Nice video man
Thanks man!
This is a topic i have been contemplating a lot lately. There is a tension, a conflict between the strong man origin of strength training and bodybuilding or physique training. From old time circus strong men to Olympic lifting, read how much can you lift above your head, and powerlifting, read how much can you bench squat deadlift, and the intelligent use of resistance training for muscular development and an aesthetic that is not always in line with a pure strength goal. I think Alex Lionidas alluded to this in an interview I recently watched when he mentioned this and the legacy exercises we use from powerlifting, like benching for chest, when there may be other exercises and equipment available not purely strength oriented. Perhaps this is where something like Vince Gironda's somewhat eccentric style of training fits in.
Yess and especially lately you can see a lot of people casting the legacy exercises like bench aside. Although I think a lot of tik tok kids do it only because they can't stand that they're weak on bench, which is not the best reason, but at the end of the day benching doesn't really do anything special, it can be replaced.
Btw I literally took this video idea from him.
Ima find your barber
