  • @josephgraney1928
    @josephgraney1928 Před měsícem +26

So there's two obvious points Paul is missing
    1) The Russians are going for the major supply route of TO504. It is kinda far, 10kms, but not entirely impossible to reach. Even getting range for more artillery would cause significant issues for Ukraine.
    2) Russia probably wants to reach the "open fields" Paul is talking about, and stop on their edge, use the water-ways to build a strong defense that requires fewer troops, and then pivot the forces freed up by such a situation to begin offensives from other directions, possibly on the Belogrod-Kharkiv axis.

    • @edhargquest8710

3rd point,,Ukraine are agricultural country, with a huge space between almost all villages and towns who are guess what flat open terrains called agricultural lands. Bout side if want to go from one town to another are simple forced to go over these lands because teleportation are not invented yet. its look that Paul still not figure that, but he seems to split these lands in Russian insignificant empty fields, and Ukrainian important empty fields.

Now for paul russian advance are ridiculous, but if one day Ukraine need to go on same open field he will probably change mind and say that these its very important open fields. Sometime Paul behavior its like he have 7 year old and dont understand what its agricultural flat land.

If it was easy the Ocherotyne breakout would have turned into a large armored column advance by now.
After all, the initial battles involving the 47th leaving positions but then having to turn back around because their RIP didn't show, that was about 2 weeks ago.
Yes, Ocherotyne has fallen. So have 2 villages near it. However, the fact that these are villages & towns, and not Cities nor Forts, reveals the fallacy of your statement.
The Russians are fighting as well as they can. That's it. It's just them out there.
If you feel that you have to ask questions about the speed of this breakthrough or how fast the breakthrough turned back into a slow simmer, you need to ask the Russians. You don't need to ask Paul or me or anyone else who are outside of the Russian MoD.
But we all know that we can't ask the Russians because, for some weird reason, they don't field questions that question their competence & neither do Russian courts, the Russian legislative branch, nor Putin's executive branch.

Also, if the US Army were forced to sustain 100,00 to 150,000 KIA in either Iraq or Afghanistan in only TWO YEARS, you'd never hear the end of it in America's press. There'd be tense, emotional interviews on 60 Minutes with missing or dead servicepersons' families. There'd be VERY public House & Senate Committee hearings to explain the high number of dead American soldiers. American college campuses would immediately erupt with protests. An unpopular President like Trump would immediately get turned into a 1-term President, definitely One And Done.
Don't even get us started on what would happen if Americans found out that the US Federal government were secretly press-ganging migrant workers into active combat, something Russia's been doing for at least the past 2 Months. The entirety of Central America, plus Canada, would throw shit fits & TBH, noone in America would blame them.
Why else do you think US troops are still in Syria literally right now? We KNOW we fucked up turning our backs on the Kurds. Obama hung them out to dry in what is easily his 8-Year Presidential Administration's Alltime most dishonorable foreign policy. Trump's people came in & told Trump that Obama fucked up which is something Trump LOVES to hear. That's why we are still in Syria helping provide protection to what little of the Kurds' physical resources remain. We told them we would support, & we failed them.
Tell me, when's the last time a Moscow citizen or government ever acknowledged a mistake as big as America's mistake betraying the Kurds??
And don't act like you haven't betrayed anyone. Your foreign agents are plunging sharpened umbrella points into Russian citizens' ankles in London. In Syria the official Russian government deconfliction hotline told US Green Berets under attack from a 500-man force of Syrians & Russians that there were no Russians in that force, the US killed almost all of them at the cost of one twisted ankle, & it turns out that there WERE Russian citizens in that attacking force but, because they're Wagner, 'they don't count'.
Who does that to their own citizens who are under arms fighting to advance Russian Federation interests? Wagner wouldn't have been there unless Moscow let them.
No wonder why Wagner betrayed you in the end. I might have, too. You can't leave someone like me to die & blithely assume that I won't survive & will in fact attempt to take my revenge.
Russians are disposable in Russia, & that's why young Russians with brains are leaving.

I'm going by what I hear from people in Ukraine. That thier defensive positions are constantly being hit by glide bombers first and that the Russians absolutely own the air on the front lines right now due to the fact that they aren't as afraid of getting shot down. I'm not speaking of Ukrainian news outlets in general. I have a personal American documentarian friend on the ground telling me this. And yes, Ochertyne isnt a large city. But its high ground. So is Kasiv Yar. And reinforcement plans were botched, i got that too. Do you happen to know what the 4 newly deployed Chechan brigades recently deployed to the north are up to by any chance?

So you disagree that they are getting glide bombed out of thier fortified defensive positions and that Russian air superiority is leading the current Russian push. Fine. I am relying heavily on an American documentarian friend of mine reporting from Ukraine to feed me solid info wen I speak with him weekly, or bi-weekly. He says the Russians aren't as scared to fly as they were over the past year. I guess waiting for supplies and reinforcements has nothing to do with not moving armored columns into Ocheretyne yet. These aren't large cites, but its all high ground on one side of a large fertile farming valley right? If this is an angry reply from the channel. There are leaders and nations, both national and international, who do not respect the norms and laws of existing societies and act according to insane standards and values that apply only to themselves.
These are usually referred to by the general public, other than the insane cultists, as "rogue elements" who should be excluded from a decent society that seeks security and safety under law and order. We should never tolerate their ridicule of the norms observed by the international community.

I wonder if Russia is making the same mistake with this offensive as Germany made in the spring of 1918. Fearing what would come with the U.S. entering the war, Germany launched a series of attacks. As Wikipedia notes: "No clear objective was established before the start of the offensives and once the operations were underway, the targets of the attacks were constantly changed, depending on the tactical situation.... The Allies concentrated their main forces in the essential areas (the approaches to the Channel Ports and the rail junction of Amiens). Strategically worthless ground, which had been devastated by years of conflict, was left lightly defended. Within a few weeks, the danger of a German breakthrough had passed, though related fighting continued until July.... The German Army made the deepest advances either side had made on the Western Front since 1914. They re-took much ground that they had lost in 1916-17 and took some ground that they had not yet controlled. Despite these apparent successes, they suffered heavy casualties in return for land that was of little strategic value and hard to defend."

On May 5, several waves of Russian strikes hit targets in various Ukrainian regions. During the day, Russian strikes were reported in the Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava regions and in the areas under the Ukrainian control in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Kiev confirmed damage as a result of the Russian strikes. One of the targets was the Slavyansk TPP, located in the north of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The facility was heavily damaged by the precision strikes of at least five Russian missiles.
Ukrainian air defense forces failed to protect the plant. Moreover, they did not notice Russian reconnaissance UAV that was coordinating the attack and filmed the results of the strikes 30 kilometers from the front. This fact once again confirms the depletion of Ukrainian air defense, which can no longer protect strategically important facilities near the frontlines.
The local Ukrainian authorities confirmed damage to the Slavyansk TPP, claiming another alleged Russian attack on ‘civilian facility’. However, the Donbassenergo energy company declared that the plant stopped operations over hostilities back in 2022. The territory of the energy facility was used to accommodate large Ukrainian military forces and equipment for a long time.
During the day, more Russian precision strikes were reported in the Kharkiv region, including in the industrial zone in the city of Kharkiv. Videos from the city show civilians having picnic amid the ongoing strikes.
Ukrainian authorities also confirmed damage as a result of Russian strikes in Poltava. According to the local officials, the attack allegedly targeted another civilian facility, the elevator. No civilians were wounded as a result of the attack.
Russian troops continue to make gains in Donbass and have captured the strategically important village of Ocheretino to the north of Donetsk. The village of Ocheretino has been described as a major logistics hub for Ukrainian troops in the area.
According to Deep State, a Ukrainian analytical Telegram channel, the collapse of the defense in the area was triggered by a rotation blunder. The outlet claimed that the Ukrainian 115th Mechanized Brigade failed to relieve the 47th Brigade in time, leaving a portion of the front wide open to Russian attacks. The leadership of the 115th Mechanized Brigade has denied the accusation.
In an interview with the Economist at the start of May, the deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Vadim Skibitsky, said he expected Russia to continue its offensive in Donbass, noting that Kiev was struggling to fight back due to a lack of weapons. “They always knew April and May would be a difficult time for us,” he said, in an apparent reference to delays in Western assistance.
He also suggested, as quoted by the outlet, that it is “probably a matter of time” before Chasov Yar, another Donbass high-ground stronghold, would fall just like Avdeevka. Chasov Yar is located not far from Artyomovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine), a scene of bitter fighting last year.
Zelensky has failed to achieve any of his goals and is leading his country into an abyss after losing many parts of Ukraine, its infrastructure and economy destroyed, and millions of people displaced after two years of war. Ukraine’s defeat looms on the horizon with much evidence, raising growing concern in Europe.
Ukraine’s lenders said Kiev could wait to pay them back after Russian SMO two years ago. Now, their patience is starting to run out. A group of foreign bondholders including BlackRock and Pimco plans to press Ukraine to start paying interest on its debt again as soon as next year, according to people familiar with the matter. Ukraine is preparing to start talks with the bondholders this month, and Kiev’s advisers are working to get the U.S. and other governments on board.
That approval isn’t guaranteed. The U.S. and its allies are concerned that taxpayers’ money will wind up in bondholders’ hands if Ukraine resumes any type of debt service. The countries agreed to give Ukraine a debt holiday on roughly $4 billion of their own loans, until 2027, and have voiced concerns that bondholders could start to be repaid ahead of them.
Without a deal, Ukraine could default after the bondholder-debt holiday ends in August, tarnishing its reputation with investors and complicating its ability to borrow more.
Around Hr 19.8 million ($498,000) in reconstruction funds allocated to the heavily damaged Kyiv suburb of Borodianka "disappeared," Ukraine's State Audit Service said on May 3.
After an audit of the Borodianka town council, auditors determined that there was a discrepancy of Hr 14 million (around $353,000) related to plastic-metal windows, which were earmarked for installation but never actually put in.
The auditors also found that purchasing and installing materials at prices above their market price resulted in a loss of Hr 5.2 million ($131,000).
