Probably waiting until they get the new engine ready. At least some of the current issues and difficulties in game are because of engine limitations, and they already transferred the game to a second engine because the original wasn't good enough.
I sure hope that that type of encounter after a certain amount of time that you had said would be absolutely amazing. If that's the type of encounters that we're gonna get if we fail to extract the components in time. I cannot wait. I am so excited!!

The planetary base looks like it was an R.O.S facility and if they got prototech there, well it would prove that R.O.S may have developed the components but the Factorum made the blocks. Also want to add, that wreck ship with the asteroid base next to it is some pretty good environmental story telling. That ship likely jumped and crashed into the asteroid before being scrapped for parts. Likely to build the asteroid base near by. Crashed ship scenario?
@@Zer0sLegion I really do think there is. The panel is a Heavy Armour angled plate with 'Glamour' skin in yellow. The truss blocks seem to be a light and possibly a stadium speaker style sound block. Maybe we'll get a few new alarm sounds (a classic klaxon and a siren would be nice) Would be fitting since this is a heist kinda update... Inset connector is nice, depending on the conveyor ports it gets. If there is a small grid version I'd be more exited about that. Hopefully they go over the collisions once more (the offset light is still wider than a block the rounded plates are thicker than the others...)
Thanks for the update. This reminds me a lot of Splitsie's Assertive Acquisitions mod. The base game definitely needs something like this. I guess the Prototech armor panels are just regular panels with a prototech texture, which will likely be part of the update. Not sure if gold for the trim is a great decision. Won't fit a lot of other colors you might want to paint your ship or base
This is the only game I will religiously buy the dlc for. Every one they've released, perhaps excluding the skins pack, contains blocks I very regularly use and enjoy. The price for them too is insanely cheap. And now they're pushing out what looks to be a banger of an update? This game.
From what I get from all this is the "End Game" content SE always needed. And from the looks of it, they're going to make it easy to get to the "End Game" content... Only to make it damn near impossible to keep it until you can build a fully operational "End Game" ship. Sounds like I'll be playing SE again once the update drops 😂
Now things are getting really interesting, finally we get decent interactions by the NPC's in the game and at the same time we have to explore to get better stuff, I assume when acquiring these prototech blocks we can then make prototech components as they should be programmed into the blocks? I assume considering this is not yet released. Even if I am wrong, this is getting really interesting and I love it because of that
I think the Truss lights seen at 5:57 are both the same block, just rotated. I think it will be a spotlight, possibly with some kind of movement like the searchlight. That would be fun. The prototech textured panels may just be a skin (we will get a skin in the dlc). The block arrangement at 4:47 looks like a 2x2 LCD panel, which is a form factor we don’t have with half prototech panels covering up half of it. Also superb detective work on the Scrap Race.
Finally something to do XD. I lost my copy but I can see everyone has his ship ready to get some proto tech. I hope they are gaurded or have a option to spawn enemies. Getting proto tech should be made harder on higher difficulties.
I think this update will be what finally gets me to go all out in SE. I never stuck with it very long because it felt kind of aimless, but this is amazing
Finally!!! A whole block connector!! Of all the things mentioned, thats the one that made me smile the most. You design a lovely looking ship only to have the horrificly ugly connector poking out the side or, like you said, a gap around it. So happy now!!!
One thought i had is what if when you attack a base, instead of just sending ships to defend their base, they start actively hunting you down like a sort of heat system forcing you to either cut and run, or hold your ground against waves of ships. Like a more dynamic and advanced for of the wave defense senario.
i DO hope there is at least ONE new weapon in the update. seeing that it looks to be a very heavily combat-oriented update, NOT adding some new firepower seems like a missed mark. although that being said, the inset connector has already made this update for me
Warfare 2 was the combat part of this update, each of the last few updates has been leading on from each other. Warfare 2 for weapons, Automatons for AI and now this update for Encounters. I'd imagine at some point we might get some more weapons, Warfare maybe, but for this update we've already had them.
I gotta say, that segue from talking about PCU limits to asking for people to subscribe was brilliant 🤣 This being said, it looks like they may be working with the Modular Encounters System devs, or utilizing some of MES's code to make the Factorum work as a PVE faction. A lot of the more complex NPC factions and encounters you get via mods (such as Splitsie's ASSERT pve faction) rely on MES for scripting and to provide enhanced PVE capability, and to see a parallel between these MES factions and the Factorum is worth mentioning.
I'm *really* happy to see Space engieners adress a major issue with the game: *Progression* Once you get off planet, thats really it. Your main goal was to make a ship and you did, so all you really do then is just build a space station or another ship, but nothing else. Now, we have acatual incentives and rewards for exploring, somthing this game *Very much needed*
@@Zer0sLegion I've been messing around with mods, and there isnt really any that give you a real objective, At most is "Make the most powerful base" or "Go kill these guys"
@@OrigionalCigarette check out scarce resources, it gives u a reason to go to different planets. but even with that you still need to have a love for building stuff as it is a sandbox game and that will still apply after this update, prototech isn't all there is to do
the big ship did have some prototech panels on it, I wonder if those panels would have more defense against especific weapons, maybe against railguns 🤔 I think the first truss thing was the same spotlights just viewed from another angle
I’m going to say this, for one I believe that this is going to be really good for people like myself who build larger ships. And I also think that the expansion of PVE is really important, I would love to see more enemy types, other than just wolves and spiders on top of this, I would love to see more reasons to build ships in a way not conclusive to gun bricks. I think this will be a great step in the right direction for space, engineers, here’s hoping we get even more content, more encounters, and the ability for mods to take advantage of base game systems for the console community as well!
lol!, well done for your journalism!! I'm so excited, you nailed it gets to a point this game to what do i do now i have all this stuff. So its great that they have made these incentives to look and find encounters
I think it's safe to say that the "Proto-Tech" panels that you've been pointing out may be a Proto-Tech material for Painting. Since almost all SE DLC's have brought a paint material with em. Or two.
They really need to build up an encounter system and populate it properly, because this is the kind of stuff SE needed ages ago, and only had because of modders. So if we can get this in the base game, and it's fleshed out enough to actually incentivize exploring for more than just going out to find uranium/platinum then I might start playing again.
The new Prototech blocks look nice, but the inset connector is easily the best block in the update. P.S. Hey Valve, make sure Steam OS will allow me to duel boot, then I will never need Microsoft ever again. I plan on switching to Ghost BSD for my Productivity Operating System. I want to use Steam OS for my Entertainment Operating System, but I am concerned it might not duel boot.
I found no attachment to upgrades modules. Hopefully a single prototech refinery/assembler has stats as if we have 12 attachment (4 speed, 4 yield, 4 efficiency).
Guys, as much as you and I are excited, there is a huge catch for public servers. As we already know, there are no NPCs on public servers, only trading stations, so it will be impossible for public servers to ever get prototech items/blocks, unless the items can be bought or found through drops in capsules.
I NEED more block variety, 3x1 or 2x2 slopes or whatever to save pcu, I also think being able to paint specific sides of a block instead of the entire thing would be awesome
I'd love to see ship based energy weapons get added as well as extendible boarding passage ways so I can dock at a station and walk straight in from my ship without having to have the ship enter the station or enter space to transition between the ship and the station.

4:50 i think the gold is more of a paint of the faction. as it’s faction made and the bases have it it could just be a signature paint trademark thing
Apparently it's heavy armour panel with the glamour texture.
Anyone else think Zero's mystery truss block is just a varient of the spotlight seen from the side and slightly from the rear.
i DO hope there is at least ONE new weapon in the update. seeing that it looks to be a very heavily combat-oriented update, NOT adding some new firepower seems like a missed mark.
although that being said, the inset connector has already made this update for me
Warfare 2 was the combat part of this update, each of the last few updates has been leading on from each other. Warfare 2 for weapons, Automatons for AI and now this update for Encounters. I'd imagine at some point we might get some more weapons, Warfare maybe, but for this update we've already had them.
A solid update to look forward to. Thanks for the news.
You got me impressively excited about this update, xD
I gotta say, that segue from talking about PCU limits to asking for people to subscribe was brilliant 🤣
This being said, it looks like they may be working with the Modular Encounters System devs, or utilizing some of MES's code to make the Factorum work as a PVE faction. A lot of the more complex NPC factions and encounters you get via mods (such as Splitsie's ASSERT pve faction) rely on MES for scripting and to provide enhanced PVE capability, and to see a parallel between these MES factions and the Factorum is worth mentioning.
I'm glad you enjoyed your Latin lesson! And I doubt they're working with MES, the parallels are just that both systems add encounters.
Love going the extra mile with finding the demo in scrapyard, great work!
Thanks, all those geoguessr skills coming in handy.
I'm *really* happy to see Space engieners adress a major issue with the game:
*Progression*
Once you get off planet, thats really it.
Your main goal was to make a ship and you did, so all you really do then is just build a space station or another ship, but nothing else.
Now, we have acatual incentives and rewards for exploring, somthing this game *Very much needed*
Yeah, I've been going on about it for years.
@@Zer0sLegion I've been messing around with mods, and there isnt really any that give you a real objective,
At most is "Make the most powerful base" or "Go kill these guys"
@@OrigionalCigarette check out scarce resources, it gives u a reason to go to different planets. but even with that you still need to have a love for building stuff as it is a sandbox game and that will still apply after this update, prototech isn't all there is to do
the big ship did have some prototech panels on it, I wonder if those panels would have more defense against especific weapons, maybe against railguns 🤔
I think the first truss thing was the same spotlights just viewed from another angle
Thanks Zer0, helps a lot!!
Those prototech armor slope panels are using the golden dlc paint texture if i remember correctly.
Yeah, I updated the pinned comment
Okay, fine, finding the exact spot earned my sub.
😎
Inset connector?!!! Thank you Keen!!!
5:09 they may just be armour with the gold texture
Or a new skin?
Yeah, I've been told.
The armour panels just look like the angled heavy armour panels in game with the gold DLC skin
Yeah, I updated the pinned comment
alright, good direction
okay im more excited at the inset connector. Finally can build things a little nicer
lol!, well done for your journalism!!
Or two.
thanks zero, youre a legend
Thank you, you're welcome.
After new Vrage3 “rocks” video this is great !!❤
im looking forward to the new update
Now they just need to put the mod that allows you to hold control to disconnect blocks from and grid aswell as weld pads into the base game
I still thank you for your space engineers server a few years ago that is where I met my friends and still playing with them
Atleast someone got something good out of it😅
They really need to build up an encounter system and populate it properly, because this is the kind of stuff SE needed ages ago, and only had because of modders. So if we can get this in the base game, and it's fleshed out enough to actually incentivize exploring for more than just going out to find uranium/platinum then I might start playing again.
4:35 Prototech paint scheme over half armor panel.
Btw, The Weaver Station in the background @ 5:28 Is my factions main base on Ca2. A literal city.
Wow i'm late to the news, but still is amazing, i can't wait for the new enemies and encounters! as well as the new blocks!
You can catch up if you would like. There's a playlist with all the info on it.
I found no attachment to upgrades modules.
Hopefully a single prototech refinery/assembler has stats as if we have 12 attachment (4 speed, 4 yield, 4 efficiency).
Wow we wil need tugs and cargo ships now
A full connector block! 😮
Shut up and take my money.
Guys, as much as you and I are excited, there is a huge catch for public servers. As we already know, there are no NPCs on public servers, only trading stations, so it will be impossible for public servers to ever get prototech items/blocks, unless the items can be bought or found through drops in capsules.
Depends on the server, I'm sure Keen will turn it on for their official servers.
The prototech blocks and items being effectively PVE/exploration only might actually be able to convince a friend of mine to play again at some point.
I NEED more block variety, 3x1 or 2x2 slopes or whatever to save pcu, I also think being able to paint specific sides of a block instead of the entire thing would be awesome
I don't think painting specific sides of blocks is supported in the engine but slopes and stuff would be cool.
I'd love to see ship based energy weapons get added as well as extendible boarding passage ways so I can dock at a station and walk straight in from my ship without having to have the ship enter the station or enter space to transition between the ship and the station.
I would love to have a hollow piston or something to do that with.
I think the other truss block might be a truss camera or sensor since it looks like a cctv camera to me tbh.
