+pingpong1138 this can work perfectly with windows continuum and microsoft should do this with the surface phone,a windows 10 version with working with x86 apps on the surface phone and with tablet continuum will be a killer feature and everyone will want to buy it.
JosephKing75 CBP I agree, I love continuum, wish it had an x86 processor though. If they come out with a tablet you could plug your phone into I would probably buy it.

- the original Asus PadFone, one with the Snapdragon 7 series chip and the 1999 iBook materials/looks (just less curved) and the other with the Snapdragon 8 series chip and the NexDock materials/looks
- Razer Linda
DeX will be borderline mainstream once they bring it to the A50/A70 series.

I think it's a really cool concept. No need to worry about your data, or cloud syncing. Do what you want on your phone and continue doing it on the "tablet". Also, no worries about the battery. I believe it's awesome.

I think that it's dumb how people call this a stupid product even though its a really fantastic product... However I think that if Samsung would've done something like this everyone would've loved it and everyone would've bought it... It's only because ASUS isn't known for making mobile products that people hate on this
I highly doubt that they'd just slap a hi res screen and add a crappy back leather back casing and call it a day

I agree. If it had an Apple logo, people would be all over it. Its a great idea and will only get better with future iterations.
An other point... That tablet with that OS in my opinion its not good, and if i didn't understand it bad, the battery for the tablet is the mobile's battery.... and is the mobile enough powerfull...? only thinks...

Here in 2021, we still don't see any new iteration of this astonishing product. It's crazy to see just how ahead of the time ASUS used to be. I definitely hope that any lapdock makers can take this idea and turn it as a universal product. Smartphones of today are so powerful that it can easily be used as a portable pocket computer.

Now there's the Padphone tv it's practically a 4 in 1! A phone, a tablet, a laptop, and a TV!!! All you have to do to use the tv is take the phone and insert it into the tablet then insert the tablet into the tv! :D

This would be really neat if it were presented today, with versions for both android and apple phones w/ a universal dock. I really like this concept.
I've always loved the idea of these. I have a Note 3 to bridge the gap of phone and tablet, but I think Samsung should make something like this for their already flagship phones. I don't use my Nexus 7 anymore because my Note 3 is too close to same size to really need it now, but a 10-12 inch version would be cool

The problem with phablet phones is that they do not run tablet applications so it doesn't really bridge the gap between the phone and tablet in terms of os, only in terms of screen size.
Marios5556 Thats why a tablet adapter thing like this would be great. Running a phone on a tablet DPI is just insane (I've tried). Things are just too small to make out so a larger screen is needed for the correct "tablet DPI" scaling

You won't probably get it, cuz the only reason that padfones vanished is the business logic that the company sells only 1 product instead of potential 3. Some manager at Asus must have got mad on thinking about these.

Brilliant idea if it took ANY phone.
That would just kill your phone and tablet at the same time because ti would need to be over bluetooth. Unless it was alot of different connectors that you could swap out. Plus all other phones would need to support that software which would raise prices of everything and probably kill the battery.
Thats like saying and xbox would be a good idea if it could play every game. Or a computer if it could play every game. Everything has its own perks.

what im saying is, having something work like that would require a universal signal or connector. but since phones dont share universal connectors due to branding it only makes sense that it would only be possible for all phones to have this if each manufacturer decided to make it that way.
That tablet connections connects to the phone a certain way, and the phone and tablet both have programs built in that allow it.
Computers can only play some games because of emulation to be fair. which isnt actually the same game. just a remake for the computer.
There are 3 main connectors. Lightning (iPhones), Micro USB, and USB C. We can ignore Lightning safely because it'd be monumentally difficult to make it work with an iPhone. So we have 2 connectors. As Micro USB is phased out, we'll only really need USB C. But there's only 2. 2? Thats a lot of connectors!

This is a great proof of concept. One device for everything. But apps can't replace desktop software. What if you replace the phone? The tablet is useless. Moto also made a similar device. It too flopped. Since phones and apps have become more powerful and functional, it's time to revisit this concept. I'll buy this over a transforming tablet or hybrid.
If your phone has HDMI out, you can do monitor+keyboard+mouse and have something usable. If you want a full desktop, VNC or RDP might get you there.

That's pretty cool although that Bezel will keep a lot of people from buying it not because it's disfunctional but because it makes it look cheap. I would still take a cheap laptop over this though just because on a long flight or vacation you can play some older games pretty well with the integrated graphics they have on Intel chips nowadays.

I had one of these!! Good phone! Had some glitches but is nice to be able to switch back and forth. The apps don't aways work with the dock

It is very well priced but 1. It is an AT&T device which inherently sucks (locked, bands, bloat, logo) 2. Specs could be better; only 16 GB storage (Kitkat limits micro SD capabilities & you can't install apps on SD), 2 GB ram (yes, I need over 2GB), and S800 (S801 has a higher clocked GPU and a few extra features).

Yea, its below $600 for both the tablet & phone portion. Normal phones alone are >$600 (for ex the HTC One M8 is $699)

Nate Meyer Thats cool! I really hate touchwiz but if there is one thing Samsung gets right it is micro SD compatability, at least until KitKat came. Touchwiz roms support exFAT, something I wish other Manufacturers would do (or EXT4 or NTFS). FAT32 needed to go away years ago.
