The best case is can hope is that the wait between new main series Zelda releases doesn’t continue to be an exponential curve. I don’t buy into the narrative of them not being able to make a great Zelda game in a “short” amount of time. Up until 2011, they were doing exactly that. I don’t want a 6+ year wait to become the norm.

Nobody has ever considered Nintendo could copy the cinematic techniches from BOTW and TOTK, and could try with a telltale-like game. Not necessarily with Zelda, but had it happen they run out of choices, the most logical option would be to try to make an entire different type of game, in the sense of "well, we've run out of active gameplay titles; so we could try passive gameplay".

I want a game that explains the Zonai and actually ends the timeline. Nintendo could do a time travel game where Link is tasked with killing Demise before he becomes powerful enough to reach the surface. In order to keep the whole hero defeated scenario from happening have it where every single version of Link is recruited to fight Demise so that Link can’t lose. It could also be the first multiplayer game in the series where players can fight together by controlling different versions of Link. Demise is defeated before the curse is created so that the split in OoT never happens. In order to keep the game series going have the goddesses ask Link to be the eternal hero so that he’s reborn every time a great evil rises. Zelda stays around because Hyrule needs a strong leader so the goddesses make it so that she’s reborn when Hyrule needs her. Ganon can return too because he’s the male child born to the Gerudo every so often. It allows Nintendo to do whatever they want lore wise. It allows Zelda to be bad sometimes and Ganon to be good. Or Hyrule could be destroyed. I would call the game Shattered Realms. Basically an evil being appears who is a god. Being a god he’s aware of everything from the timelines to the curse. The goddesses help Link to discover a way to stop the villain. The villain villain, seeing that he’s about to be defeated, does one final attack . The attack is on Hyrule itself. The villain destroys every version of Hyrule that has ever existed leaving behind fragment's. Link is saved from the destruction by the goddesses and is tasked with rebuilding Hyrule from the fragments. The villain is weakened by the amount of energy that it takes to rip apart time itself but is still alive. The villain creates different creatures to stop Link from rebuilding Hyrule that Link has to overcome. The final battle is when Link is almost done and the villain tries to stop him. This would create a new Hyrule so that lore would no longer matter.

Breath of the wild is my favorite game of all time.

I'd love a 3rd game in the Of The Wild series. They'll probably do something outrageous and different though. Either way, I'm just happy to have new Zelda.

Same here. In terms of overall fun factor, Zelda games are nothing if not consistent.

BotW and TotK were good games overall, but I can't bring myself to replay them after beating the story.
They need to bring back multiple save slots on the main menu. That's a major staple of the franchise and it boggles my mind that if you want to replay the game, you have to wipe out your only save file.
Weapons shouldn't disintegrate like wet cardboard. Making gamers do mental math on whether late game enemy encounters should be skipped solely based on a cost-benefit analysis of the available weapon economy is not good game design for an action RPG and I'll stand firmly behind that statement.
Making the player hunt down hundreds of pieces of korok doodoo just to expand your inventory enough to create a comfortable buffer against weapon loss feels like a cheap way for the developers to artificially pad out the playtime length. I mean seriously, Link can carry 999 of every single consumable to be found in the game at the same time, but he can only carry 4 paper shields?
Going for 100% game completion shouldn't feel like a full time job. Not only can you 100% Skyrim faster than you can with BotW or TotK, but the benefits you gain for doing so are far more unique (and permanent) with Skyrim than with the other two. Despite being a 13+ year old game, I feel like Skyrim's inventory and weapon system is leagues ahead of the BotW system.

I'd prefer to go back to a more straight forward/directed experience with Zelda. Mostly cause I'm just sick and tired of MASSIVE open world games with a million collectibles.
IF they do open world again I'd again hope for better lengthier dungeons. But more importantly better over all progression for going to those dungeons, cause really other than the Wind powers in both games the "rewards" for clearing the main dungeons doesn't really change anything about how you play.
Also being able to fill out that massive open world with things that are worth discovering. Not spending ages scaling mountains and caves and come out with 3 korok seeds and a bunch of weapons that just replaced the ones you broke.
