The split second of silence from the audience shows how powerful David Draiman's voice is. In that instance, you can just tell the people in that studio were absolutely blown away.

Your reaction is great. He is the best. He was very ill. They made him sit because he couldn't stand. His fever was 102 degrees. They had to escort him off stage. He said he could not pass up the opportunity to sing this on Conan live sick or not. He trained as a Cantor like his father and grandfather but said he was disillusioned with the Church. Heavy Metal is the perfect music for him. I really enjoyed your reaction. I cry every time i hear this version. Simon and Garfunkel wrote and performed this in 1964 as a Folk Song. Paul Simon told David Draiman that they OWNED that song now and posted it on his website. What a song and voice!
He was even sick with a high fever and nailed it ❤
I watched an interview he did. He was asked about this performance. He said, he had a nodule on one of his vocal cords. He was advised not to do this performance. He had his ENT on standby.
I simply cannot listen to this song and not be blown away. Every time it hits me like it's the first time. Understanding the meaning of the lyrics, paired with his voice, strikes such a chord within.

Disturbed is a heavy metal band. David Draiman the lead singer is phenomenal. Great reaction. I find the black and white music video of this song is even more haunting.
David Draiman is a classically trained cantor and singer. He has one of the most amazing voices out there. There are so many songs by them that are incredible lyrically and combined with his voice...
Isn't that just somethin' else!!! When I discovered this cover earlier this year, I couldn't stop listening to it, over and over and over again. It's the only thing I've obsessed over since finding BTS😊, besides them of course. He's very metal, which is not my kind of music, so I haven't listened to much else, but he does have another song or two that are a bit like this one. 💜
It is not fair that the reviewer has never heard the original version by Simon and Garfunkel so he can enjoy the how amazing this version truly is.

When he sing this song on that night he was also sick with a cold. And still was amazing.
Lead singer david was sick all week leading up to this performance. Couldn't rehearse, didn't know if he would be able to perform until he started singing on the night itself. The rest is history

First written and sang by Simon & Garfunkel who gave him fantastic reviews when they heard David’s version. I put mobile phones in our generation into the neon lights, it’s saying we have no interaction with real people. U-tube the proud owner of people thinking they have friendship with only the written word. Written in the 70s, it’s a grim reality that they new then what was happening. 😭
No offense meant, but this song was first recorded in March of 1964, not in the 1970s, though Paul Simon wrote it in 1963 and then kept working on it for a few months until they recorded it in 1964.

Disturbed is, as I see you’ve been told, a heavy metal band. They’ve been together since 1994. This is absolutely not indicative of their usual style. David is a trained Cantor, which explains his extremely powerful style. The official video drew me into exploring more of their catalog which I came to really enjoy, mostly because of David’s voice. I am NOT a heavy metal fan. Still am not, Pentanonix is my go to ALWAYS. But there is something about not only David’s voice, but also the extremely powerful lyrics of their songs. For another mellow one…I suggest…HOLD ON TO MEMORIES. Stepping up in intensity…THE LIGHT…A REASON TO FIGHT (the official live version is best) then their best know hit and a their usual style…DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS, But also…STRICKEN…STUPIFY…PRAYER. I’m here for PTX but would love to see you do some more DISTURBED. 🤗💋🥰
Same here. I like Disturbed and there's nothing from them that I dislike or wouldn't listen to at any given time, but I'm not a heavy metal fan. I like to say, I'm not a "Disturbed" fan, but I am a "David Draiman" fan.
