This looks like it could be a good continuation of the old Shipyards mod by rexxar. Loved that mod, too bad rexxar seems to have quit SE and developing
Wow. This is definitely cool as hell! When this mod is done and ready I'm *Definitely* gonna add this in and build a laser-welding ship printing facility like THIS!! This is Awesome!
It will be tweaked some before release tho. So speed and settings viewed in the videos is most likely going to change. Hopefully for the better after i profile the performance. On any server they should have blocklimits either way tho. But in and SP world it doesnt really matter as all you hurting is yourself if your placing too many :P
@sarbe6625 Well prob not tho. This is a showcase video. So its showcasing what is possible. An MP server would have to limit them for performance reasons. But even a single one is able to print a whole projection because of its 180m range. So if you senter it beneath the projection youl be able to weld 180m in each direction. The reason i would suggest servers have limits is mostly because subgridding. Physics doesnt behave nice in SE.
OOOOOOOOH, LASER welders?? THIS I like. Probably less laggy too, since they appear to only weld one block at a time, albeit fairly quickly. Wonder if the Sigma Draconis guys know about this.
You should prob check a certain post in sigmas discord in the channel for dx suggestions. The post starts with Un and mcrn drills..... So yes they know
@@raidfire85 I see. Been out of SE for awhile, so I haven't kept up with SD for some time either. Maybe it's time to gather up the bois and get in there.
It detects across the full laser line no matter if a damaged or projected block is burried deep inside the grid. As long as it can reach it with the length of the laser.
No it is not. Its based a newish framework called ToolCore made by AshLikeSnow(wizard) Hence why most videos are tagged with ToolCore. I model the block themselfs with everything it needs to apply a sbc definition for the block and then using ToolCore xml framework in the definition. There is alot of tweaking to get it right. Ive spent prob arround a week on the tools so far. And thats not counting the hours the two scripters ive contacted to make an automation script for the tools(specificly auto printing) Tho the tool itselfs supports both welding and grinding(It Has Modes)

Laser welders are F-ing cool
Thats why i made them

With these and the right collection of blueprints/scripts you could turn SE in a Supreme Commander sequel lol

Does it need line of sight? What happens if a block that needs to be welded is behind another?

Is this a continuation of the rexxar mod? Either way looks awesome can't wait to use it when you release
