I’m a classic fixed guy. After watching your meta settings vids for a few weeks I finally played my first game on these setting last night. Got the win and beat my first grandmaster. So many times a situation came up and I remembered something you said. Thanks for everything Pete!

I think people join games looking for a specific cap placement, and if they don’t get a god pocket to snowball they leave. Would be nice if SMG put a time restriction on joining games after leaving one that’s still going.
The best suggestion I've seen is that you shouldn't be able to join a new game until your army has finished: so if you leave a game with automated bots, you could not start a new one until you were eliminated. Maybe have an exception for if you resign because the game has stalemated or you are just stuck behind someone who is card farming your bot
If you ever played World of Warcraft, it would be like the deserter debuff in battlegrounds. If you leave early you can't join another battleground for 15 minutes.

The only thing worse than a bunch of players botting out, is when those players break you AND then bot out... (while the other guy is getting 20+ a turn)...

@30:24 The odds of rolling flat/positive on that 28-cap is about 9%. Almost 1 in 10. 28 defenders just isn't enough to guarantee a costly assault. You need 50, preferably 70. Coincidentally, his odds of getting a positive roll are almost the same as your odds of successfully defending the capital.

I like the grinding type games of trying to beat the odds even if it doesn't get a win, IMO it shows more skill than the snowball type games
They're different skillsets but definitely important to have as many as you can if you're gonna win consistently.

@@FreePeteoriginally got GM with classic fixed, now I’m sure you’ll be shocked but I play just meta settings (but use 90s turn timer because I don’t like just using speed to kill people, in a strategy game you shouldn’t be capped by mechanics). I think you’ve said a number of times it’s a caps leaderboard for a reason

@@FreePete novice+ mostly as they run the quickest. Sample size is relatively small, but the higher skilled lobbies seem to be “easier” games for the most part as the novices/beginners add some unbalance to the games. The only games I’ve lost this season have been with 5 low ranked players as they allow more snowballs and I’ve had to gamble to try and prevent the snowball and the other player doesn’t understand and accidentally suicided.
I wish the ranking system rewarded playing higher ranked players more, the 1v1s are way more interesting vs good GMs but getting a GM lobby is basically impossible in my experience
You must almost never lose. And play a ton.

Imo if u threw a conoelation of your bad games together with why and how u lost would be great to watch. It would also make me feel like im not the only one getting bad games.

If purple was a human they would have stolen both caps, and probably tried to wipe out a lot of you around them, but the bot graces you.

You know, the sheer number of people who simply 'nope' out of the game the moment something doesn't go their way... makes me really, REALLY not want to play. If you can't stick around to the end game, why are you even playing?

Man those unlucky yellow cards were cursed or something they lost you the entire game. Force trade joker means no set on 3, which meant no red kill, and to add insult to injury, no free magenta kill on 5 cards because no set on 4 either. Then black eventually sets on 3, killing you.
good try man. I hate the bots so much. Ive started only playing with neutral bots. They have their own issues but i find it better strategy playing with neutral bots.

Wasnt it determined that when multiple players are alive when all caps are captured the others (not 1st obv) are ranked on average troops per territory? If that is correct, stepping off cap at the end would have given you 2nd instead of 3rd.
Since purple was a bot from the start Pete already got 2nd after he killed magenta, didn't he?

I love watching losses , only kylted shows losses , most other streamers only show wins and its too predictable .
So many mistakes… you knew red was in orient too, and still went on a random run into Russia
Genuine question, not a criticism - why did you keep your territories so small during the first half of the game?
Black was focusing on the bottom of the map early on and it became clear that purple, magenta and yellow were bots. My instincts were screaming that you should have gone and taken as much of the top of the map as possible and I was waiting for you to spread east into Russia through purple’s +7 and avoiding red , then taking Russia and Scandi- a lot earlier in the game. Or even moving down and taking Italy due to it being protected from Black by a blizzard. I was surprised that you didn’t go for more bonuses early on and this kept your troop gains small.
Is it because the yellow bot was applying pressure to your noob corner and you were defending against a possible black attack?
I only ask because I’ve seen you play more aggressively in lots of other matches.
Also, the bot outs are infuriating and need to be addressed definitely!

I don’t think that was the play, smacking so much bot material would have left Pete weak. If black had a peak he instantly died. Besides getting to Scandi is like 20 territories I think
