Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we test our mortar repair skills on our chateau facade. We continue progress on our suite-bathroom, and we make the most of our lake dock before the warm summer weather comes to an end.
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!

6 weddings in a Week sounds exhausting! You work so hard to make everything amazing, so glad to see you find time to enjoy time together in such a special place, even if you tire out grannie in the process!. The stone repair was so successful.. as is everything you do. So happy for you.
What you did for your granny was so sweet I had tears! Such a lovely place from some scraps!
The fact that ya'll take the time to get the b-roll shots. They're so seamless you don't realize it, but setting up the camera and understanding the shots then going through the footage later takes some work it's pretty impressive how much time and thought goes into it.
Thank you for noticing! We have one camera and one tripod. Ian tries to move the camera around whenever he has a chance and figures it all out when editing… The drone shots are what he enjoys doing the most 😄

That spot next to the lake is so cozy and peaceful , you both deserve a little break from all the work you do. Everything is looking great.
Even though the travertine tile is a pain. It will look magnificent years to come, and you can always reminisce the challenges you both endure side-by-side. The outside façade of the granite stone looks beautiful! Poor Ian was given the last minute jobs for a wedding. I’m sure prior notice would’ve been great for that job.😂 The deck by the lake was absolutely beautiful during the day, but gorgeous at night. I like your comment and that you just needed duck tape.😅 Its so great that you keep your grandmother close, and in your life. The memories will be some of the most precious that you will never forget. Thank you for sharing with us, and for all your hard work and efforts.

Repair was perfect. The lake barbecue was so lovely. The lights were functional, but very romantic at the same time. The table Ian made was perfect for this dinner. Well done you two ❤

It's wonderful that you are able to have your Grandmother over so often, since her and your grandfather had the dream of owning a chateau. We put in a Toto toilet. They're amazing. After our elderly neighbors (in their late 70s) came over and saw it, the wife talked me into helping her order their own and hire someone to replace BOTH their toilets with Toto toilets. Why? Because, she said, the bidet and dryer functions mean they can stay 'clean' even when their mobility gets less; which means they don't need embarrassing 'help' and can live in their home for as long as possible. They LOVE their Totos! And, no, I don't sell Totos. I just appreciate them.
That is great to hear! We will be renting out this suite, so it is important for us to be accommodating to our guests 😊

Lighting is everything! Twinkle lights make everything better. I’ve permanently wrapped a palm tree in my dining room-makes everyday beautiful and romantic feeling…which is a small joy for me. I have five kids who wreck our house constantly, so if I can keep a little space pretty, I can cope. Haha😊

You can tell the difference between male and female tortoises, by the shape of their shell. Male tortoises generally have a rounded or convex-shaped shell. Female tortoises typically have a more slanted shell, which is flatter and slopes downwards.

I feel like the moat turtle is more of a Sam/Sammy/SamSam. That's also a neutral name so it's easy.
You could also go for "Titus/Titania la tortue" or go the fancy route with "Monseigneur/Madame Neptune/Medusa des Douves De Lesigny" and put a name tag by the bridge with a picture for your wedding guests to spot.
