    If you want to hear what Elvis True friends had to say about him, there are interviews with Jerry Schilling & Joe Esposito on YT. Jerry worked for Elvis as a bodyguard until the year before Elvis died, but he remained a very close friend of Elvis until his death, & he was totally devastated his friend had died. He had known Elvis since he (Jerry) was 12 years old. Joe was the head of Elvis’ security & remained with him right up to his death. Both these men lived at Graceland. Charlie Hodge is another one for you to watch. He was a musician, playing guitar & harmonising with Elvis. He was a devoted friend, & Elvis had a room solely for Charlie, with his name on the door, in all of the homes he had. Charlie was with Elvis from the early 60s, & maybe earlier, & he was devoted to Elvis. He spent his life, after the death of Elvis, touring around America & Europe, giving talks & interviews, to set the record straight. They were real friends, not these men who called themselves his friends but were only there for what they could get out of him, & over the years they got an awful lot, including living rent-free for all those years at Graceland, in homes Elvis had built on the grounds, & very costly brand new cars. When Elvis bought himself a new car, he would give one to these so-called friends & also to their wives. I always find it astonishing, how quickly some of these so-called friends turned on Elvis even while he was still alive, but clearly very sick, with three of them writing a tell all book which distressed Elvis a lot, & he felt such a sense of betrayal, according to his fiancé Ginger. But he never castigated any of those men. He just told them that they had to do what they had to do. But two weeks later he was dead. He had fired those three bodyguards after finding out they had beaten up some fans, & they freely admitted they had written the book out of revenge. When Red West was asked if he regretted writing that book, he said he didn’t regret writing it, but he regretted Elvis’ death. He & the others knew the part they had played in Elvis being very stressed & broken-hearted about such dreadful betrayal of his trust & love.

    Elvis actually did live in a very poor Black community in Tupelo, Mississippi. His parents were one of four very poor white families living in that community, & Elvis’ friends were the Black children living around him. He didn’t leave that community until he was 14, when his parents moved to Memphis, & Elvis was an outsider at High School, because he was so different. He refused to conform to wearing the crew cut that all the boys were sporting, growing his hair in the longer swept back style he later became famous for as an older teenager when he shot to fame. And wearing what the other boys thought of as ‘weird’ clothes. Right back then, he wanted to be an individual & that made him an outsider & a loner. That’s why Elvis was able to perform this song with such conviction.

    A 21 year old Elvis, still very shy & nervous, but that voice. Years later, at his 1970 Live Las Vegas concerts, Love Me Tender became his signature song for doing some serious audience interaction, with his bodyguards & hotel security scrambling to keep up with him when he gets down off the stage & starts mingling with his fans. Elvis loved bringing happiness to his fans & he knew how to do that. Well worth watching, & the Reactions to that video are just so funny, because back in the 70s it was totally a different time & vibe.

    Elvis had a very special connection & a great love for his mother, & when he unexpectedly lost her to a heart attack when she was 46 & he was 22, it had a devastating effect on him. He literally cried for two days & could hardly get through the funeral. He was inconsolable, & even his father could not comfort him. Losing her had a profound effect on his life, because this is the time he began using prescription meds, as he had just been drafted into the army when she passed, & when he was shipped over to post-war Germany, the soldiers (he was in a tank unit), were given prescription uppers to keep them awake during night stints in the freezing cold of winter, & then downers to help them sleep when they came off duty. Being grief-stricken over his mother’s loss, he would probably have enjoyed the relief he got with the downers, of not feeling that intense pain, knowing he would never see her again.

    Sometimes the notes have been given to Elvis just before performing the song, with the names of any celebrities in the audience, so that he can introduce them to the rest of the audience when he’s finished singing. These are his early 70s Las Vegas concerts, at the International Hotel, so often there were several celebrities in the audience.

    You always give such a great Reaction to Elvis, & of course, as we fans know, it is so rightly deserved. Elvis never had a music lesson in his life. He never learned to read music, yet he taught himself to play the guitar his parents bought him when he was 11, by just listening to the radio & the guys playing guitar in the very poor black community he grew up in. Taught himself piano too. And even more amazing, he does all of his own musical arrangements. To put it simply, the man was musically a genius. He could take any Cover he did, & totally make it his own, & usually better than the original, as said by some of the original artists, & of course, they benefited with royalties of Covers he recorded.

    Would love to hear you React to ‘Fever’ in the Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert. He was always amused that he only had to twitch & the ladies would start screaming, so while singing Fever, he is enjoying playing with the audience, with such a lovely smile. Another absolutely Great one to React to is ‘An American Trilogy’ - Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert, an Iconic performance, & his musical arrangements, which Elvis always did himself, is out of this world. Thank you.

    In the Vevo version you get to hear her really belt those notes live. I'd definitely recommend checking that one out too. I love both versions, but I prefer the vevo version to the visualizer video. I've heard some snippets of different versions of "You're Blood", and she just released a song today that's amazing. I think she's going to give us many different versions of several of the songs. She seems to be having a lot of fun experimenting with new sounds.

    Great reaction, I love this song in all its versions, but, you simply must react to the live Vevo performance, the young man in this video is her back up vocals for the live while playing the mandolin. This one you just watched has her layered vocals as back up, which are exquisite, the live Vevo though, I must say it is one of my all time favorite performances of hers, she is having fun and still performing beautifully, please do a reaction to it. Anyway, thanks, I really enjoyed your reaction.

    Jane H commenting …. I always end up crying. Lisa Marie singing with her beloved daddy. She was just 9 when he died, & she saw him dead on the bathroom floor & according to Jerry Schilling, a close friend of Elvis (a true friend), said that little girl was just walking around & around saying “My daddy’s dead”. Then less than two years later, Vernon, Elvis’ father died of a heart attack, so she suffered another great loss in her life, with her grandfather passing. Lisa Marie had a lot of issues growing up & tragically ended up having the same prescription meds addiction like her father. Her son, Benjamin took his own life when he was 27, & she never got over that. She died recently of a cardiac arrest due to post-op complications. She was 54. Elvis’ beloved mother died when he was 22. His mother was just 46 years old & she died of a heart attack, & his identical twin brother was stillborn. So much tragedy in that family. May they all Rest In Peace.

  • @davidharrison1523
    @davidharrison1523 Před 11 hodinami

    He was just 22 here, & so shy. Amazingly, Elvis was also a shy introvert, until he got on stage, when he became extrovert, but he was always nervous before doing a concert, & his bodyguards travelling with him to a concert, would constantly chatter to him about inconsequential things to keep him relaxed & focused. After the concert, no-one spoke as they travelled back to the hotel (but in Las Vegas he performed in the hotel), unless it was to say that it was a great show, & Elvis would respond with a one-liner. He would usually be exhausted, as his performances were quite athletic. In the Ed Sullivan Show, Elvis was censored from the waist down, as viewers had complained about him moving about the first time he appeared in this show. When you look at it, one would wonder what on earth they could see that was indecent or vulgar or sensual, but different times back then.

I think most of us enjoy your reactions. I know that I do. It’s obvious that you are getting to know Elvis better, which is great. I really appreciate what you are doing, because you are bringing Elvis back into life & talking about him & you are willing to learn about him through the comments made. So thank you. It’s always so lovely watching Elvis playing guitar, & this is a really great piece of playing. Elvis always treated his musicians as if they were his family.

    21 year old Elvis, two years into his meteoric rise to fame. Huge audience of adoring fans. And yes you are so right about those 50s microphones, & that is an outdoor concert with no mod cons to achieve good audio sound. But Elvis always had a beautiful voice, & unbelievably, Elvis’ High School music teacher told him he didn’t have a good voice! He only ever wanted to be a singer, & was entering talent contests from the age of 10, when he had to sit on a stool to reach the microphone. But he could never have imagined where that amazing voice would take him, & I wonder if he had known it would lead to addiction to prescription meds & then an early death by heart attack, if he would have thought it all worth it? I think he would have, because being on that stage with the music flowing through his veins, was all he had ever dreamed of from childhood.

    Singer/Songwriter Bob Dylan wrote & sang this song. When Bob was asked in an interview, what the highlight of his career was, he replied, “The highlight of my career? That’s easy! When Elvis recorded one of my songs.” Singers through the 1950s, 60s, & 70s had great respect for Elvis. He had meteoric rise from poverty to fame, & he became the world’s first superstar, & he held that title throughout his career & right up to his death, always performing to Sold Out concerts, even when he was a very sick man before his death. This is a beautiful song, sung beautifully by Elvis. I haven’t heard the Bob Dylan original. Always enjoying your Elvis Reaction. How can we support the two Reactors you mentioned? Have you put their name somewhere?”

  • @davidharrison1523
    @davidharrison1523 Před 15 hodinami

    Jane H commenting …. Elvis loved singing hymns & gospel, & his faith was deep. His most treasured item was his bible, & one of his step-brothers was appointed by Elvis to carry that bible to whichever concert he was doing, & set it down on the bedside table next to Elvis bed in his hotel room, so that it was there for Elvis to read after the concert, or when he awoke. He always sang with such emotion & passion, & once he said that he never sang any song that didn’t really mean something to him. I have arranged for this to be sung at my funeral when the time comes. I think Elvis was in his 20s when he recorded this. I saw emotions welling up inside of you. That happens to me when I listen to it, & as a believer, I love every word of this beautiful hymn.

  • @davidharrison1523

    Elvis was a superstar & known as the best singer in the world …. & he loved popping one or two Hymns or Gospel songs into his secular performances. Just before his death in August 1977, he was actually planning to do a Gospel Concert & it’s so sad that he wasn’t able to do that, because Gospel was Elvis’ favourite music. He got nervous before his concerts, & he, his father, & usually the Sweet Inspirations would form a circle & sing a Gospel song. That would calm him down & he’d go out on stage & perform a great concert like the professional he was. After concerts, he would stay up all night, singing Gospel with friends, or some of the musicians, in his hotel room. It was his greatest joy. Thank you for another great Reaction.

  • @davidharrison1523
    @davidharrison1523 Před 15 hodinami

    Jane H commenting … Elvis loved to clown around on stage, or suddenly put different words into the song he was singing, or pull a prank on one of the musicians, or one of them would pull a prank on him, but he Always got his revenge, & usually that involved water lol. That’s why people went to ten or more of his concerts, because they knew they were not going to get the same old, same old, like so many singers do. With Elvis the audience never knew what he would get up to on stage, & I’m sure he liked to pop funny stuff in every now & again during a concert, to alleviate the boredom of doing two shows daily, seven days a week, for a month at a time. Elvis loved his fans, & he always wanted to make them happy. He was such a giving person & such a humanitarian. This is why many of us have loved him for sixty years, like myself & my husband, & some for even longer. What other singer do you know who could inspire that kind of love & loyalty in his fans …. & we are quick to defend him against the many lies & half-truths that are all over YT. It takes a very special human being to inspire such love & loyalty 47 years after his death.

  • @davidharrison1523
    @davidharrison1523 Před 16 hodinami

    Jane H commenting …. Elvis was very patriotic, & wanted a costume that would show his pride in being American, as this was the very first live concert to be beamed worldwide via satellite. It had a cape with a big gold eagle across it, which he donned at the end of the concert, & turned his back to the audience & held it spread out. I watched this concert live from New Zealand, when I was 21, along with my husband, & I thought Elvis looked so magnificent. The costume fit him perfectly & he was such a beautiful-looking man that I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Also, he was 6ft tall & just commanded that stage. This was actually Frank Sinatra’s song originally, & Elvis did it as a Cover, & may I say, not in a shy way.

  • @davidharrison1523
    @davidharrison1523 Před 16 hodinami

    Jane H commenting …. I always cry my way through this, knowing he was so very sick, so short of breath with such an enlarged heart, & several other serious medical issues, & he passed just 8 weeks later. But Elvis was a very spiritual man with a great faith in Jesus & God, & I believe that is where he found the strength to do such a stunning performance. His performance of How Great Thou Art in this same concert is also incredible. The man holding the microphone is the Late Charlie Hodge, who as well as playing guitar & harmonising with Elvis, & being his right hand man on stage, was one of Elvis’ closest friends & had been with Elvis for most of his career. Elvis & Charlie loved one another as old friends, & Charlie was one of the few people that Elvis actually trusted. Watching Elvis struggling to breath before sitting down at the piano, must have broken Charlie’s heart, & after Elvis’ death, Charlie made it his mission to travel all over America & Europe, to tell the true story about Elvis, as so many lies were being told by his former bodyguards & so-called friends … his bodyguards were also his friends, or should I say he considered them to be, but most proved otherwise. Once their meal ticket was gone, they were out there selling their half-truths & outright lies to the highest bidder. Thank you for a wonderful reaction.

    Oh, you have only just touched on the very tip of the iceberg. You have a very long way to go down this particular rabbit hole. I cannot think of a single song that Elvis sings that isn’t top notch. And he’s very athletic ….He has a Black Belt to 8th Degree in Karate & he uses karate to train with every day in order to keep himself very fit. Sadly from 1974, Elvis’ health starts going downhill, & by August 1977 at the age of 42, he is gone ….. Gone way too soon, but never forgotten. Long term fan since the mid-1960s & still think there is no-one who can beat this wonderful human being. Great Reaction.

    Simon & Garfunkel were the songwriters & singers of the original, & Paul Simon was in the audience when Elvis sang this at one of his 1970 Las Vegas concerts. When Elvis had finished singing, Paul Simon turned to his companion & said, “How the hell are we going to top that!” & repeated it in a later interview. Another singer/songwriter, Bob Dylan, in an interview, was asked what the highlight of his career was. His reply …. “The highlight of my career? That’s easy. Elvis recording one of my songs.” That song was ‘Tomorrow Is A Long Time’ written & sung by Bob Dylan & recorded by Elvis. Elvis has a very unique voice. A very unique vibrato covering his whole vocal range & evenly & narrowly spaced. A unique vocal range from the top of the base range, through the entire baritone range & into the tenor range. His vocal range covers 2.5 octaves. Opera singers cover 3. I’ve been a big Elvis fan since I was 12 & I’m now 72. Ditto for my wife of the same age. Elvis also does all of his own musical arrangements & the hand movements at the end were to let the musicians & backup singers know it was winding down, & then the flinging of his arms wide open, to stop them. Nothing goes on that stage that Elvis has orchestrated & nothing goes on that he doesn’t know about, apart from the times when they play pranks on one another, which is always hilarious. Looking forward to more Elvis Reactions from you. You will not be sorry, I promise you.

    Elvis didn’t write any of his own songs. Like many of the well-known singers back in the 50s & 60s, he used songwriters or he was offered songs written by songwriters & if he liked them he would buy them, or he would do Covers that really meant something personal to him. Priscilla left him in February 1972 & they were divorced in January 73, & this concert was in February 73, so the emotion of that divorce would have still been very fresh on his mind & in his heart, as she took his only child, his daughter Lisa Marie with her, & he doted on that little girl. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Celine Dion, Blake Shelton & many other big stars never wrote/write their own songs. Back in the 50s songwriting & singing were two separate professions. They say that most stars are great storytellers, especially when they are telling someone else’s story, & Elvis was said to be one of the greatest storytelling singers.

    I will tell you the kind of man Elvis was. As a young man of just 22, Elvis lost his most beloved mother, & although he was already famous, he said, “I have lost the only thing that has ever mattered to me” & he was inconsolable & never got over losing her to a heart attack at the age of 46. Red West, his ‘friend’ lost his father the day after Elvis lost his mother, & Elvis had been sitting with his mother, absolutely grief-stricken. He heard the voice of Sonny West, cousin of Red & another ‘friend’ of Elvis, & knowing Red had lost his father that day, he went into the next room & gave Red a hug, telling him he was there for him if Red needed him. That is the kind of man Elvis was, that even in his deepest grief, his heart went out to his friend. Whoever recommended that you watch this video, from these so-called ‘friends’ who Elvis did so much for, was certainly not someone who cares anything for Elvis, because if they did, they would not have recommended you post this up for all the Elvis fans you have on your channel. I think you are a person who can make up his own mind.

      I thought the same thing! I just want this young man to enjoy Elvis - and not be exposed to such twisted nonsense. We fans know the true and real Elvis and it hurts us especially to see him be exposed to .and hurt by it but Explore With Kings 003 has wisdom and intuition and is not fooled by this nonsense. I can see that and am so grateful for that. I love his kind and genuine reactions and I just want him to enjoy Elvis and not be hurt by this bullshit. I was very hurt by it and I know for a fact that it is twisted and untrue and so it stabs me in the heart to hear it especially when Explore With Kings 003 had to hear it - I mean I have two young grown up sons and you just want to protect them from all the nonsense out there and want them to know the real truth. I Just want to say that I am so very grateful for all the Elvis fans who replied and stood up to defend Elvis who is not here to defend himself.

    Jane H commenting …. Sorry, I’m not going to watch this one, because once Elvis had passed, & very sadly, even before he had passed, many of his so-called friends who he had helped out by paying mortgages, medical bills, bought houses & cars for, taken them on vacation to Hawaii when he was going, were only too eager to say bad things about him for money, because they knew that that was what media & television wanted to hear …. Sadly, people prefer to hear bad things about prominent people, & Elvis was an Icon in his own lifetime. People don’t want to hear good things, for the most part. Same with the dreadful racist slurs against him, which turned thousands of Black people against Elvis, & they passed that on to their children. Now we know that it was all lies. Ditto for a lot of other stuff people come up with. My mother used to tell me as a child growing up in the 50s & 60s that actions speak louder than words, & I know what Elvis did for others in his lifetime. Was he a saint? No he wasn’t. He was an imperfect human being the same as the rest of us, & he knew it, & he struggled with it. I’ve seen several of these videos, with several of these men. When I was a child, my late mother also told me if I didn’t have anything good to say about someone, not to say anything at all.

    Jane H commenting …. Elvis was one of the kindest people on the planet, & he gave so much more than shown here. Elvis got his greatest happiness when he saw the happiness on the face of someone he had been able to help, & many people who received help from him, never knew who had helped them. He was a deeply spiritual person who loved Jesus & God, & he said that God had blessed him with a voice than enabled him to make a good living, in order for him to be able to share that with people in need. At Christmas, he would enlist the help of friends & family, to find out what his employees really needed or wanted, & that was what they would get from him. Ditto for friends & family. He would make it his business to know what they wanted or needed, & that is what he would get for them. He just loved making other people happy.

    Have you done “evolution of Rihanna” or “evolution of Micheal Jackson”? Exceptional talent, perfection, there are no words really, you have to watch to understand.

    Wonderful Reaction to this wonderful human being. He might have left us 47 years ago, but he has never really left us. Elvis said he thought he might be forgotten when he was gone, & how I wish he could know that he is still very much present in the hearts of people. Being the humble man that he was, I don’t think he ever had any idea just how much he was loved, because he was always amazed that his concerts were Sold Out & that people were even travelling from other countries to see him ….even from England.

    It was Elvis’s tribute to Martin Luther King, after he had been assassinated. Elvis was a supporter of the MLK movement & privately he had spoken at least once with him, & was helping to fund the movement. He was very upset about this senseless act of a man he greatly admired, & wanted to make a public statement, but Colonel Parker, his manager, refused to allow him to do that, so Elvis asked one of his songwriter’s to write him a song expressing his feelings, & the songwriter wrote the song around MLK’s famous I Have A Dream speech. Elvis only performed the song once, or at the most twice, for the 68 Comeback Special, & then he never sang it again, as it had been specifically created as a tribute, plus also just a short time after the assassination of MLK, Robert Kennedy was also assassinated, & he was also someone Elvis knew. Elvis was told Not to sing this song, & especially Not on a televised performance, because he said it would destroy his career, but Elvis went ahead & did it. It was the same when he sang In the Ghetto, which no white singer would touch, but when the writer offered it to Black singer Sami Davis Jnr, he said he had no experience with poverty, so knowing his friend Elvis’ poverty-stricken background, & knowing that Elvis had grown up in a very poor Black community, he suggested the songwriter take it to Elvis.

    I really appreciate your Reaction & it was very brave of a 19 year old to take on the onerous task of trying to bridge the gap between black & white. Black music would have stayed exactly where it was back in the 1950s, for at least another decade, because no Black singer would have been allowed to sing to a White audience back then. By taking Black music to White audiences, & by making it so popular with young White people, that helped not only Black singers of the 50s, but it helped to start mending the yawning chasm created by segregation.

    Jane H commenting …. For me, one of the most heart-breaking things that happened after Elvis’ death, was that the media & others started saying that Elvis had been racist, when he had always been the exact opposite. Elvis had grown up with his very poor parents, living in a very poor black community. They were one of four very poor white families living in that black community, & Elvis’ friends as a child, were the black children living around him. So he grew up listening to Black Gospel music & Blues, & of course that was what he was musically influenced by, because that was all that he had known until he was 14 years old, & it was what he loved. So he wasn’t ‘copying’ or ‘stealing’ Black music. It was what he had grown up with, & we are all influenced by what we hear & see & learn in our childhood. That guy in the blue top, saying it was a slap in the face for the Black people who had made the music, when Elvis was called The King of Rock ‘n Roll, he’s a rapper & he actually put in one of his raps that Elvis was racist & he said Elvis was Public Enemy Number One to Black people, & that bought a whole new generation of Black people hating Elvis & saying he was racist. Elvis loved everyone, no matter what the colour of their skin, & he Never referred to himself as The King of Rock ‘n Roll … in fact at a media interview when he was called that, he spotted Black singer Fats Domino & pointed at him & said He is The King of Rock ‘n Roll. Elvis was a very humble man throughout his all too short life. He was also a shy introvert, though his stage persona was an outgoing extrovert.

    When Elvis stands up & puts one foot on the chair & then says ‘from the waist down’ he is referring to when he first came to stardom as a 19 year old, he was censored from the waist down when doing the Ed Sullivan shows, due to so many complaints from viewers about his dance moves, which they considered to be ‘vulgar’ & ‘lewd’ & ‘sensual’ …. Which frustrated Elvis because his dancing was all part of his performances, & if you watch some of the television shows where he was not censored from the waist down, there is nothing vulgar, lewd or sensual about his dancing. When you see him touching his hand to his side, & I think he says “No hands”, that’s referring to when the authorities told him he was not allowed to move or touch his body with his hands when he performed, or he would be arrested, & more than once he was. By 1968, more than a decade later, things were vastly different, but he had had to courageously push barriers of segregation & societal constraint as a teenager. After 9 years making movies, this is the first time doing a live performance.

    Jane H commenting …. Elvis really was the most extraordinarily-gifted & beautiful man. And I mean beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside. Been a big fan of his for almost sixty years now, since I was 12, though I had been hearing him on the radio for some years before that. So Elvis has always been a part of my life. It pains me terribly to think about the suffering, physically & emotionally, that he went through over the last two years of his life, & I don’t think he ever knew how greatly he was loved by so many people worldwide. This is a very beautiful song. Enjoying your Elvis Reactions. Thank you.

    I had seen only ONE black person when Elvis exploded! But at university I met tons of black kids and my friends (white & black) who were into music quickly became great friends for life. Mine was the first generation of poor rural whites whose parents pushed us to get at least one degree. I was living in Connecticut when MLK was shot. We were heartbroken. He was as loved as JFK and soon after RFK. My parents were never racist, but they worried when friends married someone black because they knew they would occasionally face hard times along the way because there were still people who talked equality but didn’t walk the walk.😅 my circle was always just into making music and if you could sing or play that was all that mattered. This last four decades have been dividing people to divert their attention from the corruption of our leaders, the justice system, so they can quietly go about their business of stealing from taxpayers and using their money as if it belongs to them. Read Thomas Sowell. He’s old now, but I’d be thrilled to just meet the man and thank him for how he has managed to show us that racism is just a way to keep people from mingling and under how much we are VERY alike. Good show!
