recognized.
Most people on social media who have legit info in their field are small accounts while the millions followers are people who have nothing between their ears.
Talented? He was pitied. He owes his "success" to public pity. Doesnt mean he's talented. He cheated. Genuine talent is recognized over time, through gradual word of mouth. No shortcuts are taken. Tiktok cut that process in half. Thats cheating.
Great to see a local author being noticed !
Great book too
I just ordered one of his books for my teen daughter. I'm going to read it myself.
I just ordered for my wife and niece.😊
I predict that Netflix will make a series from his book!
Then cancel it after the first season
@@kadhimation LOL true dat!
It does sound like it would make a good series 😊
Maybe Amazon will
Down to earth fella. Good for him. Saw his story on Inside Edition.
He seems like such a kind, genuine person. If anyone deserved this bump in sales and attention, its this guy. Best wishes to him moving forward!!
it is humble, beautiful people like this man, he knows he's not perfect, but he Loves the Lord Jesus, and prays to be better daily, worked his whole life, has a loving wife, and taught his own children first hand- and gets a big break like this. i want to see more of these genuine people stories, and his book sounds sooo interesting. Yah Bless you all
Amen
This is the kind of author a self-respecting publisher should promote. A veteran who put his heart into raising a family and tried his best to shape his passion into actual craft of writing. One could only imagine the inner struggle this humble man went through, getting out there and debuting his first book, overcoming the basic fear people won’t find worthy the thing you poured part your soul into. That‘s what should be promoted, not the garbage like „Spare“ ghost-written for garbage royal couple profit.
My book just arrived today! I'm so excited to read it with my daughter and family. 😊
My library just ordered a few copies, and the kids love it. We ordered 4 copies and they havent even seen the shelf because so many people are waiting to check them out.
Great story about kindness and how paying forward could be a big thing for some! And this is a good example of how well kindness can pay off
Interviewer did a great job. Love the story. Congrats to him for his success. And for being humble and appreciating it.
This is the type of thing that should go viral more often! Love this!
This is amazing! Got me a little teary-eyed. Really touched my heart!
He deserves this!
To Yeshua be the glory! 🥰❤️
This man is truly wonderful. I'm so happy for him.
Such a cool story!
"generosity is just waiting for an excuse to happen", what an amazing saying by an amazing man, you can tell his life must be filled with such joy with his big Santa clause like smile and how emotional he gets about what Red did for him, stories like this are what gives me faith in humanity 😊.
I ordered mine and I’m excited to start reading it tonight!! 😊
This makes me emotional.. I am so happy he pursued writing ❤❤❤
Probably the most beautiful and most genuine and heartfelt interview I have ever watched! Thank you sir for the pure kind human you seem to be! ❤
Finally some long interview. Thanks for this
It's a really good book aswell. Would make a good movie.
This makes me so happy. What an amazing man. I’m halfway through the book right now and am loving it. ❤
He has the sweetest soul you can tell
This guy is so sweet . Very happy for him .
Thank you for this long-form interview which included some really good questions. Well done!
TikTok has a good side after all
Congratulations. I just heard about you through the local yokels. You give me inspiration and renewed motivation to keep writing. It's easy to get discouraged when you put so much energy into your work and don't get the response that you hope for from potential readers. I'm hoping to publish my first book this year.
He legit dosnt have to write another book . Dude left a big positive legacy in a book that will still be here when he's gone . If I was him that alone would satisfy me .
such a kind gesture and act, really set in motion, a great and amazing thing!
Wow, I was so happy for this author when I first learned about him going viral, but I didn't know what the book was about. Now that I know I must say that it actually sounds like a pretty good story and I totally want to read it.
i just ordered one for my daughter!
I loved his book!! And to see that the author is such a genuine sweet and kind person! Really glad to see him being recognised!❤️

"Learn the basics and build and build and build from there."
I love this story
Tik Tok was finally good for something.
So cool
Yayaya🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm so inspired by this as a struggling fine artist. What a great kindness Jerrad Swearenjin set in motion. It is so great to see good things happen in this world. I heard clear, stunning answers to prayer when praying to know God's will for my life, to be an artist. It was so hard to believe it could be true over the years, as I've struggled as a much older artist (& just finished art college) that I kept praying for confirmation, which I received, mostly through daily devotion Words, over 20 times. When I prayed before this summer what I should do to earn $, in the face of this calling to art, to my amazement, the daily Word that day spoke of how St. Paul earned money by "practicing his craft." Wow. When I asked how I could do something so impossible, the Word that day was how God can open unexpected doors for us, that we could never open for ourselves. I battle of stress, to choose faith. This story gives me so much hope, as I face this summer of hard work to build my body of art. I believe Shawn Warner's great advice- to perfect your skills & work hard. I admire his effort, sitting in that store with his stack of books, without much action at first. This gave me a spark of hope & life today & I'm so deeply touched by this. Everyone involved in this story is awesome.
let’s go!!
The book is wonderful so if anyone wants to buy it then you won't regret your choice.
❤❤❤
Please have it in he Philippines
hi how are you?
👏👏👏👏👏
❤
Wow what a guy
Once he talks about his faith, gen z will avoid him like the plague. That’s how biased they are
Don’t think so…..hope I’m right.
Enjoying a good book is my favorite pastime, and Gen Z should hopefully get an opportunity to discover this too.
He has a resting sad face...
notice how he didn’t receive help from god but from actual humans but gives all the credit to god
he got help from me. i bought his book , and i believe in God, and so God helped him through me and many lovely and kind humans.
@@yurimorgan7460 but isn’t everything you do free will? or are u secretly controlled by puppet strings that reach up into the clouds
If you believe God works through humans then you credit both.
what a wonderful interview! thank you for the depth and the emotion
Blah blah blah blah who cares

@@pwallace5359 ok sheep boy
